The Villain Reborn as Game's Final Boss

Chapter 192: Kevin Isn’t wrong [2]

Seeing that everyone’s attention was on him, Noah closed his eyes for a moment, sorting the words he wanted to say.

"I may not know the specific details of what had happened in the past, but from the news and rumours circulating everywhere... I have a decent idea about the only failure among the Frost."

Noah opened his eyes to look at Alicia, who just stared back at him in silence.

"He may be related to you by blood, but that doesn’t mean you have to keep worrying about him."

"I am not—"

"You are. It’s visible across your entire face. Even though your sister was humiliated before everyone, you were worried about the repercussions that might follow. You were worried about Kael."

Interrupting Alicia, Noah made his thoughts clear.

"Yes, listen to him! He may not have known us for long, but to me he feels more like a brother than that bastard—"

Swoosh!

"Diana!"

Clank!

Diana’s sword, which was aimed at Kevin’s neck, was stopped mid-motion by a long broadsword.

"What do you think you are doing, miss?"

Noah spoke in a low voice, though the surprise in it was visible for everyone to notice.

"What are you doing?!"

Alicia grabbed Diana by her arm before pulling her behind.

"I had warned him not to call Kael a bastard, but maybe... death is the only lesson for him to learn."

Diana uttered those words in a voice that felt strange for everyone in the room.

Neither did it have the regular softness nor the grace of royalty that Diana always spoke with.

Her current voice felt like it was a puppet speaking, not a human.

It was indifferent, monotonous, and... cold.

"Calm down, Kevin is just—"

Alicia paused midway as her eyes met Diana’s, which had no life in them.

It was like a completely different person stood before her, and not the Diana that she had always known.

"This bitch!"

Shouting in a loud voice, Kevin pulled out his own sword.

Though he tried to portray a strong look, on the inside Kevin was sweating bullets.

Even if Diana was at the same rank as him, he wasn’t able to follow her path of attack.

The strike was too sudden and unnatural for him, that only his instincts warned him, but his body was unable to follow, nor was his brain.

If not for Noah... Kevin didn’t want to think of such an outcome, as he still found it hard to believe that Diana was going to behead him.

What madness was this?

As Kevin tried to step towards Diana, he was stopped by Noah, who held his shoulder firmly.

No words were spoken between the two, but the power behind the grip on his shoulder made Kevin obey Noah without an ounce of hesitation.

"Diana... You are scaring me."

Alicia’s voice began to waver as she stared at her childhood friend.

"I warned him."

Disregarding Alicia’s statement, Diana muttered the words in the same monotonous tone that felt disturbing for everyone—including Noah, who had a slight frown on his face.

Noah couldn’t understand the reason behind such an excessive reaction from Diana, who he felt was always the most calm and level-headed person in the room.

The scene before him, and those lifeless eyes of Diana, made Noah suspect Kael’s involvement.

Noah always found it weird for an individual who was considered a failure to have increased his power to such an extent in mere three years after he had left his family.

Though Noah had his suspicions, he didn’t mention them, as he wasn’t foolish enough to say something like that before Alicia in particular.

He didn’t want Alicia to hate him in any way.

And Noah knew that despite everything that might have happened between them in the past, Alicia still cared for Kael.

He always had his assumptions, but it became clear to him the moment he had seen Alicia’s reaction when Kael and Victoria had begun to fight.

Alicia... The girl’s reaction was like the world was about to end.

She wanted Victoria to be safe, which was clear from the way she had first tried to interrupt their fight, but soon after the fight began, Alicia’s eyes... they held concern for both the parties, and maybe... more so for Kael.

Noah’s eyes darkened slightly as he thought about Kael.

Even without doing a single thing in his life, Kael had been blessed with everything that Noah had never received.

A loving family, friends, wealth that was almost infinite, and with that came extreme power in the entirety of the empire.

Kael had everything, still he treated his family with disregard.

But the surprising part was Alicia, who still cared for a brother who had long died.

Why?

"Do you love that bas—guy that much?! Huh?!"

"..."

"Were you trying to kill me for him, that basta—idiot?"

Kevin let out his frustration, though he tried his best to expand his vocabulary and not utter something that could lead to an adverse outcome for anyone in this room.

Diana didn’t reply... No—

She wasn’t in a state to reply as her hand gripped the hilt of her sword more tightly, ready for combat.

Noah walked before Kevin and stood with his sword aimed downwards.

If it came to a fight, Noah was confident enough in neutralizing Diana within seconds, in order to contain the damage to the room and everyone present in it.

"I was."

Surprisingly, Diana answered after a long pause, her gaze never leaving Kevin.

"Diana, are you okay?! Are you hearing your own words?!"

Alicia’s voice trembled as she shook Diana to bring her out of whatever state she was currently in.

But—

Knock... Knock.

"Alicia, is that you?"

All heads turned towards the door as a very familiar voice questioned from behind.

"Ah! Yes... Wait for a second, I will open the door."

Alicia quickly composed herself and moved towards the door to open it.

Diana, after hearing the knock, seemed to have come out of her state, as Noah observed her putting the sword back in her storage.

Seeing Diana’s actions, Kevin and Noah did the same.
