My Misfortune Crushed Instances

Chapter 346: Tugging One Strand Moves the Whole Body

"Quite a lot of people, huh."

Li Rui stood on a hidden hilltop, using binoculars to observe the enemy lines in the distance. He had realized that the arrangement by the Western Kingdom was intended to assassinate him.

The reason for such a grand setup was likely due to the death of Dylan Hegg.

Even if the opponent fell victim to the skills of the curse priest from the Polar Alliance, ultimately, they were still a high-risk target. The fact that someone managed to assassinate so quietly and slip away proves they deserve such a grand siege.

He had been leading the ghost riders on a zigzagging path in the rear for a full day, finding that the Western Kingdom’s defensive line was indeed as tough as a steel barrel, difficult to break through.

Fortunately, he had a helper, Ju Ye, who once led the royal court divine power cavalry.

This ghost was a fierce general from the Wind Slave Royal Court in his life, skilled in assessing battlefield situations and providing reasonable advice, which allowed them to avoid the most densely populated enemy areas and never encounter large-scale frontal conflict.

"Benefactor, they are determined not to let us break through. Under the current circumstances, it is unwise to force our way out."

Li Rui nodded, "What do you think, is it possible for us to escape north to Nuanyang State and then head east?"

"Impossible."

Ju Ye immediately said, "Nuanyang State is a barren desert, not a single blade of grass grows, extremely dangerous."

Li Rui had known this intelligence beforehand, and it was precisely why none of the three major nations rushed in. He asked on a whim, thinking perhaps Ju Ye, being a local ghost, might have a better idea.

"Then we’ll just have to wait."

"Wait for what?" Ju Ye asked.

"Wait for the Liangshui frontline to break out in conflict; when the enemy falters, there will be flaws, then we seize the chance to break through."

Ju Ye asked, "How do you know it will break out?"

"I’m guessing," Li Rui said carelessly.

"...." Ju Ye fell silent, neither agreeing nor opposing out of politeness.

Li Rui wasn’t actually guessing; he simply believed in Chen Cheng’s prophetic ability. Plus, the command center would surely find a way to operate a gap.

.....

Cheng Wen rushed back to the Yellow Earth City command center, where the situation was evidently more urgent.

"What’s the current situation?" He hurried into the operations command room, gulped down a glass of water he found on the table, and immediately began to inquire.

The bearded man leaning over the sand table lifted his head, "We haven’t locked in Roger Simon’s location, but based on their maneuvers, I suspect he’s likely on the frontline."

"Additionally, we’ve simulated their troop arrangement; their aim seems to be to force us back into retreat."

Cheng Wen asked, "Any news from Li Rui?"

"No news."

"Can’t Chen Cheng predict it either?"

"He’s been hit with backfire, so he’s in a useless state these days."

The Prophet, listening quietly, uncharacteristically did not contradict, as being backfired by sensing a Berserker wasn’t exactly a matter of pride.

Cheng Wen did not blame, only asked, "What about Kong Ji? Has he already gone to the Liangshui Vanguard Camp?"

"Yes, Conductor Kong has delegated command authority to me," the bearded man said.

Naturally, the authority reverted back to Cheng Wen.

Not just her, but several other members with the number 01 also ceased exploring the loot from East Wangze State; while they hadn’t returned, they were ready to assist at any time.

The Western Kingdom and Dragon Country brought most of their peak power to the frontline. The direct reason was someone assassinated an injured individual in Cold Wind State. Normally, for a conflict to break out, a catalyst is needed; however, each boundary of the armies has someone abnormal.

Guan Gui didn’t expect to cross the Liangshui River alone, and not venture far before encountering someone he couldn’t gauge the depth of.

He halted, letting the big river flow behind him, eyes fixed ahead.

The person opposite had very fair skin, short hair, slightly downward pointing eyes, and a pudgy nose, seemingly foolish-looking, yet exuding fierceness.

"Roger Simon?"

Guan Gui asked.

Despite the name, he still used the Dragon Country’s phonetic pronunciation.

"Black-clothed Death God," Simon grinned, without switching languages.

The two exchanged glances for six seconds, while a nest of crows flew from a nearby tree.

Boom!!

When the dust settled, a large pit appeared on the ground.

Guan Gui’s figure was gone, replaced by four resurrected ones clad in straw raincoats, with visible Evil Qi surrounding them.

Simon single-handedly wielded a massive two-handed hammer, with veins protruding on his fair skin, like flowing totems.

They both unleashed their core abilities immediately, as for formidable individuals like them, a slip could be fatal. They dared not resort to insignificant probing skills.

.....

Squeak—

Squeak—

Squeak—

The piercing sound of a one-inch-long whistle made from bamboo by the Witch City Demon Race signaled a quick emergency gathering.

Dong Sanchuan stuffed dry food in his mouth and leaped off the observation branch, darting towards the camp center.

"Brother Chuan, an emergency; Guan Gui and Simon have encountered each other and started fighting."

Zhang Hujun clenched his fists while speaking, looking ready to spring forward in support at the slightest command.

Dong Sanchuan was the actual leader here, overseeing fifty Extraordinary ones from Dragon Country, along with two hundred Demon Race members from four tribes around Witch City.

"As planned, excluding those on guard, everyone else come with me to Liangshui."

Known for his steady handling, Dong Sanchuan had long prepared for sudden situations, allowing immediate deployment.

About half of the force mobilized from the camp, heading straight for the location of the peak showdown upstream of Liangshui River.

Dong Sanchuan led the charge, wielding an ancient-looking longsword. Though not legendary, it possessed rare three-epic functional attack entries.

"Quick, quick!"

Zhang Hujun excelled in battlefield organization, specifically, he had a very loud voice.

"Stay close! Speed up! Anyone who takes down Simon earns great merit!"

Both Human and Demon Races could trade merit for benefits.

The entire team advanced swiftly in an orderly manner, covering nearly half the distance, until a long whistle stopped every demon in their tracks.

"Prepare for enemy engagement."

Dong Sanchuan drew the longsword.

No need for his instructions, others also witnessed the scene ahead: teams of Highland Demon Race in magnificent gear, military formation tight, the vanguard held human-high shields with glittering inscriptions capable of blocking spells.

Before the charge began, a shout from behind was heard.

"Fire!"

Swoosh, swoosh, swoosh!

Countless javelins soared through the air, trailing fiery tails straight towards them.

The Witch Race, having not seen war in decades, froze in uncertainty faced with this sight, while Dong Sanchuan confronted the javelin rain, charging forward with a gleaming flash of his sword.

Clang!

A sharp screech sliced through the sky, snapping all javelins mid-air, powerless in descent.

"Attack!"

Zhang Hujun roared, closely following suit.

Boom!!

Before he arrived, Nan Jiumei tossed an explosive, blasting open a breach amongst the shield-bearing Highland Demon Race.

Then, a team of four charged through the gap.

Only then did allied demon’s spells catch up; but the opposition was equally prepared. As the battle commenced, a meteor fell from the heavens, halting Dragon Country’s assault.

A long-haired Western Country man stood amidst the formation, fire ablaze in his hands, surrounded by several Human Race Extraordinary.

"Landry."

Dong Sanchuan locked eyes with him, "I will handle him."
