Chapter 460: Inside the Fan Family
At that moment, Fan Wudao, the Family Head of the Fan Family, received news of the Shadow Guard’s death. His expression turned grim.
The Shadow Guard is dead. It seems Lin Kuang’s strength is even greater than I imagined, he murmured to himself, a murderous glint flashing in his eyes.
Fan Bingbing was already under his surveillance. Of course, it was a subtle form of monitoring that didn’t strip her of any rights. After all, as the Family Head, he had to maintain a façade of "justice." However, he had all of her communication devices monitored, and any text message she sent was immediately intercepted. This was the reason Lin Kuang hadn’t heard from her in days!
Only my son can take the position of Family Head of the Fan Family! No one else is worthy! Lin Kuang, is it? Fine. This time, I’ll send you to your grave. You are as good as dead.
With that thought, Fan Wudao picked up the office phone and dialed a number. Within moments, the call connected.
"Hello, Family Head."
The man on the other end spoke in a calm tone, which held not a hint of respect, but rather a touch of disdain and hatred.
"Fan Zeyu, go kill someone for me. His name is Lin Kuang. He’s in the East Sea; once you arrive, someone will tell you his location. Don’t refuse me, because my condition is one you cannot refuse! If you kill Lin Kuang, I will release Qu Xinmeng. Otherwise, I will kill her!" Fan Wudao said, his voice cold and devoid of any human warmth.
Hearing this, Fan Zeyu wanted to refuse, but the name Qu Xinmeng made his expression turn ugly, even savage.
"Fan Wudao, may you die a horrible death! Using my woman to threaten me... you’re nothing but scum! Just remember, after I kill Lin Kuang, you’d better release Xinmeng. If you don’t, I swear I’ll kill you!" Fan Zeyu snarled, his voice brimming with killing intent.
Hearing the raw murderous intent in Fan Zeyu’s voice, even Fan Wudao frowned slightly. "I always keep my word. Kill Lin Kuang, and I will release Qu Xinmeng," he repeated before hanging up.
Listening to the dial tone, Fan Zeyu’s eyes turned ice-cold.
Lin Kuang, is it? Forgive me... I have to do this to save my woman, he thought, a hint of apology in his otherwise detached tone.
The next moment, he took a shower, got dressed, and left his room, heading for the East Sea.
Meanwhile, in her room, Fan Bingbing wore a pained and troubled expression. For days, not a single one of her messages to Lin Kuang had received a reply, leaving her incredibly frustrated. After sending another one, she muttered angrily, "Lin Kuang, you jerk, why aren’t you answering me? Did something happen to you? Or did you change your number? You better not let me see you, you jerk, or I’ll definitely teach you a lesson!"
Fan Bingbing had no idea this was the Family Head’s doing. She simply assumed Lin Kuang had changed his number or gotten into trouble.
Just as she was lost in thought, a knock suddenly sounded at the door.
Frowning, Fan Bingbing got up and opened it. She froze when she saw who was standing outside; she never expected to see him. It was none other than Fan Bin, the man who had once gone to the East Sea to kill Lin Kuang.
Fan Bin glanced at her, walked straight into the room, and closed the door behind him.
"Brother Bin, why are you here?" Fan Bingbing asked, curious.
"There’s something you need to know, Bingbing. All of your electronic devices are being monitored by the Family Head. The messages you’re sending aren’t getting through at all. The reason is that he doesn’t want you to be with Lin Kuang. The Lin Family’s power is not to be underestimated, and he’s worried that with Lin Kuang’s help, you could seize the position of Family Head.
"He doesn’t want you in that position, so he’s trying to sever your connection with Lin Kuang. He has even sent several groups of assassins after him, but he’s still alive. Take this phone. It can bypass any signal blocking. Remember, never let anyone see it. Keep it well hidden. That’s all I came to say. I’m in a hurry, so I have to go."
With that, Fan Bin handed the phone to Fan Bingbing, turned, and left.
He was in and out in less than a minute. He said what he needed to and left immediately, before Fan Bingbing could even fully process his words. By the time the reality of his warning sank in, Fan Bin was long gone.
Fan Bingbing’s face turned ashen. Her heart swelled with a mixture of furious disbelief and worry for Lin Kuang. So *that* was why he never received her messages.
Still, she found it hard to believe. How could the kind, just uncle who always smiled at her do something like this?
Is the position of Family Head really that alluring? Is he doing all this for his own selfish desires, just to ensure his son takes the seat?
She didn’t doubt that Fan Bin was telling the truth. They had grown up together and were very close; he had no reason to lie to her. Besides, the fact that her texts weren’t going through was undeniable.
Fine. If that’s how you’re going to be, then don’t blame me for what I do next. I *will* become the Family Head, no matter what! she vowed to herself, a furious glint flashing in her beautiful eyes.
With that resolve, she sat on the edge of her bed, took out the phone Fan Bin had given her, and sent a message to Lin Kuang.
At that very moment, Lin Kuang was relaxing on the living room sofa with Yang Ruotong snuggled in his arms. They were chatting and laughing together, while Yang Ruoxi was still sound asleep.
Just then, his phone chimed.
He pulled it out and was surprised to see it was a message from Fan Bingbing. He froze for a second before a look of pure joy spread across his face. It had been so long since he’d heard from her. He quickly replied, asking why she hadn’t been in touch, what she was doing now, and whether she had missed him.
Holding the new phone, Fan Bingbing saw Lin Kuang’s reply pop up. A flicker of joy appeared in her beautiful eyes, but it was quickly overshadowed by rage.
This was undeniable proof. Fan Bin had been telling the truth. The Family Head, Fan Wudao, really had been monitoring all of her devices!
Uncle, I won’t let you get away with this, she thought, anger flashing in her eyes. I will be with Lin Kuang, and I *will* become the Family Head!
