Chapter 484: News of Mu Wan
At that moment, Lin Kuang had just finished his meal and was sitting in his car. Just as he was preparing to leave, his phone suddenly rang.
He took out his phone and was surprised to see that the call was from Chen Feng.
Seeing the name, a sense of anticipation rose in Lin Kuang’s heart. Could it be that they found news about Mu Wan?
With that thought, Lin Kuang quickly answered the phone. "Hello, Mr. Chen," he asked with a smile, his tone filled with expectation.
"Mr. King of the Underworld, just moments ago, Heno Sumio, the number three figure in the Yamaguchi-gumi, was inquiring about you," Chen Feng replied, his voice full of respect. "Our Wumi Building has already refused his request, as you are one of the few individuals under our protection. At the same time, our investigation into Heno Sumio has revealed that he is currently in the East Sea. It appears he is planning to make a move against you."
Hearing this, Lin Kuang felt a pang of disappointment. He had hoped for news about Mu Wan, but it turned out to be about someone from the Yamaguchi-gumi instead.
"I understand. For those people from the Yamaguchi-gumi to dare enter the East Sea... they must have a death wish," Lin Kuang said, his brow furrowing. "Mr. Chen, is there still no news about Mu Wan and Nameless?"
"We have found information about the Nameless Sword, but it’s only a rumor," Chen Feng said respectfully. "The legend says that if the Nameless Sword and the Slash Path Sword are brought together, they will reveal a Treasure Map hidden within them. That treasure is said to contain endless wealth and Martial Arts Manuals.
"According to our investigation, this rumor seems to have started circulating during the Late Qing Dynasty. As for its origin, the trail is too old for us to trace.
"We have also found some information about the Slash Path Sword, which is ranked alongside the Nameless Sword. It was reportedly seen near Heavenly Mountain about ten years ago. We haven’t identified its current holder yet and might need more time.
"As for Ms. Mu Wan, we have confirmed her identity. We can be certain she is currently in the Island Country, but we are still investigating her specific location."
Hearing this, Lin Kuang’s brow furrowed involuntarily. He had heard the legend of Nameless before, but the fact that the wielder of the Slash Path Sword had appeared near Heavenly Mountain ten years ago was truly unexpected. Of course, he was not particularly interested in these matters; his only concern was Mu Wan.
When Chen Feng confirmed that Mu Wan was in the Island Country, Lin Kuang’s expression turned grim.
"All right, keep searching. Let me know immediately if you find anything," Lin Kuang said.
"Yes, Mr. King of the Underworld. I will notify you the moment we have any news," Chen Feng replied.
Lin Kuang nodded, and the two ended the call.
Staring ahead vacantly, a trace of worry flashed in Lin Kuang’s eyes. If Mu Wan was indeed in the Island Country, then she was undoubtedly in grave danger and likely already under their control. At this thought, his mood soured, and he grew irritable. Mulling things over, he dialed Huo Feifei’s number. The girl was a computer expert and might be able to help.
It was not long before Huo Feifei answered the phone. Seeing that it was Lin Kuang calling, she was overjoyed. "Big Brother Kuang, you finally decided to call me?" she said with a smile, her tone slightly coquettish.
Her cheerful voice calmed Lin Kuang’s restless heart, and he could not help but smile. "Of course. You’re so cute, how could I not think of you?"
"Hmph, I don’t believe you. You must need something. Go ahead and ask, Big Brother Kuang," Huo Feifei teased, smiling sweetly.
Hearing this, Lin Kuang coughed awkwardly. "COUGH, COUGH. You’re right, there is something. Feifei, I found out that Wan’er is in the Island Country. Could you use the internet to help me look for her?"
"Oh? Sister Wan’er is in the Island Country?" Huo Feifei asked, sounding surprised.
Lin Kuang nodded and replied in a firm tone, "Yes, Wan’er is in the Island Country, but I’m not sure where exactly. I was hoping you could look into it and see if you can find any clues."
"Okay, I’ll start searching as soon as I have time. But, Big Brother Kuang, this might take quite a while," Huo Feifei said, sounding a little troubled.
"I understand," Lin Kuang said with a smile. "It’s already been this long. I’m not in a rush, as long as we can find her."
"All right then, I’ll start searching later," Huo Feifei replied, nodding with a smile.
"My people here will also continue the search," Lin Kuang added.
"Okay. Big Brother Kuang, when are you coming back? A lot of people in Yanjing really miss you," Huo Feifei said, her face blushing. In truth, it was she who missed Lin Kuang the most, but it was also true that many of his old friends missed him.
Lin Kuang paused for a moment, then smiled. "I’ll find a chance to come back after a while."
"That’s great! You must let me know when you’re back so I can throw a welcome-back party for you," Huo Feifei said, clearly in a very good mood.
The two chatted for a while longer before hanging up.
"Wan’er," Lin Kuang muttered, looking up at the sky. "After all this time, are you all right?"
After a long moment, he collected his thoughts and checked the time. It was almost 4 p.m. He decided to drive straight to little Xinxin’s kindergarten. After all, she was about to finish school, and there was no point in him going to the office so late.
Parking his car beside the kindergarten, Lin Kuang walked to the entrance to wait. In about fifteen minutes, little Xinxin came out with a group of friends. Seeing Lin Kuang, the little girl happily ran over.
"Uncle!" she called out cheerily.
Lin Kuang grinned and joyfully scooped her up into his arms. "Little girl, let’s go home."
Little Xinxin nodded happily, and they drove home together.
Meanwhile, in Gao Dongran’s office, Gao Li stood to the side, speaking to Gao Dongran with a helpless expression. "That woman from the Eagle Sect is very formidable. My people couldn’t find a shred of evidence linking her to Lin Kuang. It seems impossible to find anything on her," he said, feeling gloomy. He had not expected the woman named Zhang Lianmei to be so impenetrably flawless and powerful; he knew he would not stand a chance against her himself.
Hearing Gao Li’s words, Gao Dongran shot him a scornful look. "Is this the result you’re giving me?"
Although Gao Dongran was dismissive of Gao Li, he knew his own father held the man in high regard, which was a testament to Gao Li’s abilities. Yet now, he could not even handle a single woman, which left Gao Dongran quite disappointed. Coupled with his long-standing annoyance with Gao Li, he could not help but speak sarcastically.
