Heroine-Saving System: Reborn In A Third-Rate Manga As The Protagonist

Naturally Koya knew what a Domain Manifest was… sure it was a classic in most novels but that didn't change things.

Mages of high ranks who had mastered their affinities to a very high level were able to manifest their Domains and Domains in this world were a physical manifestation of a mage's internal mana that was pushed outward until it saturates and reshapes the space around them into an extension of themselves.

It only worked for Silver crest users and it was based on their affinity as well, if you had an Ice affinity, you couldn't expect to use a fire Domain Manifest but since Todd dealt with pure mana, his domain was exactly like this.

Koya closed his eyes as the white consumed them but for some reason, he didn't die… He opened his eyes and saw that they were covered in a completely purple zone, within this world of white, it looked like a completely purple orb around them.

"Don't worry Master…" Riffi said from the ground in front of him as she gritted her teeth and amplified her Mini-Domain. "I'll protect all of us."

"Riffi…" Koya muttered, she had shrunk her Mini-Domain's range into that of a medium sized orb so that she would be able to defend them better. "Is there anything we can do?"

Outside the purple boundary, the white was total.

He turned to Tori, the only way to defeat an awakened who had manifested their domain was to manifest a domain of an equal rank but neither of them were Silver crest and even Riffi had a Mini-Domain which was why she was forced on the defensive.

"I apologize Hubby but there's nothing we can do." Tori said. "The mana outside is so volatile that even if the Domain fails to hold for a few seconds, we'll all inflate and die. If his output was 20x more than usual before, he's at 60x and climbing even higher…"

Sixty times… and still climbing? Koya did not say anything out loud about that number.

She pressed her hands against the ground and immediately a barrier of blood erected around Riffi's domain, however the mana in the air didn't even let it completely form as the blood turned white and exploded.

It didn't even last three seconds.

The Domain Manifest chewed through it like it was nothing.

'It might be the last time me and Hubby see each other.' She thought while gritting her teeth, and contrary to being a proper wife, she hadn't even consummated their Blood marriage. 'Should I start now?'

At least they were going to die together with Riffi… Dying alongside your Blood Husband was one of the most glorious honors of a Vampire wife.

She had read that in a book once, at the time she thought it was romantic but right now with the white mana pressing against the orb from every direction she was less certain about the glorious part.

'System, do you think we can do anything?'

「Your best option right now will be to wait, Derek Todd's body is destabilizing and upon reaching 100x multiplier, there is a 100% chance that his body explodes」

'Wait.' Koya thought. 'That's the best option you have… Wait.'

He looked at the cracks forming on the orb and Riffi's shaking body and decided that waiting was not going to work.

"RAHHHHH!!" Todd shouted out as his body trembled and the mana in the air grew stronger as well making Riffi grit her teeth even more, the ground below them lit up as blue light converged below them and a geyser of mana erupted from below, bouncing off the domain but covering the sides completely as it went into the air.

Several geysers also erupted in front and behind them as well.

The orb held but the purple flickered with each hit. Every geyser that bounced off left a mark on the surface like a bruise forming on skin.

"Haaah…" Riffi whimpered but kept holding her domain, drawing upon the void reserves she had to make it stronger.

Her whole body was shaking.

The Mini-Domain wasn't designed for this… it was a combat tool, not an impenetrable fortress wall and she was forcing it to be one.

Koya felt helpless, there was nothing he could do in a situation such as this one… He needed a plan of attack.

'Is there nothing I can really do? Riffi is not going to last for that long.' He thought and Todd trembled again and the mana surged forward from his side, simultaneously unleashing everything in their side of the domain.

BOOM!

Riffi's domain trembled as it was hit by the full force of mana but she held on as cracks formed in her domain, Tori lifted her hand and materialized blood over the cracks and they overheated but this gave Riffi enough time to reinforce them again.

The cracks kept forming faster than they were being patched. Tori's blood was overheating the moment it touched the surface but she kept her hands up anyway.

"Master… the mana is climbing even more." Riffi let out. "My Domain might not hold for much longer."

With another roar from Todd, needles made of mana in the air were shot at Riffi's domain, hitting it repeatedly.

Each one that hit the orb made a sound like something trying to drill through glass. Riffi flinched every time one connected and didn't let herself look away from the cracks she was patching.

One thing he noticed through this whole thing was that Todd hadn't moved once after getting into that weird stance, sure his body was overheating and turning red now but still…

What was stopping him from flying at them like before and pounding his fists against the Domain, effectively killing them?

'Maybe he can't.' Koya thought. 'Maybe at this multiplication his body can't even move anymore since the output is holding him in place.'

That sounded like a plan.

'Analyze if there's a way to reduce or increase his output?' Koya thought, reducing his output would make sure that Riffi could rest and increasing it would stop all these barrages and release everything at once.

「Analyzing…」

Todd didn't roar this time but mana began covering his stationary body in white flames…

He had been burning so much mana that he had practically turned himself into a living fireball, on the other hand, more cracks were forming and being healed on the barrier at the same time with the combined efforts of Tori and Riffi.

He looked like a sun that was seconds from going supernova.

「Analyze complete... It is impossible to reduce the current output of the body but it is very possible to increase it with the help of an item on hand; The Hollowblade. Throwing the item directly at the cerebral epicenter or otherwise the center of the forehead will trigger a faster multiplication to eliminate the blade.」

'I guess I have to throw it in the center…' He thought, but there was barely any way to do it… Riffi needed to pour all of her final power to defend them from the explosion. 'Since I can't use Mana, will Fighting Spirit defend me from being burned alive from his mana?'

「Using the full power of Fighting Spirit will help you survive outside the domain for 10 seconds at most」

"I see." Koya said and Tori turned to him but he was looking at Riffi. "I have a plan Riffi, do you have more energy?"

"I do, but we won't last for much longer Master." Riffi said, another crack forming on the orb as she spoke. "What do you plan to do?"

"I plan to push him to explode instantly but for that, you'll need to let me out of the barrier for a bit." Koya said. "I just have to get a shot i–"

"I'd rather die than let you die Master." Riffi said. "So you just need to–"

He patted her head with a smile.

"Thank you for protecting us, you've done a lot… and you'll keep doing a lot more so let me help you now." Koya said and Riffi trembled before looking downward.

"Alright Master, you win… you can leave but please don't hurt yourself." She said, and though there weren't any visible changes… Koya felt like he could go out now.

Riffi opened a part of the orb that was glowing in a pink color and it was just big enough for one person.

It would let him pass through.

"Now I need a proper body…" He said, his hand and leg were still busted and healing but Tori knelt beside him.

"Let me do it hubby…" She said while placing her hand on his body, and blood flowed outward forming a hand over his healing one, forming limbs for him.

Koya lifted his new hand and it moved exactly like his old one except it felt slimy, for some reason, he could feel it. He flexed the fingers and they responded. It wasn't his hand but it would do for ten seconds.

"Thank you."

He walked to the far back of the Mini domain which wasn't that far while keeping his eyes closely on Todd's head, there was still a chance that they died here but it was better to try than to wait for their deaths.

The distance from the edge of the orb to Todd wasn't far at all. That was the problem… he had ten seconds outside and he needed all of them for the throw to count.

He covered every part of his body with Fighting Spirit, watching as the red aura snaked around him… he drew upon more of this physical power and he planned to use Full Body Strike too.

He pulled every last single bit of it he had. Ten seconds was ten seconds, he wasn't going to waste a single one of them hesitating.

Koya summoned Hollowblade and ran forward as fast as his body could take him leaving the Domain immediately, the instant he came outside, it felt like his body was about to collapse in on itself despite the Fighting Spirit covering him…

The sheer amount of mana in the air bent his knees but he didn't give, he angled his hand backward and kept his eyes on the prize as the seconds ticked by.

Five seconds was gone already… He could feel his skin burning through the coating then he threw Hollowblade with his good hand, using Full Body Strike and successfully breaking his hand but Hollowblade snaked through the air even with the pressure of mana as it was covered completely by Fighting Spirit.

The weapon lodged itself in the middle of his head and for a moment, he remained standing still and then Hollowblade began overheating.

The blade had found something to cut at the source, every unit of mana his body was producing was running straight into it.

"E… ED… ED…"

The flames intensified around his body and white light escaped from his eyes, nose and mouth.

"I… I… I HATE YOU…"

The Domain didn't fade, it instead pumped even more as Todd reached 100x multiplication.

"He's about to blow!" Tori let out however Koya had already entered the Domain again and Riffi had reinforced it as much as she could, He pulled Tori and Riffi into a hug using his back to protect them.

'If this doesn't work then at least they won't see it coming.' He thought, he kept his back to Todd and didn't look.

'There's no need…' Riffi wanted to say that the dimension was coming apart so her void was much stronger now but was there a need to?

Her master was willing to risk his life to keep her safe… She loved it and closed her eyes as the explosion hit.

The white consumed everything at once.

In the Irongate district, several people looked up as a beam of light shot up from the center of Building C into the air covering the place in a blinding light and what followed was the complete explosion of Building C.

The building didn't just crumble, it detonated. Every floor went simultaneously and the irst shockwave hit the street before the sound did.

The building shattered completely and shockwaves were sent all around the town and on this street, Yoru walked… while people were screaming and running away, she walked to a specific place which was a small building on the side.

It looked like nothing from the outside and that was probably the point.

The girl knocked twice on the door and a small patch opened with a robotic eyeball staring at her.

It scanned her from top to bottom.

「Beep… Verified」

The door slid to the side and she entered, going downstairs…

As she went down the staircase, it was like she was stepping into a new world entirely and the moment she took another step, the world around her became white revealing the usual white room with red lines running everywhere that glowed once in every few minutes.

The transition was always disorienting… from one step on a normal staircase, the next step would take her somewhere else entirely.

There were a few Mimicbots holding cartons and they greeted her as she came by.

As Yoru passed by, she could see a few open rooms but these were simply the rooms where blood was kept.

She kept walking and didn't look into the rooms longer than a second each.

'Like Koya-kun said, If I want to ascend my clan to the rank of Great clan… I needed to commit genocide.' Yoru thought, to be able to do it… She needed a stronger ally than even Koya-kun who gave her the idea and wanted nothing to do with her.

Even if it was an enemy that was at large in the Awakened world… To eliminate the Kurohane clan, she needed to become the ally of evil.

She had made her peace with that before she knocked on the door.

Yoru walked to the end of the hallway and a big white door opened revealing a long meeting table.

Around this room were tubes that were connected to the ceiling and she could see that several of these tubes were full of blood and one even had an arm that was surrounded in the blood as well as the leg and further behind the meeting room suspended in green liquid was a baby with a collar around its neck.

Yoru kept her expression flat, she had prepared herself to see things that would unsettle her in this place since this was her first time actually here so she didn't show weakness.

However on the other end of the meeting table was a woman sitting with a smile on her face, she had a mix of blond and white hair and sat with both legs on the table.

This was the Question Mark… Yoru had to admit, she had expected it to be a man at first but just because ? was a woman didn't change anything.

It changed nothing. Power was power and a deal was a deal.

"Welcome Yoru~ Did you get what I want?" ? sat properly on her chair and Yoru took a seat as well.

She kept her back straight and her hands flat on the table.

They had a deal… as long as Yoru could give her what she wanted, she would help her take out the Kurohane family, it's not like she could kill them at once.

She had to whittle at their numbers.

"Yes, I did." Yoru said calmly, she wasn't sure why ? was showing her some of her operations but she could guess it was because ? didn't see her as a threat.

Yoru's hand glowed as she brought out a ring from her storage ring and pushed it forward, letting her catch it.

She had worn that ring since she was seven years old, her grandfather had put it on her finger himself but she kept her face neutral as ? picked it up.

"Oho, so you did." ? said. "This is one of your clan's heirlooms, the Ring Of Shadows lets the user have access to a small world of shadows at their beck and call. Thank you for giving it to me."

"N-no problem…" Yoru said. "Now can we start?"

"Yes, the ring of shadows is worth about the lives of five mid ranking Kurohane or a high ranking member of the Kurohane clan." ? told her. "Talia, be a dear and come here for a minute."

A woman stepped out of the shadows, she wore a long dress that looked like a Saintess from novels that Yoru had read but her clothes were all black and she clasped her hands together while her face was completely covered by a veil even the hands were gloved.

There was not a single visible part of her.

"I would like to kill a high-ranking member of the Kurohane clan, namely one of the three heirs." Yoru said. "Kurohane Daichi."

"Your wish…" The woman in the veils spoke as her palms glowed in blue light and then faded. "Has been granted."
