Chapter 410: Officially Established!
Witnessing this scene, Long Chen felt rather flattered. He hadn’t expected so many people to support him in becoming the Gate Master.
Tang Le smiled and teased, "Gate Master, it looks like you can’t escape this responsibility."
Long Xin stifled a giggle behind her hand. "Brother, since it’s the will of the people, you should accept it."
"Besides, I believe that no one but you is capable of leading this new Dragon Gate to the heights it deserves."
Long Chen turned to glance at Long Xin. "You’re ganging up on me too, are you?"
Long Xin blinked, her lovely face wreathed in a smile.
"Gate Master!"
Seeing that Long Chen still seemed unwilling to accept, Qi Yuanchen and the others shouted in unison once more.
"Fine, fine. I’ll serve as the acting Gate Master for now," Long Chen said, shaking his head with a resigned smile.
Now that everyone supported him, it would be unreasonable to refuse any longer.
"Not acting!" Qi Yuanchen hastily interjected. "You’re the *real* Gate Master!"
The others chimed in, "That’s right! You are the Gate Master!"
Seeing how insistent they were, Long Chen gave a helpless smile, not knowing what else to say.
"Alright," Long Chen nodded. "However, I have many other things to do. In the future, I might not have enough time or energy to manage Dragon Gate."
At this, Long Chen turned to look at Long Xin, Tang Le, and Qi Yuanchen. "When that time comes, I’ll have to trouble you three to look after Dragon Gate."
Tang Le grumbled, "Hey! What kind of Gate Master are you? You just got the position and you’re already planning to be a hands-off manager?"
Before Long Chen could speak, Qi Yuanchen nodded readily. "No problem! As long as you agree to be the Gate Master, you can leave all the tedious chores to me. I believe that under your leadership, Dragon Gate will establish a firm foothold within the Jinglei Sect!"
"When that time comes, no one will dare to provoke us!"
"Then from this day forward, our Dragon Gate is officially established!"
Seeing everyone so enthusiastically endorsing Long Chen as Gate Master, Zhang Cangsong, who stood to the side, was practically seething with envy. His face was livid, his features twisted with resentment.
He was clearly the most outstanding and capable among the new disciples! So why did all the benefits fall to Long Chen in the end, while he got nothing?!
Despite his immense dissatisfaction, he could only suppress it for now, not daring to make any rash moves. He stared at Long Chen with a dark gaze. Boy, enjoy being pleased with yourself for a little while longer. It won’t be long before you all get what’s coming to you!
「Meanwhile.」
Zheng Kai led the members of the Medicine Pavilion away in a dispirited retreat. Hidden in a corner, Han Zongwei watched this unfold with a cold smirk on his lips. Crouching beside him was a burly man.
If Long Chen and his group had been there, they would have surely recognized this burly man as the one who had provoked them earlier. This was all a scheme by the Baiyue Sect! They had initially pretended to be from the Medicine Pavilion for the sole purpose of sowing discord.
Seeing Zheng Kai and his men in such a wretched state, the burly man’s face broke into a wide grin. "Brother Han, it looks like everything went according to plan. That fellow Zhang Cangsong turned out to be somewhat useful after all."
Han Zongwei snorted coldly. "If he were completely useless, he could forget about ever joining our Baiyue Sect."
"This plan was executed perfectly. Now that Long Chen’s group has moved against Zheng Kai, it’s bound to stir resentment within the Medicine Pavilion."
"The Medicine Pavilion will definitely not let this matter rest. They will certainly find an opportunity to regain their lost honor!"
"Next, we’ll have quite a show to watch."
As he spoke, Han Zongwei could no longer suppress his triumphant grin. He continued, "Let’s go. We need to pay a visit to the Medicine Pavilion and fan the flames."
「Medicine Pavilion.」
Wang Pingchuan sat in the main seat, fiddling with two Jade Balls in his hand. He had his eyes closed, resting his mind as he awaited news from Zheng Kai. Just then, a man entered to report, "Pavilion Master, Zheng Kai has returned."
Hearing this, Wang Pingchuan slowly opened his eyes. He asked in a deep voice, "Is the matter taken care of?"
"Well..." The man’s expression turned grave. He stammered, "He’s on his way here now. It would be best for him to report to you personally."
Wang Pingchuan lifted his head and looked forward. He saw Zheng Kai and his group rushing over, but the sight of their bruised, swollen, and utterly wretched faces made his brow furrow.
"Greetings, Pavilion Master!" Zheng Kai and the others bowed as they arrived.
Wang Pingchuan asked coldly, "How did you all end up like this?"
Zheng Kai and his men trembled, exchanging panicked glances. They could see the terror in each other’s eyes and didn’t know how to answer.
Seeing this, Wang Pingchuan grew even more displeased, his tone turning several degrees colder. His chilling gaze fixed on Zheng Kai. "Zheng Kai, have you all gone mute?!"
Zheng Kai shuddered. After a moment’s hesitation, he replied in a trembling voice, "Reporting to the Pavilion Master, we failed in our mission to recruit Long Chen. Please punish us!"
Wang Pingchuan’s face was clouded with displeasure. "What exactly happened?"
Zheng Kai had no choice but to recount everything that had occurred at Dragon Gate, omitting no detail.
"Pavilion Master, I originally intended to extend a friendly invitation for him to join our Medicine Pavilion, but their attitude was atrocious, and they attacked us almost immediately."
"We ended up in a fierce battle, but we never expected that fellow, Long Chen, to be so powerful. Even when we combined our strength, we were no match for him..."
As he listened to Zheng Kai’s report, Wang Pingchuan’s expression grew darker. He asked in a grave tone, "Were they really that arrogant?"
"Yes!" Zheng Kai nodded. "They were unbelievably arrogant and disrespectful."
"They showed no regard for our Medicine Pavilion whatsoever!"
"They even boasted that they would one day replace us."
"Insolent!"
In a rare display of fury, Wang Pingchuan slammed his palm down on the adjacent tea table.
BANG!
The tea table instantly shattered into pieces. Zheng Kai and the others jumped in fright, not daring to make another sound.
"A wet-behind-the-ears upstart dares to be so audacious?!" Intense anger filled Wang Pingchuan’s face.
He had kindly sent Zheng Kai to recruit Long Chen, never expecting the other party to be so ungrateful.
Just then, an indifferent voice came from outside. "Pavilion Master Wang, what has made you so furious?"
As the voice faded, Han Zongwei and his men walked in from outside.
"It’s you?" Wang Pingchuan glanced coldly at Han Zongwei’s group, somewhat surprised by their arrival.
A member of the Medicine Pavilion rushed in and said timidly to Wang Pingchuan, "Pavilion Master, they insisted on forcing their way in. I couldn’t stop them."
Zheng Kai and his men immediately fixed their gazes on Han Zongwei, swiftly surrounding them.
Han Zongwei smiled. "Pavilion Master Wang, we mean no harm. We’ve come to discuss an important matter with you."
Wang Pingchuan waved his hand, dismissing the Medicine Pavilion members. He then asked coolly, "What are you doing here?"
