Chapter 483: Movements from All Sides
Although Lin Kuang grumbled to himself, it was pointless. His complaints were just fleeting thoughts.
Shen Yanxia truly was a crier. She had been weeping for nearly half an hour before her sobs finally subsided into quiet sniffles.
"Alright, now that you understand your sister’s good intentions, you should make up with her. She was miserable when the two of you were at odds," Lin Kuang said with a comforting smile, gently patting her shoulder.
"Yes, I understand now. Thank you. And about the other day... I-I’m sorry," Shen Yanxia said, her head bowed as she stepped out of Lin Kuang’s embrace, her heart filled with remorse.
"It’s okay. No one is a saint, and even saints make mistakes, let alone ordinary people. What matters is that you learn from your mistakes. Also, I need to remind you of something. Gao Dongran’s presence in your life might not be out of love, but a desire to gain the Shen Family’s support. Of course, that’s just my gut feeling. I’ve known him for many years, so I’m well aware of the kind of person he is. Maybe I’m wrong and he truly likes you. If that’s the case, then I wish you both happiness," Lin Kuang said with a smile.
In truth, Lin Kuang didn’t want to say any of this, but Shen Yanxia was Shen Yanyu’s sister. For Shen Yanyu’s sake, he felt obligated to speak up.
Hearing this, Shen Yanxia nodded gently. "Yes, I understand. I’m not a child. I’ll handle it."
She looked up at Lin Kuang, her beautiful, tear-stained face conveying a striking seriousness that tugged at the heartstrings. Moved by a sense of tenderness, Lin Kuang raised a hand and wiped the tear tracks from her pretty cheeks.
"Alright, no more crying. I’ll take you back," Lin Kuang said, his tone incredibly gentle as he smiled.
A shiver ran through Shen Yanxia’s delicate frame. A feeling she had never experienced before began to blossom in her heart—a feeling she had always longed for but never found.
"Okay. Thank you, Lin Kuang," she said again.
"It’s nothing. It’s what I should do. Let’s go," Lin Kuang replied with a smile, letting his hand fall.
As his hand moved away, a slight pang of loss struck Shen Yanxia’s heart, as if she had lost something precious.
Lin Kuang drove Shen Yanxia to a shopping mall. He couldn’t take her all the way home, as it would be problematic if Gao Dongran saw them together. After parting ways with Shen Yanxia, Lin Kuang checked the time. To his dismay, he realized it was already afternoon and he still hadn’t eaten. So, he found a restaurant for a meal.
「Meanwhile, the entire Ancient Martial Realm within the country was in an uproar.」
Somehow, news had spread that Lin Kuang had single-handedly confronted the Pei Family. He had not only severely injured Pei Kuohai but had also escaped effortlessly from the combined might of Pei Jingcheng, Pei Jingqi, and Pei Kuoyan.
When this news broke, it sent shockwaves through the entire Ancient Martial Realm. While it might not have been a cataclysmic event, the name Lin Kuang had, at the very least, exploded onto the scene. These three were all renowned masters. The fact that they couldn’t stop a single young man like Lin Kuang, even when ganging up on him, highlighted just how terrifying his strength truly was.
This development forced several families who had been planning to send people to seize Lin Kuang’s sword to reconsider their strategies. After all, with Lin Kuang’s power, sending ordinary elites would be futile.
The Pei Family was the most frustrated of all. The incident was already humiliating, but for the news to spread so widely left a bitter taste in their mouths.
Naturally, the news also reached Pei Yuandong. Upon learning of Lin Kuang’s formidable display, Pei Yuandong could clearly sense that his rival’s strength had grown once again.
"Truly worthy of the man who defeated me. Lin Kuang, when we meet again, I will challenge you!" Pei Yuandong declared, his fighting spirit surging within his room.
「At the same time, the Chen Family of the Tai Chi tradition also fell silent.」
They had heard the news as well and were, for a moment, at a loss for what to do. After Chen Zhongxiang had returned last time, he had argued fiercely with Chen Lingzhen and refused to act again, giving Chen Lingzhen a major headache. Now, even if Chen Lingzhen himself were to make a move, he wasn’t confident he could kill Lin Kuang. That was the most critical point. They couldn’t possibly ask his second uncle to intervene, could they? Thus, the Chen Family was unsure how to proceed, and many families across the Ancient Martial Realm began discussing how to deal with Lin Kuang.
「In the Fan Family, inside Fan Wudao’s office, his expression was just as grim.」
He had assumed that sending Fan Zeyu would guarantee Lin Kuang’s death. Yet, Lin Kuang was still alive, which meant, without a doubt, that Fan Zeyu was dead.
"Lin Kuang, you’ve really become a headache," Fan Wudao muttered to himself.
Having already committed to acting against Lin Kuang, he had no intention of letting him go. He was determined to see Lin Kuang dead. This time, however, he needed to rethink his strategy and calculate how to guarantee a fatal blow on the first strike. Fan Wudao didn’t want to fail again. It was time for Lin Kuang to die.
「Elsewhere, in the conference room of Mitsubishi’s East Sea domestic headquarters, a group from the Island Country had gathered.」
Over twenty people sat around the table. They were all members of the Yamaguchi-gumi, the secret power behind the Mitsubishi corporation. These members had come with a single purpose: to eliminate Lin Kuang. He had disrupted too many of their operations, especially those involving the Island Country’s military, an interference the pro-war faction could no longer tolerate.
However, the Island Country’s military personnel could not act directly due to repeated failures. Hua Country had fiercely criticized them, and its statements were thick with the threat of war. The message was clear: if the Island Country dared to do anything else that harmed Hua Country, Hua Country wouldn’t hesitate to go to war.
This had thoroughly intimidated the Island Country. Though they wished to overpower Hua Country, they simply lacked the ability. Without their "godfather," America, backing them, they wouldn’t even have the courage to challenge Hua Country. Consequently, the military ceased its direct operations, instead dispatching the Yamaguchi-gumi, with whom they had always worked closely. This way, if anything went wrong in Hua Country, the Island Country’s government could easily explain it away.
This time, the Yamaguchi-gumi had sent a true heavyweight: the organization’s third-in-command, a man named Heno Sumio.
"Gentlemen, we just arrived in East Sea today, and by all rights, we should be resting," Heno Sumio began, looking at his subordinates. "However, this matter is both urgent and critical, a fact I’m sure you are all well aware of. So, I want you to immediately begin your investigation into the identity of this Chinaman, Lin Kuang. I need a complete and thorough dossier."
In reality, Heno Sumio was quite displeased. He had already contacted the Wumi Building to inquire about Lin Kuang’s identity—money, after all, was no object for him. However, the Wumi Building had refused his request. They neither confirmed nor denied knowing Lin Kuang’s identity, a response that infuriated him.
