Chapter 449 News Comes
Left with no other choice, Lin Kuang could only prepare a meal and bring it over for Lin Guo’er.
Witnessing this scene and recalling how Lin Kuang hadn’t come to her office all morning, Liu Shilin began to put two and two together. With a flushed face, she shot Lin Kuang a sharp glare, which made him incredibly embarrassed. But who did I have to blame but myself? You reap what you sow!
After the meal, Lin Guo’er regained some of her strength. Having goofed around all morning, it was time for her to get back to work; her days were always hectic. Seeing that Lin Guo’er was busy, Lin Kuang didn’t disturb her. He dutifully cleaned up the dishes before returning to Liu Shilin’s office.
When she saw Lin Kuang come in, Liu Shilin glared at him. "Next time, don’t go on for so long," she warned, her face blushing.
Hearing this, Lin Kuang nodded awkwardly. "I guess I got a little carried away," he admitted. "COUGH, COUGH. I completely forgot about work."
At his words, Liu Shilin’s pretty face flushed again. She shot him another sharp glare before finally turning to her work. Seeing this, Lin Kuang didn’t dare disturb her any further and sat obediently on the couch.
He took out his phone and started chatting with the Witch. As they were chatting, Lin Kuang suddenly remembered Fan Bingbing. It had been a while since she had contacted him. Even if he wanted to reach out, he couldn’t; she used a different number every time they talked. All Lin Kuang could do was stare blankly, completely helpless. After chatting with the Witch for a bit, he also had a quick conversation with Huo Feifei.
Just as Lin Kuang finished and put his phone back in his pocket, it began to ring, a sharp ringtone cutting through the quiet office. He paused for a moment before picking it up. The caller was none other than Yang Wucheng.
Seeing the name, Lin Kuang hurriedly answered. "Hello, Uncle Yang," he said with a smile.
"Lin Kuang, things aren’t looking good," Yang Wucheng said in a grave tone. "The Chen Family has found out that you’re the one who killed Chen Zhongrui. Now, his fourth younger brother, Chen Zhongyu, is coming for revenge. He’ll probably arrive in East Sea today."
Just a short while ago, Chen Zhongmian had told Yang Wucheng about this, as he strongly disapproved of his family’s plan. Furthermore, he and Yang Wucheng were good friends in private. Worried that his old friend might be in danger, he had passed on the information. As soon as Yang Wucheng found out, he immediately called Lin Kuang. That was the long and short of it.
Hearing Yang Wucheng’s words, Lin Kuang was stunned. He hadn’t expected the Chen Family to move so quickly; it was certainly a surprise.
"Okay, Uncle Yang, I understand. Don’t worry, I’ll handle it," Lin Kuang said with a laugh.
"Lin Kuang, don’t take this lightly," Yang Wucheng said earnestly. "Among his brothers, Chen Zhongrui was the weakest. He managed all of the Chen Family’s external affairs, which left him little time to train, so his strength was naturally lacking. But Chen Zhongyu is different. He’s been in Chenjiagou his whole life, practicing nothing but Tai Chi Chuan. His skills are formidable. You have to be extremely careful."
Hearing this, Lin Kuang nodded with a smile. "I understand, Uncle Yang. I won’t be careless."
"Alright. I’ll send the Seal Special Team over tonight. They should be able to help you out a bit," Yang Wucheng added.
"There’s no need, Uncle Yang. I can handle it myself," Lin Kuang insisted. "Wait for my news. If I can’t handle it, I’ll have someone call you for help. Don’t worry, I’ll be fine."
"Really? Lin Kuang, you can’t afford to be arrogant," Yang Wucheng couldn’t help but stress.
"Really. Don’t worry, Uncle Yang. I have my own way of dealing with this. I’ll be fine," Lin Kuang said with certainty.
"Alright then. Be careful. I’ll wait to hear from you," Yang Wucheng said one last time.
"Okay," Lin Kuang nodded. "I’ll notify you after it’s all resolved."
After Lin Kuang’s confirmation, Yang Wucheng agreed, and the two finally hung up.
When Lin Kuang hung up, Liu Shilin immediately walked over and sat beside him, her lovely eyes filled with worry. "Is something wrong?" she asked with concern.
"Hmm? It’s nothing serious, just a small issue. Don’t worry," Lin Kuang said, pulling her into his arms with a smile.
"Is it really just a small issue?" Liu Shilin asked, unconvinced.
"Really. Would I lie to you? It’s a very simple matter. It’s fine," Lin Kuang reassured her.
Hearing his firm words, Liu Shilin finally nodded and snuggled into his embrace. This guy is always so worrying, but I can’t help but love this scoundrel.
Holding Liu Shilin, Lin Kuang glanced at the time. Figuring there was still plenty of it, his restless hands inevitably began to wander over her body. Feeling his touch, Liu Shilin’s pretty face blushed. She knew exactly what he was up to.
"You jerk... you have business to take care of tonight, and you’re still thinking about this," she said, her voice husky and her eyes full of allure. Clearly, she was aroused as well.
"Heh heh, of course," Lin Kuang said with a grin, pulling Liu Shilin onto his lap. "Haven’t you heard the saying? ’To die in the arms of a beauty is a fate even a ghost would welcome.’"
At his words, Liu Shilin gave him a sharp glare and said coquettishly, "You’re not allowed to die!"
"As you wish, honey," Lin Kuang replied with a smirk before launching his playful assault. Poor Liu Shilin could only put up a token resistance, with no chance to counterattack.
When it was time to leave work, the two finally disentangled themselves from the couch.
"Let’s go, honey," Lin Kuang said with a grin, taking her hand.
Liu Shilin glared at him. The flush on her pretty face still hadn’t faded, and coupled with her charming, sultry eyes, she looked incredibly enchanting.
"COUGH, COUGH. Honey, when you look at me like that, I can barely control myself," Lin Kuang said impulsively.
In response, Liu Shilin playfully stuck her tongue out at him. "Then you’ll just have to endure it! It’s your own fault for being so naughty!"
With that, as if afraid of what he might do next, she hurried out of the office.
Watching her retreating figure, Lin Kuang chuckled. Heh, you little minx. You can run, but you can’t hide. Just wait and see how I’ll deal with you tonight! Grinning to himself, he closed the office door and went after her.
After driving home, the three of them went inside. This time, Lin Kuang didn’t leave. He was waiting for Chen Zhongyu. Since his opponent was coming to him, it was only proper for Lin Kuang, as the host, to extend a welcome.
Lin Guo’er also knew what was about to happen, and her expression was solemn. Ever since I got together with Lin Kuang, these scary situations just keep happening more and more often.
