Westheid was momentarily confused. Just then, he saw the Master of Extinction sitting on a brass throne in the darkness, quietly gazing at him.

The voice that reached his mind was still as deep, somber, and sorrowful as before:

"...I see. Of all the times for this to happen."

Westheid calmed down and thought for a moment, finally understanding what had occurred.

Temporal Chaos was a purely disordered maelstrom. It was quite common for people swept into the past to be pulled out at any given moment.

He just hadn’t expected the timing to be so coincidental. Westheid felt it was a pity; he could have personally presided over an Ascension Ceremony.

As for what happened to him afterward, he probably wouldn’t find the answer in the Master of Extinction’s memories.

Westheid asked. He was still eager to see the rest.

Inside the Monastery, the instant Westheid’s figure vanished, Wan Qi suddenly reached out, but she couldn’t even grasp his afterimage.

Her crimson pupils abruptly dilated then shrank. The gray-haired girl’s lips twitched a few times before she finally lowered her gaze to her palm.

"...Let’s meet again in the future. It’s a promise."

"For that beautiful future."

As if still immersed in the hope from moments ago, Wan Qi made some kind of resolution.

Implanting Soul Bone Metal into one’s body allowed one to contain and freely command pure Soul Energy, unaffected by any external factors. The effect was simply incredible.

For the Scholars of the Mortal World, Soul Bone was a material they could only dream of obtaining. However, the Celestial Vault Kingdom tightly controlled this foundational technology of their nation, and none of it had ever been leaked.

Westheid had actually been coveting it for a long time himself, but he never expected to be able to tinker with the raw materials within the Master of Extinction’s memory.

’I have to pay my respects to the legendary modification technology, Soul Bone Metal!’

So he decisively reproduced the future technology. The technique for creating Soul Bone Metal wasn’t complex to begin with; the only missing component was the raw material, Soul Bone.

Only Wan Qi was an exception.

As Wan Qi was inspecting her sword, someone handed her a combat mask.

It too was made of Soul Bone Metal. Crimson cracks spread across its pure white surface.

"What’s this?"

"The Mask of Ascension. Legend says this is what the emissaries of the heavens look like. We hope you will bring encouragement to the Warriors on the front lines."

"Legend, you say..."

Wan Qi seemed to recall something. She then took the mask and said:

"Not an emissary. I will become a god myself."

The surrounding Xuli People were not angered by these "blasphemous" words. Those present were the highest echelons of the entire nation, and they were among the few who could maintain their reason and clarity in this apocalyptic age. Naturally, they were well aware of the falsehood of faith.

They weren’t offended at all. Instead, they gave wry smiles and said with choked voices:

"Qinghui’s theory of apotheosis? We still can’t verify its truth, but we all hope it’s real."

"If reaching the pinnacle truly means becoming a god, then please, become our god, and lead us... to the heavens."

Wan Qi remained noncommittal. The gray-haired girl’s expression was cold and lifeless as she accepted the Mask of Ascension.

"I will."

[Afterward, we rushed to the front lines. To break our limits, we went to the most brutal battlefields and faced the most terrifying enemies.]
