Chapter 385: Hidden New Skill
No member of the Demon Race could have imagined that such a powerful being exists in the world.
On this afternoon, the crimson thunder became, much like that foreign figure, their eternal nightmare.
Community Thunder General’s four personal guards were swept in, charging far ahead, making any daring nearby Demon Race perish instantly.
Seven personal guards were completely defeated without even having uttered a sound.
Around Li Rui, within a mile radius, no living Demon Race dared to approach. They simply stared blankly at the person leaning on the umbrella, pulling out a Spirit Recovery Potion from his chest and drinking alone.
At this moment, he was uncaring of his surroundings. There were too many fodder soldiers. He couldn’t finish them all off. Since they were all stunned, he might as well seize the opportunity to replenish his Spiritual Power, avoiding any unexpected events later.
His eyes fixed on that royal banner, or more precisely, the ghost riders like Ju Ye charging toward the banner.
They were galloping on the last stretch of their demon life, and this gallop lasted ten years.
Ju Ye gazed at the tall figure jumping down from the royal chariot. Despite also wearing a gold crown and armor, he did not recognize this person as the King of Highland.
He faintly recalled the benevolent monarch from decades ago at the Royal Court, the one he acknowledged as the true sovereign.
"Ju Ye, no one is born weak; with diligence in training, one day you will be a warrior capable of worshiping the gods on the altar."
"You’ve made achievements, exactly when I wanted to form a heavy cavalry. You should join too."
"I’ve decided, this cavalry will be called Divine Power Cavalry. You all have strength and character akin to the Wind God."
"After quelling the rebellion, you will be the Thunder General of Divine Power, no longer just a crying little brat."
He remembered earlier times when his parents died in tribal conflicts, recalling the previous king who toured the frontline, and had him, a little demon with no remaining relatives, picked back up.
In his heart, that was not merely a tribal leader but an elder replacing his parents.
Like him, nearly all of this Divine Power Cavalry were war orphans.
For them, the former monarch might not have the ability to unite the highlands, but was undeniably a loyal and kind elder.
Unfortunately, for someone sitting in that position, loyalty might be a flaw.
Yet Ju Ye, like other ghost riders, had no interest in reasoning. All ghosts shared the same belief: let the usurper die right here!
"Kill!!!"
Amidst the shout of neither humans nor ghosts, King of Suiye grabbed his battle spear.
After witnessing that foreigner single-handedly slaughter his seven personal guards, he knew he would die here today.
He understood borrowing the power of those foreigners was akin to playing with fire.
Though both parties professed joint efforts, they were honestly dreaming in different beds. Calling upon those god-like foreigners, he had anticipated such an outcome.
He wanted a fearless fight. If victorious, the world would be his henceforth. If defeated, at the very least, the Royal Court’s forces finally descended from the highlands.
He had imagined countless endings; whether perishing in defeat or being usurped post excessive military campaigns, none of these were impossible.
The only unanticipated event was him dying amidst assassination by countless troops.
Truth be told, as the King of Highland, his power was immense, surpassing most of the Demon Race, but he could not defeat the seven united personal guards, yet the man before him did.
The god-like foreigner exhibited power at any time could end his life, but obviously deliberately wanted Divine Power Cavalry to personally end him.
He wouldn’t survive today, yet he wouldn’t sit and wait for death.
King of Suiye trudged heavily, raising his spear in fury.
"I unified the Royal Court!"
"I united all tribes to produce grain, forge weapons!"
"I freed those remote and ignorant people from slavery, fed them, bathed them in the glory of the Wind God!"
"Ju Ye, if you seek revenge, come forth!"
"But your foolishly loyal former king, my idiotic brother, never could accomplish what I have."
"I am the only king!"
"Ah!!!"
Confronting the encroaching Evil Qi, rather than retreat, he raised his spear, charging alone at nearly a hundred ghost riders.
Li Rui watched coldly as the demon king entered the Undead Array, dispersing the ghosts with his weapon.
However, even as his own people fell continuously, the ghost riders showed no sign of chaos or dispersion. Their iron hooves trotted over, promptly turned for a second round of charge, yet still failed to kill the fierce demon king.
It didn’t matter; if the second round failed, there was the third; if the third failed, there was the fourth.
Finally, after an unknown number of skirmishes, half of the undead ghost riders had fallen, but the King of Suiye couldn’t hold on either, covered in wounds, the Evil Qi continued corroding the injuries, losing his last bit of strength.
Thud!
Ju Ye’s lance pierced through his chest, lifting the towering corpse and flinging it into the air.
"Kill!!"
The body was submerged within the ghost rider ranks, shredded by the Evil Qi.
Li Rui rushed forward, setting the royal banner on fire.
"It’s over."
He glanced at Ju Ye; the latter nodded: "Great grace is beyond words."
Li Rui did not respond because he noticed something was wrong with the opponent’s state; the Evil Qi entangling them showed signs of dispersing.
This feeling was correct, the pitch-black eerie aura weakened visibly, finally revealing the true forms of those demon riders.
Previously shrouded in darkness, their appearances were obscured, now they seemed just like ordinary demons, indistinguishable from soldiers in the Royal Court.
Li Rui understood, these ghosts, although special, were still ghosts. If not lingering in areas where yin energy accumulates and losing inner obsession, dispersal was normal.
"...Shouldn’t have brought you along." He chuckled.
Ju Ye also grinned: "I’m getting cheeky this time."
Amid the great army, viewing the myriad Demon Race surrounding them as nothing, both could still smile, and none of the Demon Race dared approach.
Because together with the nearby great flag turning to ash was also their morale.
"Dismount!"
Ju Ye commanded, all ghost riders stood beside him, bowing deeply according to the Royal Court’s military rituals toward Li Rui.
This group of ghosts that had fought their way up from beneath the Royal Court finally reached the end entirely, as the souls void of Evil Qi began to mist, turning into wisps of blue smoke, yet miraculously not swept away by the wind, but converged upon Li Rui.
Those figures completely vanished gradually, while the smoke emitting faint light gathered around him.
