Chapter 493: Mocking at the Door
"Of course, I’m very willing to do so," Gao Dongran said with a smile.
Once the matter had been decided, both parties discussed some details before dispersing.
Driving his car, Gao Dongran glanced at Gao Li in the rearview mirror and spoke. "Gao Li, thanks."
Gao Dongran said this with genuine gratitude. It was only then that he realized Gao Li was no ordinary man.
Gao Li froze, stunned. He had never expected the perpetually disagreeable Gao Dongran to actually thank him. After a brief pause, Gao Li chuckled. "I am a member of the Gao Family."
The simple words sent a jolt through Gao Dongran’s heart. Yes, Gao Li is a member of the Gao Family. That’s enough.
Meanwhile, Lin Kuang was at the office having a meal, completely unaware that Gao Li and Fan Qing had already conspired to kill him.
After eating, Lin Kuang, Duoduo, and Susu began washing the dishes. After all, this could be considered his forte.
Having tidied up, the idle Lin Kuang strolled around the office, chatting with Yang Ruotong for a bit, then with Yang Ruoxi. Seeing that the Witch had nothing to do, Lin Kuang took her to Lin Guo’er’s office, since Lin Guo’er hadn’t come in today.
Once there, Lin Kuang naturally didn’t let the opportunity pass and had his way with the Witch right in Lin Guo’er’s office. The encounter left her feeling both embarrassed and furious, but even more than that, she savored the thrilling pleasure. It was her first time doing something like this here, and the clandestine feeling was far more stimulating than usual.
Just before it was time to pick up little Xinxin from school, Lin Kuang drove off and returned to the villa with her in tow.
By this time, Lin Guo’er was already awake, but she was too sore to go to work.
Seeing Lin Kuang return, Lin Guo’er couldn’t help but glare at him fiercely. It’s all this bastard’s fault for being so intense last night! It pushed me to the brink of ecstasy...
Noticing her glare, Lin Kuang chuckled mischievously. "I was just wondering if I should pay a visit to your room tonight."
His words startled Lin Guo’er. If Lin Kuang came again tonight, she certainly wouldn’t be able to take it.
"Jerk! Go bully someone else tonight!" Lin Guo’er said irritably. She was still aching.
"So you dare talk back to me now?" Lin Kuang asked with a smirk, a hint of triumph on his face.
"Hmph, I can’t be bothered with you. I’m taking Xinxin upstairs to do her homework," Lin Guo’er huffed, turning to lead the little girl upstairs.
Seeing this, Lin Kuang chuckled to himself. Although Lin Guo’er hadn’t admitted it, he knew she was afraid of him now. Pleased with himself, Lin Kuang sat on the sofa to watch TV, his mood exceptionally good.
Before long, Liu Shilin, Yang Ruotong, and the others returned one by one. Once all four women were back, the villa instantly buzzed with life. Everyone sat together, chatting animatedly, and the atmosphere was wonderful. In the midst of their conversation, Liu Shilin and Yang Ruotong went to the kitchen to cook.
A moment later, Lin Kuang’s phone chimed with a text message. He pulled it out and saw that it was, surprisingly, from Shen Yanxia.
As he read the message, a cold smile spread across his face, mixed with a feeling of gratitude toward the girl. Shen Yanxia’s text clearly described the alliance between Gao Dongran and the Fan Family.
Frankly, this caught Lin Kuang by surprise. The Fan Family’s financial empire was already immense, so why would they ally with the Gao Family? There had to be something fishy going on, but Lin Kuang had no idea what it could be.
I hope their cooperation is just superficial. If it’s a deep partnership, the Gao Family, with the support of the Fan Family’s business empire, could spell trouble for the situation in Yanjing.
After all, Yanjing’s four major families had achieved a stable balance through mutual restraint. If the Fan Family rashly intervened to support the Gao Family, that equilibrium would inevitably be shattered, which was not something Lin Kuang wanted to see. However, he figured the Fan Family wasn’t foolish. They probably wouldn’t support the Gao Family so fervently, not unless they wanted to enter the realm of political struggle.
Fine, I’ll just wipe them all out this time. The Fan Family, the Gao Family... what’s one more battle?! Lin Kuang snorted inwardly, his gaze turning icy.
With that thought, he sent a reply to Shen Yanxia expressing his thanks. She responded quickly, telling him not to stand on ceremony and to be careful. Lin Kuang didn’t think much of it, assuming she was just being polite.
That night, after dinner, Lin Kuang chatted with the women in the main hall while he waited for Gao Dongran to arrive.
Sure enough, around nine o’clock, a black Audi pulled up at the mansion’s main gate. Gao Dongran stepped out of the car and strode into the villa.
Upon seeing him, Liu Shilin and Lin Guo’er were taken aback. They had met Gao Dongran before and knew his relationship with Lin Kuang was poor. With that in mind, the two women glanced at Lin Kuang.
Lin Kuang simply smiled and shook his head at them. Just then, Gao Dongran entered the hall.
The man was incredibly arrogant, walking straight in without even taking off his shoes. When he saw the scene in the hall, he was momentarily stunned. Any man would have ideas seeing this. Lin Kuang was surrounded by five top-tier beauties, each with her own distinct style. It was a scene every man dreamed of, and Gao Dongran was no exception.
"Lin Kuang, you really know how to enjoy life," Gao Dongran said arrogantly, looking down on him. "A harem of beauties is a hero’s tomb. It looks like you’ve become so lost in women that your end is near."
Hearing his words, the five women’s expressions darkened, and they were about to retort.
Lin Kuang waved his hand, silencing them. "Is that so? Perhaps," he said with a smirk. "But the one to kill me definitely won’t be you. After all, you’re just a little pawn who only got to climb the ranks after I was gone, and that was only because I had you suppressed for so many years. You don’t have the strength to kill me. You’re not worthy."
These words were a crushing blow to Gao Dongran. His face flushed red, his eyes burning with anger.
What Lin Kuang said touched upon Gao Dongran’s sorest point—the one thing he hated anyone mentioning. For the very person who had suppressed him to be the one to bring it up now was enough to thoroughly ignite the rage in his heart.
"Lin Kuang, don’t get ahead of yourself! The past is the past, and it’s not worth talking about. Do you really think you’re a match for me now?!" Gao Dongran said furiously.
"I couldn’t care less whether I’m your match, because you’re not qualified to find out," Lin Kuang said indifferently. "Besides, what are you doing here? You aren’t welcome."
