Chapter 409: Setting up One’s Own Business!
A powerful force erupted from Zheng Kai, surging like a tidal wave straight toward Long Chen. In response, Long Chen simply took a step forward, and an invisible barrier instantly materialized to nullify the attack. Undeterred, Zheng Kai lunged, his entire being like a sharp sword aimed at Long Chen. Long Chen gathered his strength and unleashed a punch. As their fists collided, terrifying shockwaves erupted from the impact.
During the confrontation, Long Chen activated the Divine Demon Ancestral Dragon Formula, and his power instantly skyrocketed. A look of astonishment flashed across Zheng Kai’s face. He didn’t dare be careless and frantically channeled all his battle qi into his fist. But Long Chen simply pulsed his power forward, and an overwhelmingly powerful force shattered Zheng Kai’s attack.
PFFT!
The punch landed squarely on Zheng Kai. His face turned as pale as paper, and he spat out a mouthful of blood.
The other Medicine Pavilion members were stunned to see Zheng Kai injured, but they quickly snapped out of it, their gazes locking onto Long Chen.
"Get him!" Zheng Kai roared in fury.
The Medicine Pavilion members immediately charged, attacking Long Chen in unison. Facing their combined assault, Long Chen remained perfectly calm. He unleashed a flurry of punches, beating the group from the Medicine Pavilion black and blue. One by one, they collapsed to the ground, moaning in pain.
Beyond the agony, their faces were masks of pure disbelief. None of them had expected Long Chen’s strength to be so formidable. To think he could defeat their joint effort with such ease! Just how monstrously powerful was this guy?
Zheng Kai’s expression was utterly grim. What he had expected to be an easy victory had turned into his own humiliating defeat.
Seeing the situation was no longer in their favor, Zheng Kai didn’t hesitate. "Let’s go!" he yelled, scrambling to his feet to leave. Receiving his order, the other Medicine Pavilion members quickly followed, afraid that a single second’s delay would earn them another beating.
"Those guys sure run fast," Qi Yuanchen commented coldly as he watched them flee.
Tang Le and Long Xin walked over to Long Chen’s side.
Long Xin said indifferently, "Those blind fools dared to cause trouble for us. If we don’t teach them a lesson, they’ll really think we’re easy to bully."
Tang Le frowned. "We already had a feud with the Baiyue Sect, and now we’ve antagonized the Medicine Pavilion. I’m afraid we’ll have a lot of trouble ahead of us."
"What’s there to be afraid of?" Qi Yuanchen smiled. "We now have the Elixir Pills refined by Brother Long, and their purity is so high that even the Medicine Pavilion can’t achieve this. We can rely on this advantage to become completely self-sufficient, without needing to depend on other organizations."
"Brother Tang has a point," Long Chen said, "but it’s always better to be cautious."
"Understood." Qi Yuanchen nodded, then added, "I think we should establish our own organization. Only then will we have a chance to contend with those three major powers. Otherwise, with our current manpower and abilities, confronting them head-on will be quite difficult. But establishing our own faction is different. As long as we have the right incentives, we’ll naturally attract many people who want to join. When that time comes, our scale will grow, and we’ll have the leverage to stand against them."
"Establish our own faction?" Long Chen muttered. In truth, he had never really given the matter any thought.
Hearing the suggestion, Tang Le chimed in, "Brother Long, I think he has a point. Since we’re already clashing with them, we might as well form our own group. When our own power grows strong enough, others will have to negotiate with us instead of daring to bully us as they please."
Long Xin nodded in agreement. "Brother, I think he’s right. We can definitely do that."
Seeing their support, Long Chen nodded. "Alright. If you all support it, then let’s establish our own faction."
When Qi Yuanchen saw that Long Chen had agreed, his face lit up with a smile. "From now on, our organization will be called Dragon Gate, and you, Brother Long, will be the Gate Master!"
"..."
Long Chen was speechless. He turned to Qi Yuanchen and said, "You even came up with a name. I see you were planning this all along, weren’t you?"
Qi Yuanchen chuckled, his intentions laid bare. "With great ability comes great responsibility. This Gate Master position can only belong to you, Brother Long!" he said earnestly. Turning to the others, he asked, "What do all of you think?"
"We agree!" the others responded immediately, without a hint of hesitation.
Qi Yuanchen laughed heartily and looked at Long Chen. "See, Brother Long? This is what everyone wants! This position truly belongs to no one else but you!"
Long Chen just shook his head and smiled. He had never considered being a Gate Master or anything of the sort; he simply had no interest in it.
"Let’s not get carried away," he said, declining the offer. "I have no problem with establishing a faction, but the position of Gate Master should go to someone else. I can’t handle those kinds of administrative matters."
For Long Chen, the most important thing was to focus on his cultivation. He only wanted to improve his own strength.
"Don’t say that!" Qi Yuanchen protested hastily. "Brother Long, we all look up to you! You’re the one who led us out of our predicament. No one is more suitable for this position than you. If you don’t take the role of Gate Master, who else would dare to?"
"You do it," Long Chen said, turning to Tang Le. "Or you. In any case, the most capable person should take the job."
Tang Le immediately waved his hands. "Don’t drag me into this. You know how I am—I’ve always been lazy. I’m completely unsuitable for managing something like this."
Qi Yuanchen also chimed in, "I’m not suitable either. My abilities don’t command enough respect. So, you have to be the Gate Master."
At this point, Qi Yuanchen shot a meaningful glance at the people behind him. "Well? Back me up here!"
The group instantly understood and began to echo his sentiment.
"That’s right! You have to be the Gate Master!"
"No one else is qualified!"
"We only recognize you!"
"..."
Zhang Cangsong’s brows furrowed. This was the position of Gate Master, and he naturally wanted to vie for it. "If he doesn’t want to be the Gate Master, let’s not force him," he interjected smoothly. "I, for one, would be more than happy to manage our newly established Dragon Gate! As long as you are willing to support and trust me, I will surely give you all a result you’ll be very satisfied with."
Zhang Cangsong was extremely confident, believing himself to be the undeniable choice for the position.
Everyone glanced at him for a moment before their gazes returned to Long Chen, saying nothing. It was as if Zhang Cangsong was completely invisible. Not a single person wanted to engage with him.
Zhang Cangsong’s mouth twitched, and he felt a keen sting of embarrassment.
Qi Yuanchen seized the opportunity. "See? Everyone has chosen you. You can’t refuse now."
With that, he didn’t wait any longer. He bowed deeply to Long Chen and respectfully called out, "Gate Master!"
The others immediately followed his lead, bowing and shouting in unison, "Gate Master!"
Their voices were extraordinarily loud and clear.
