(BL) Taming the Field Guide

Chapter 156: Waiting like a good Guide

Did Kellen feel that what they were doing was bad? No. Did Kellen feel like it was a long time coming? Absolutely.

Plus, it wasn’t like he was letting anyone down by not doing his work first. He made sure that got done. He’d discussed the list, got Casper up to a room, made sure Gunther wasn’t falling apart, and then checked in with Hill and his Mom to make sure that Rhys had no other obligations for the day. He had then waited patiently once he found out that Rhys did have a meeting with Sergei and Lieutenant Fisher that he had to attend.

Kellen was being very good. Very calm. An Esper would never.

Mm, an Esper would, Rhys would, Kellen was just feeling antsy. He had been given the green light by Taylor and Kellen was feeling...he was feeling like his skin was itching to be touched by Rhys. He wanted to touch Rhys.

He wanted to slide their skin against each other, not have to worry about where and when their sweaty bodies glide against each other. He wanted to lick and bite and taste the other man. Was it appropriate for him to have these thoughts at work?

There were so many others having these thoughts that there was no way he was going to feel guilty, he was just focused on his partner. His man. His Rhys.

Who deserved a punishment for all that he had done, and Kellen would be the first one to admit that he wanted to punish him in the bedroom. Maybe he could do what Rhys had always teased him about? Making him cum endlessly, forcing him to do so. Would it be a punishment? Maybe, but it was also something that Kellen wanted to see.

Was it a crime that Kellen couldn’t feel the man cum inside of him? It could be considered as such, but his body needed time to heal and he did not want to make this a Taylor issue. The girl already had enough on her plate, and tomorrow Kellen’s work would continue.

He would have to finish the interviews, and begin contacting people to start planning their flights, their stay, and everything that was incorporated with that, plus he was going to have to face Jules and Jax again.

Kellen would not be known as just an asshole by people who were...remotely related to Rhys.

That would only happen after Kellen had gotten his hand on his man and left enough marks that everyone knew that he was off the damn market. Kellen’s head was already spinning with how much he was going to have to make it obvious that Rhys wasn’t single and that he belonged to Kellen.

Kellen would have to speak to Taylor, Hill, and his parents on that issue. They would know how to help. He wasn’t going to ask Rhys. For some reason, there was something inside of him that told him not to. That he should keep that a surprise. Kellen did wonder if it was a bad idea, but the feeling was similar to the gut feelings he would get as warnings.

He decided to trust it. This once, at least.

So, Kellen was sitting in the hallway outside of the conference room, his mind elsewhere, his hand on his knee, his body straight and rigid. Some could have mistaken him for a Guide-shaped statue if not for the fact that his eyes were glowing a bright blue, ominous, dangerous. Kellen had no idea he was intimidating anyone who came by.

He was just existing, trying not to drool as he thought about all the things he was going to do to Rhys.

That was when Kellen had the horrifying revelation that they might not have any condoms at the apartment, or if they did, they didn’t have enough. Kellen couldn’t recall how many he had, and he was panicking thinking about how he would get any, or get more.

Kellen pulled out his phone, and as much as he didn’t want to get Taylor involved, he had to message her first. It took him a second to struggle to type the text, but eventually he sent one off.

Taylor, I know that this is a bit unprofessional, but do you have any condoms that would fit Rhys at the Medical Bay? I’m unsure how to go about this since I normally shop online but I don’t have that kind of time right now.

It took her five, anxiety-inducing minutes to respond. Kellen realised it took her so long because she was too busy laughing at him.

You are so never living this down. It was only a few weeks ago you never even cared about sex. I’m immortalising this text. Where are you? I’ll bring you a few packages. ;P

Kellen wasn’t sure if he liked the little face she had included on the end of the text, but he did tell her where he was. He continued to wait, now waiting for two different reasons.

Rhys ended his meeting first, Lieutenant Fisher leaving the room first. He seemed a bit surprised to see Kellen waiting outside of the conference room, but his hard expression softened slightly after a moment. He paused in front of Kellen, moving his chair so that it wasn’t blocking the rest of the door or hall. Kellen shifted his chair so that he could park next to him.

"How are you doing, Kellen?" He asked, his eyes scanning Kellen’s face and body, as if he was a Healing Esper. Kellen let out a soft chuckle.

"I’m doing much better." He told him and Lieutenant Fisher nodded, looking pleased.

"I’m glad. Captain Thatcher told me about the procedure in person, and while I am a little upset that I wasn’t told ahead of time, I understand why. I am glad it is working, and that it is working for the others as well." He genuinely meant his words, and that was something Kellen liked about the Lieutenant. He was serious, like Kellen, but he had a heart. One that was easier to see than Kellen’s. Kellen nodded in agreement to his words.

"I agree. I apologise that we couldn’t tell you ahead of time. Until things are sorted within the D.E.C., we have to be cautious." Kellen told him, then hesitated. "Did Rhys tell you...about the other issue involving me?" Kellen asked and Lieutenant Fisher stared at Kellen blankly. Kellen turned to glare at the open doorway, Rhys and Sergei having remained behind for a moment before he turned his head back to Lieutenant Fisher. The man looked like he was fighting a smile.

"I take it that he was supposed to?" Lieutenant Fisher asked and Kellen shook his head, sighing.

"Well, that is arguable. You are technically the government, so it’s a little...iffy." Kellen told him, then sighed. "Pardon me." Kellen muttered before he leaned in until he was whispering against the Lieutenant’s ear. "We think I’ve jumped Classes again." He whispered.

When he pulled back, Lieutenant Fisher looked shocked. His grip on the arms of his wheelchair were so tight that Kellen worried he might break it, but thankfully, it was made of strong enough material for the A Class that he was unable to do so. Lieutenant Fisher’s chest rose and fell for a second, before he composed himself, swallowing.

"Oh dear." He muttered. "I can understand why he didn’t say anything to me then." He muttered and Kellen gave a heavy sigh.

"However, he shouldn’t. Especially since he kept the changes from me as well." Kellen said grimly. Lieutenant Fisher glanced at him, confused slightly, before Kellen raised the arm in a sling and pointed to his eyepatch. "I thought they were symptoms of the poisoning." He clarified and Lieutenant Fisher’s jaw hardened slightly.

"Should I congratulate you?" Lieutenant Fisher asked and Kellen stared at him.

So far, no one had congratulated him for jumping Classes again. Not a single person. Instead, they had all treated it like it was something that was going to ruin him. Like it was a fatal diagnosis with no clear method to help him. Kellen swallowed, his spine straightening.

"Yeah, you can." Kellen told him slowly, the words feeling good in his mouth. Lieutenant Fisher smiled.

"Congratulations, Guide Woods. On not just doing something thought impossible once, but twice. Should I make a note of it officially yet?" He asked, and Kellen liked how the man understood it. He got how dangerous it was. After all, he was helping hide that Charlie existed.

"For now. Maybe announce it once I’ve gone overseas with Rhys to save a member of our Guild." Lieutenant Fisher seemed shocked to hear that, so Kellen took the time while he was waiting for Rhys and Taylor to fill him in.

It was clear he had heard parts of it, but not the full context. Lieutenant Fisher was just as angry as everyone else when the pieces were all put together, his eyes slipping into the dark, consuming colour of his powers as his emotions raged. Kellen was glad that the man that they had, that they were, going to put into power was this kind of man.

Dedicated, serious, just as attached to the city as the rest of the S Class Espers, but also didn’t contribute to the S Class energy that had taken over the space with Uncle Tom.

"Are you doing okay?" Kellen asked after they had finished their discussion with neither member of his Guild showing up. Lieutenant Fisher raised a hand, pushing his hair back for a moment, his gaze distant for a second before he turned to Kellen, giving him a megawatt smile.

"I have to be." He answered, which Kellen understood deeply. Kellen found himself nodding to his answer.

"Understood, Lieutenant." Kellen replied. "When is the promotion ceremony?" Kellen asked. He would be sad if he missed it, but he could send flowers or something. "Do you like tea or sweets?" Kellen asked as a follow up and Lieutenant Fisher laughed.

"I do like tea. My grandmother used to grow her own flowers for tea blends. The ceremony is going to be a quiet affair. No one should be celebrating until we have the funeral. So, it’ll be next week, just a quiet thing, and then once the funeral is held, it will be announced a month later." He said. Kellen nodded, pulling out his phone and his calendar.

"Put the date of the actual ceremony into my phone." Kellen told him, not backing down as the elevator dinged and the doors opened. Taylor appeared, with Kellen’s Dad at her side. Kellen felt his body harden.

He wondered why both of them were coming when Kellen’s Mom was not in the meeting with Sergei and Rhys, and there were no other meetings on this level right now? He didn’t smell anything good.

"Guide Woods, it’s really-"

"Do it, Lieutenant Fisher. You deserve recognition for doing a good job when Tom ran away. Don’t argue with me." Kellen warned, his eyes flashing dangerously and the Lieutenant blinked, before a wide smile crossed his lips. He was shaking his head as he took the phone from the Guide, doing as he was told.

Lieutenant Fisher had a feeling he was going to get along very well with this Kellen, but he also felt that he was going to be bulldozed by him as well.

Who could resist this kind of care easily?
