Chapter 505 Childhood Playmates
Upon hearing Li Wei’s words, Lin Kuang’s expression changed drastically. He knew of Nameless’s power; indeed, Nameless was the strongest person he had ever met.
However, such a powerful master was only considered upper-middle tier within the Nangong family. It was terrifying to imagine the full extent of the Nangong family’s might!
"What exactly is the Nangong family’s status? Why are they so powerful?" Lin Kuang couldn’t help but ask, taking a deep breath.
"The Nangong family is one of the most mysterious and powerful families in the Ancient Martial Realm. They reside within the Hundred Thousand Mountains, making their exact location difficult to pinpoint. Even our Wumi Building only knows the general vicinity. As for the Hundred Thousand Mountains, they are the Kunlun Mountains.
"Furthermore, your mother, Nangong Wenxue, is the daughter of the Nangong Family Head. If you want to bring her back, it’s impossible unless you possess the strength to challenge the entire Nangong family."
Li Wei’s tone was perfectly calm. The Nangong family was an incredibly terrifying entity, one that even the Wumi Building was wary of. However, despite their wariness, those great families didn’t dare make a move against the Wumi Building. After all, the Wumi Building’s strength was plain to see. Moreover, it controlled a vast amount of information. If this information were ever made public, not even the Nangong family could afford to underestimate the consequences.
Therefore, the Wumi Building occupied a very balanced position in the world, and it was within this state of equilibrium that it had continuously grown stronger, eventually reaching its current status.
Listening to Li Wei, Lin Kuang’s expression grew grim. Although he was desperate to rescue his mother, he now saw it was clearly impossible.
Lin Kuang estimated that he would only possess the power to rival Nameless after he had fully mastered the Eight Gates Escape Technique. But Nameless was merely in the upper-middle tier of the Nangong family. Even if Lin Kuang had Nameless’s strength, it would be useless against the entire family. The gap was simply too vast.
"Thank you, Mr. Li. I understand. I won’t do anything reckless," Lin Kuang said, forcing himself to calm down.
"Good. I hope you don’t take any unnecessary risks. On another note, I’ve already arranged for people to go to the East Sea to protect the Young Miss. Please don’t mind, Mr. Lin," Li Wei said with a smile.
Hearing this, Lin Kuang shook his head with a smile. He hadn’t wanted to use the Wumi Building’s power before. Now that he had revealed Liu Fengchun’s situation, however, he knew they would definitely send protection.
"Of course I don’t mind. Thank you, Mr. Li," Lin Kuang said gratefully.
"It’s no trouble; it’s what I should do. Mr. Lin, if you need anything in the future, you can call my private cell phone or go directly to Chen Feng. We will get you whatever information you want as quickly as possible," Li Wei said with a smile. Since Lin Kuang was both an old friend and the son-in-law of Liu Fengchun, Li Wei would naturally do everything in his power to help.
"Alright, I’ll be counting on you then, Mr. Li," Lin Kuang said once more.
"It’s no trouble at all. Let’s leave it at that for now. We can talk more when we have time," Li Wei said warmly. Lin Kuang agreed with a smile, and the two ended the call.
After hanging up, Lin Kuang lay back down on the bed. The immense pressure of the Nangong family weighed on his mind like a heavy stone, making it difficult to breathe.
Forget it. That goal is too lofty, and it’s not something I can consider right now. I should focus on improving my strength first.
With that thought, he sat cross-legged on the bed and began his cultivation of True Qi.
「The night passed without incident.」
At five o’clock the next morning, Lin Kuang woke up right on schedule. Getting out of bed, he walked familiarly into the bathroom to freshen up before heading out to the courtyard.
By this time, his grandfather was already outside, being helped from his room by the caregiver. He was moving around gently, stretching his old bones. Seeing this, Lin Kuang quickly walked over, dismissed the caregiver, and took over helping his grandfather walk around the courtyard. Grandfather and grandson chatted and laughed together, enjoying the pleasant atmosphere.
When it was time for breakfast, they went back inside, and the three of them ate and talked together. After breakfast, Lin Guodong left. He had official duties and couldn’t stay home resting all the time.
The old man sat in the courtyard soaking up the sun while Lin Kuang stood behind him, massaging his shoulders and continuously channeling True Qi into his body.
After they had lunch, the old man went to rest. Lin Kuang, with nothing to do, sat quietly under the old locust tree, lost in thought.
Just then, a military vehicle came roaring up and screeched to a halt in front of the gate. Immediately, two men jumped out.
"Kuang Bro, you’re finally back!" the two shouted as they entered the courtyard, their excitement obvious.
Seeing the two men, Lin Kuang smiled faintly. "You two sure got the news fast. But keep it down, the old man is resting."
Lin Kuang naturally recognized them. They were his two best friends, all three having grown up together in the same compound. The taller one was named Song Lingping, and the shorter one was Su Huachen.
"Oh, is the old man sleeping?" Song Lingping and Su Huachen said, looking slightly embarrassed. If they had known he was asleep, they wouldn’t have dared to be so loud. After all, he was a man they deeply respected.
The three of them stood under the tree, smiling at each other.
"You two rascals, your strength has improved nicely. It seems you haven’t been slacking off this past year," Lin Kuang said with a laugh, looking them over. Seeing his friends had truly lifted his spirits.
"Heh heh, you know it! We’ve been working our tails off to catch up to you, Kuang Bro," Song Lingping said with a smug grin.
"You brat, still showing off," Lin Kuang chuckled. "Why are you two out at this time? No duties at the base?"
"What duties? It’s just training and more training. Besides, it’s no big deal for us to slip out for a bit. Especially with you back, Kuang Bro, we had to come see you," Song Lingping said with a grin.
"Yeah right, is that all?" Lin Kuang asked with a sly smile, knowing full well this guy was always up to something.
"Ahem, well, there is something else," Song Lingping said with a chuckle. "Feifei, Yanyu, and Yingying also heard you were back. So, the gang wants to get together tonight. We came to check on you and to give you a heads-up."
"I knew there was something more to it. I get it. You guys can make the arrangements for tonight," Lin Kuang said with a laugh. With these two, he didn’t need to be formal.
"Of course! We have to arrange it tonight to give you a proper welcome home, Kuang Bro," Su Huachen chimed in from the side with a smile.
