Chapter 446: Head of the Chen Family
After breakfast, Xu Yingying and Yao Wenwen said their goodbyes. Before they departed, Xu Yingying and Lin Kuang exchanged phone numbers, and then the two women drove away.
"Yingying, don’t you find that guy really annoying?" Yao Wenwen couldn’t help but ask from the passenger seat. "Besides, he has two wives, and his eyes are always sizing you up. Do you think he might be interested in you too?"
Hearing this, Xu Yingying’s pretty face turned red and she rolled her eyes at her friend. "I’m not interested in that little guy at all. Besides, what business is it of yours if he has two wives? Are you jealous? If anything, I noticed Lin Kuang’s eyes were always on you. I think that boy is interested in you."
Yao Wenwen’s cheeks flushed with embarrassment. "N-no way! I’m not! Don’t be ridiculous," she retorted quickly.
Seeing this, Xu Yingying paused, slightly startled. "Wenwen, don’t tell me you’re actually interested in Lin Kuang? You’re not acting like yourself."
Xu Yingying couldn’t help but press. Normally, her best friend wouldn’t have cared, but now she was blushing furiously. Something was clearly off.
Feeling Xu Yingying’s beautiful eyes fixed on her, Yao Wenwen grew flustered.
"It’s not like that! Gosh, I’m just a little curious about the guy, that’s all. I don’t mean anything else by it," Yao Wenwen said hastily.
At this, Xu Yingying rubbed her forehead with a sense of helplessness. "Don’t you know the saying ’curiosity killed the cat’? And don’t you realize that when a woman gets curious about a man, it’s usually the first sign of her interest?"
"Uh... no, that can’t be true, can it?" Yao Wenwen said, though inwardly she was unconvinced. It’s just curiosity. How could I possibly like that jerk?
Watching her best friend’s expression, Xu Yingying felt a wave of exasperation. This girl is probably on the verge of falling for him too!
Meanwhile, Lin Kuang was clearing the table, a task that had become part of his daily routine.
After Lin Kuang had tidied up and washed the dishes, Liu Shilin and Lin Guo’er came downstairs. One dressed in black and the other in white, both wore professional attire, their mature, sexy appearances utterly captivating. Lin Guo’er embodied passion while Liu Shilin represented elegance. Their styles were different, but in terms of sheer attractiveness, they were perfectly matched.
"Well now, ladies. Seeing you two looking so sexy is stirring up some uncontrollable feelings in me," Lin Kuang said with a brazen stare as they descended the stairs.
In response, Liu Shilin’s pretty face turned slightly red, but Lin Guo’er shot him a look that dared him to make a move.
Seeing this, Lin Kuang swallowed hard. "I’ll go start the car!"
With that, he turned and fled, genuinely worried he wouldn’t be able to restrain himself.
Watching Lin Kuang’s comical escape, Liu Shilin and Lin Guo’er giggled.
He drove them to the company. After taking the elevator to their floor, Lin Kuang didn’t go back to the office with Liu Shilin, instead following Lin Guo’er directly into hers.
"What do you want?" Lin Guo’er asked, giving Lin Kuang a challenging look.
"Hmph. What do I want? You’re about to find out," Lin Kuang said, pulling Lin Guo’er into his arms as his hands began to wander.
"You bastard, how did you know my period was over?" Lin Guo’er asked irritably.
"Because the pads in the bathroom haven’t been touched, which means you haven’t used any. Obviously, it’s over," Lin Kuang said with a smile, lifting Lin Guo’er onto his lap.
Hearing this, Lin Guo’er gave him a coquettish glare. "You bastard."
"Heh heh, then let me show you what this bastard can do," Lin Kuang said with a grin.
The next moment, something indescribable happened between the two in the office. Fortunately, the room was very well soundproofed; otherwise, the entire company might have heard them.
Meanwhile, far away in the Chen Family’s ancestral hall in Chenjiagou of W County, the clan’s high-ranking members were all gathered. On the floor lay two bodies, both covered with white cloths. They were, without a doubt, Chen Zhongrui, the Third Elder of the Chen Family, and his son, Chen Shaowen. Standing beside the two bodies were two Taoists—the disciples of Liu Daotong.
"Everyone, the bodies have been found. Let’s hear what happened," Chen Zhongxiang, the second eldest of the Chen family, said. His tone was calm, betraying no emotion, like an indifferent machine.
Those present nodded in agreement.
Chen Zhongxiang’s gaze fell upon the two Taoists. "Speak," he commanded coolly. "Tell us everything you know. Do not omit any details or tell any falsehoods."
The two Taoists quickly nodded. The braver of the two stepped forward and began to speak.
"Greetings, respected elders of the Chen Family. This is what happened. A few days ago, my master, Liu Daotong, received a letter from the Third Elder. It asked my master to bring a woman named Yang Ruoxi to our Taoist temple. My master and the Third Elder were good friends, so he naturally did as he was asked.
"After we brought the girl named Yang Ruoxi over, the Third Elder and Chen Shaowen arrived. At first, we didn’t know why she had been brought there, but we later learned that Chen Shaowen wanted to use Yang Ruoxi’s body for his cultivation. We heard she possesses the Extreme Yin Body.
"Of course, these matters weren’t our place to question. We just did as our master commanded. However, Yang Ruoxi overheard the conversation between my master and the Third Elder and managed to escape. My master and the Young Master then caught her and brought her back. If nothing else had happened, that would have been the end of it.
"However, that afternoon, before nightfall, Lin Kuang suddenly stormed in. He killed Chen Shaowen, my master, and the Third Elder. The few of us who are left only survived by sheer luck. That is everything I know about what happened."
With that, the Taoist stepped back, indicating he was finished.
Hearing his account, the expressions on the faces of those present turned grim. None of them could have imagined that the ever-composed Chen Zhongrui would be involved in such a thing. It was a true case of being unable to judge a book by its cover.
With this thought, many turned their gaze toward Chen Zhongxiang.
Chen Zhongxiang’s brow furrowed slightly. He believed the two Taoists wouldn’t dare lie to him, yet he was still taken aback by the turn of events. His gaze involuntarily shifted to the middle-aged man sitting in the seat of honor—he was the Chen Family Head.
