Chapter 482: Sandstorm!
The sandstorm left devastation in its wake, a complete mess wherever it passed. Countless grains of sand flew wildly, and the ferocious storm made it impossible for anyone to keep their eyes open.
Within the storm swirled countless bats—a dense, horrifying swarm that bewildered the eye. At its very center was an enormous Bloodthirsty Bat. Its blood-red eyes were fixed on Long Chen and the others. These bats were completely unaffected by the sandstorm; in fact, it seemed as if they were the cause of it.
"Not good!" Long Chen’s brow furrowed the moment he saw the Bloodthirsty Bat. "It looks like those bats are heading straight for us. Get out of the way, quickly!"
Hearing his warning, Long Xin and the others sprang into action, retreating with him.
Seeing Long Chen and the others retreat, the Bloodthirsty Bat shrieked toward the sky. As if receiving a command, the countless bats surrounding it immediately gave chase. As the bats mobilized, the raging sandstorm surged toward Long Chen’s group with incredible speed.
The storm moved so fast that before Long Chen and his group could get far, it and the swarm of bats were already upon them. In the blink of an eye, the powerful gales swept toward them. The fierce gusts felt as if they would tear the very flesh from their bones, and a sharp pain washed over them.
This must have been the fate of the corpses they saw earlier, killed and buried by this very sandstorm.
Long Chen and the others tried to break free, but the sandstorm exerted a powerful suction force that slowed their retreat to a crawl. Before they could escape, the storm struck again, swallowing them whole. Fortunately, they managed to combine their powers just in time to erect a Defensive Barrier, avoiding the risk of being torn apart.
"Damn it!" Tang Le complained while fending off the pressure. "I never expected this thing to be so powerful. I completely underestimated this sandstorm."
Chu Lingjun’s face was grave. "We have to leave, and soon," she said grimly. "Otherwise, we’ll be worn down and killed."
Lei Shishi nodded. "Let’s try to push our way out."
At her words, everyone circulated their Battle qi, resisting the sandstorm’s Lethal Power as they slowly tried to press their way out.
The Bloodthirsty Bat noticed their defense and suddenly signaled for the swarm to attack. The swarm of bats descended with shrill screams, diving at Long Chen’s group in unison. The space plunged into pitch darkness, so profound you couldn’t see your hand in front of your face.
Seeing this, Long Chen’s expression turned grave as he shouted, "Strengthen the defense!"
Everyone focused their Battle qi, pouring it into the Defensive Barrier.
BANG! BANG! BANG!
As the bats slammed into the barrier, a series of dull thuds rang out. Wave after wave of immense force hammered against their defense. A flicker of surprise passed through Long Chen’s group. They hadn’t expected such small creatures to unleash such tremendous power. More importantly, their numbers were simply overwhelming.
They covered the Defensive Barrier in a dense, airtight layer. This overwhelming force bore down on them, making them feel as if Mount Tai itself was pressing down, an unbearable, suffocating weight. Facing this crushing force, Long Chen and the others didn’t dare relax for a second, gritting their teeth to hold on.
But the number of bats didn’t decrease; instead, they grew more numerous. A suffocating darkness swallowed everything. The only light came from sinister red eyes glinting in the blackness. This, coupled with their piercing shrieks, created an exceptionally terrifying scene.
Tang Le frowned. "We have to find a way to break this stalemate. Otherwise, all five of us are going to die here."
A grave expression crossed Long Chen’s face. Their situation was indeed perilous.
Just then, Lei Shishi said, "I’m going to set up a Formation. I’ll need you to lend me your power to control it. It might be our chance to escape."
"Okay," Long Chen nodded. "Just tell us what to do. We’ll cooperate fully."
The others also nodded in agreement, their eyes fixed on Lei Shishi.
She opened her palm, and a box shimmering with silver-white light appeared in her hand. Upon closer inspection, the silvery glow came from a fearsome Power of Thunder wrapped around it.
"You need to make an opening for me to send this Treasure box out," Lei Shishi said to Long Chen.
"Alright," Long Chen nodded, then glanced at Chu Lingjun.
A single look was all it took for Chu Lingjun to understand. She looked ahead and, bringing two fingers together, tore an opening in the Defensive Barrier. The moment the opening appeared, the bats swarmed it, trying to squeeze through.
Fortunately, Long Chen was prepared. A burst of Power of Thunder erupted from his fingertips, sealing the gap. Immediately, the Power of Thunder spread outward, striking the nearest bats and neutralizing them momentarily. However, compared to the whole swarm, the injured bats were merely a drop in the ocean.
"Hurry, get it out!" Long Chen shouted to Lei Shishi.
Lei Shishi immediately sent the Thunder Treasure Box in her palm through the gap. After it was successfully sent through, Chu Lingjun immediately sealed the opening again.
Once the Thunder Treasure Box was outside, the bats swarmed toward it, intending to engulf it. Seeing this, Lei Shishi’s hands rapidly began forming seals. Under her control, the box suddenly burst with a dazzling light.
A brilliant silver-white glow erupted. The horrific Power of Thunder poured out from the box!
SIZZLE!
The terrifying power surged into the swooping bats. Instantly, the pungent smell of scorched flesh filled the air.
Then, the Thunder Treasure Box suddenly expanded! Its surface radiated a powerful force that sent the charging bats flying. Seeing this, Lei Shishi continued to control the Thunder Treasure Box, bringing it over to envelop them. Before long, the Thunder Treasure Box had completely enclosed Long Chen and the others.
"With the Thunder Treasure Box protecting us, you can drop the defense," Lei Shishi told them. "Now, just transfer your Battle qi to me. I’ll control the box and get us out of here."
