Chapter 293: Fountain of Eden [ 2 ]
A few hours had passed since I left Hanazora, and although I wasn’t expecting much, Adam had told me that the Fountain of Eden was located in the sky.
It moved around constantly, which was why it was so hard for anyone to pinpoint its location. But as it so happens, Adam was someone who was interested in the Fountain of Eden, so he knew how to track it.
And according to him, the Fountain of Eden should roughly be 5,000 meters above a certain point in the ocean, exactly where I was currently standing.
Though, no matter where I looked, it wasn’t here. Was Adam mistaken about its location?
I had my doubts, sure. Yet all those doubts vanished the moment my Mystic Eyes picked up on some kind of structure heading straight toward me.
It was... some kind of tree? I wasn’t able to tell from this far away, and only when it got closer did I realize that it was really just a floating oak tree that was flying extremely fast. Before it could fly past me, though, I placed my hand on the tree and flew alongside it.
But what now? Was this really some kind of entrance?
I inspected the tree and found that its leaves emanated some kind of weird energy that I had never felt before. A leaf fell, and that energy quickly dissipated. Though, from what little I observed, I felt like this was the way to enter the Fountain of Eden.
So I reached for the leaves and touched one. My senses faded, and before I knew it, I found myself drifting aimlessly in a pitch-black void.
I thought something had gone awry, but thankfully, the void began to take shape as buildings and other structures appeared. As for me, I felt a push against my body, followed by darkness once more.
Except this darkness was different. It was the darkness of a room, rather than the void.
As for which room it was?
CRACK!
I shattered the ceiling and even crumbled the walls. Stone bricks fell on me, but were automatically teleported aside with the help of my Control Field.
And once everything was clear, I was met with a surprising sight.
There was a starry cosmos above me that seemed incredibly close, to the point where I felt like I could touch the galaxies if I were to fly a bit higher. It was almost as unreal as the tens of castles and moving statues I saw all around me.
Moving statues...?
I narrowed my eyes and felt a heartbeat from those statues. To my surprise, these were no statues at all. They were Giants, and from the looks of it, none of them had noticed my presence just yet.
Though, they most definitely heard the crumbling of whatever structure I had destroyed, as before I knew it, the eyes of at least ten Giants were glued directly to my position.
They noticed me as well, but for some reason, because I wasn’t moving, they didn’t think much of me. If anything, they likely thought I was some kind of statue.
Because of that, I had a lot more leeway, as I could just stand there and wait for them to stop looking so I could start moving again.
Well...
That was what I thought.
Except when I saw the foot of a Giant descending right toward me, I knew that I had no choice but to make my move.
And the way I did that was by simply turning myself into Black Lightning and reappearing atop the head of one of the Giants. The Giant didn’t seem to realize that I was there, as, after all, I had hidden inside its hair.
But now that I was so close to the Giant, I managed to hear some sort of sound. At first, it sounded like mumbling, but when I focused a little closer, that mumbling had turned into some kind of language.
Their words contained hate and meaning. I couldn’t understand it at first, until I suddenly felt a little bit of my Divine Energy leak out, causing every single Giant present to abruptly halt.
"What just happened?"
"That energy was very similar to our masters... Did they descend?"
"Should we go down and check it out?"
"Obviously not. Let the humans and demons kill each other first."
I could understand them now?
"Haha, true. The demons are on the verge of wiping out all of humanity, so we only need to wait a decade or two. I’ll go back to sleep until then. Why don’t you tell the Titans this lovely news?"
"What’s to say the Titans hadn’t already felt the energy as well?"
Right.
While I couldn’t understand what was going on, the headache I was feeling, coupled with my sudden understanding of their language, definitely had something to do with me being a Divine Beast.
Not to mention, because of my origins, these Giants would probably be considered my creations. Or at least, since they were referring to the Divine Beasts as masters, they were definitely inferior.
Hmm...
I could use this to my advantage.
Maybe I could even make one of the Titans kill themselves so I could take their heart.
After all, since these Giants were only Grade 60, with some being Grade 70 at most, I had my doubts that the Titans would be that much stronger.
Hehe.
That’s perfect.
Still, I decided to not reveal my cover just yet. Instead, I watched as the Giants talked and roamed around aimlessly, checking in on the destroyed structure, and then eventually walking away.
The Giant whose head I was on began walking into the distance, where there was a large city filled to the brim with buildings that, while to Giants might not seem that large, were way too large for any regular human to live in.
It’d be fun to bring Clementine here.
Hmm...
Should I really become the king of these Giants and Titans and live here with Clementine?
