Reincarnation Of The Legendary Sword Saint

Chapter 121: The Demon Lord’s Legacy

He tried again, focusing intently. He imagined mana flowing everywhere, as if nature itself were listening. He could hear the soft rustle of trees, the gentle murmur of the earth. I feel so calm, he thought.

Following Rowan’s instructions, Neville visualized his green mana in his mind. This time, it appeared fully formed, encompassing his entire body. It was massive, powerful, and steady. Rowan watched, a small smile forming on his face.

"Finally," he muttered. He looks like he actually has a future now.

Neville, so absorbed in his focus, didn’t notice Rowan’s words. "You’ve done it," Rowan said. "Open your eyes."

Neville obeyed. His body shimmered with his green mana, glowing steadily.

"Now," Rowan instructed, "stand straight—but keep your mind focused the same way. Keep imagining what you did with your eyes closed, but now with them open."

Neville concentrated. This time, the mana didn’t fade. It stayed. I can actually control it, he realized. He jumped, bouncing lightly off the ground. His movements felt effortless.

He drew his sword and slashed through the air. Vroom! Speed surged through him. He raised his leg and kicked the air. A single leaf drifted from a tree, and with a precise swing, he cut it cleanly in two.

"Wow..." Neville breathed, smiling despite the sweat dripping down his face. He bowed his head slightly. "Thank you," he murmured.

Exhaustion hit him hard. He collapsed onto the ground, breathing heavily. The green aura gradually faded, leaving him spent but triumphant.

"I’ve used almost all my stamina for this... how long has it been?" he panted.

"Over two hours, you dummy," Rowan said, catching his own breath. "You’ve been holding yourself tensely the entire time. It’s natural you’d fall a few times."

Neville nodded, still sweating and tired. Rowan slashed through a nearby target, then wiped the sweat from his face.

"Alright," Rowan said, "let’s head back to class."

Neville pushed himself up, and together they walked back, the weight of training replaced by the satisfaction of growth.

As Rowan and Neville walked toward the classroom, the energy in the school was palpable. Every student seemed to sense something extraordinary. Some glanced at Rowan and Neville, noting the difference in their aura, power, and presence. Even in the elite classes, a few students whispered about the new strength in the room.

When they reached their classroom, they opened the door and stepped inside. Everyone was seated, but the air shifted as they entered. Luna noticed them immediately.

"How are you two? Where have you been?" she asked.

"Just... moving around," Rowan replied calmly.

"Alright, go ahead and take your seats," Luna said. Neville and Rowan moved to their spots, drawing curious glances from the others.

"Now, everyone," Luna continued, "since all of you have completed your tests, we know where you stand. Some of you didn’t pass—we’ve already informed them. For those who did, if you want to join the tournament, we need five participants from this class. Five people. Raise your hands if you’re willing."

"Daryl, Velqira, the twins—Killi and Kori. The four of you are accepted."

Luna wrote their names on the board before lifting her gaze toward the back of the classroom.

Her eyes landed on Rowan, who was sitting quietly with his head slightly lowered.

"Rowan."

He looked up, slightly startled.

"What?"

"You’re joining them," Luna said firmly.

Rowan frowned.

"But... I didn’t even raise my hand."

Luna crossed her arms.

"Shouldn’t you be happy about this? This is an opportunity that many students would fight for."

Rowan slowly raised one hand.

"Well... I refuse."

The entire classroom fell silent.

Luna’s eyebrow twitched.

"If you don’t know already, I’m your class teacher. Whether you agree or not doesn’t matter. The participants have already been decided."

She tapped the list with the chalk.

"There were eight or nine students in this class who were qualified enough to participate. Some of them chose not to volunteer, leaving four positions open."

She looked directly into Rowan’s eyes.

"And besides... the Headmaster personally requested that you be included."

Rowan’s fingers tightened into a fist beneath his desk.

What the hell now?

Why are they so determined to drag me into this?

Probably because of my performance, Rowan thought. But still, it shouldn’t be enough for them to go this far.

And for some reason... I can feel it.

The moment one calamity ends, another one is already approaching.

He remained silent, listening as Luna picked up the book on her desk.

"Before we end today’s class, there’s something I want to tell all of you."

The classroom became quiet.

"You’ve all heard bits and pieces about what has happened over the last thirty years, but many of you don’t know the full story."

She paused before continuing.

"Every Hero who has been summoned has been killed."

The students’ expressions stiffened.

"Even S-Class adventurers are nothing compared to the current Demon Lord."

She looked around the room.

"And remember this clearly. The current Demon Lord is still very young. I would estimate he’s only around five feet five inches tall."

The students were surprised.

"He has ruled the Demon Realm for over thirty years and is considered one of the strongest Demon Lords to ever exist."

She closed the book in her hands.

"According to the legends, one of the first and strongest Archangels was cast down from the heavens for reasons still unknown. He became the first Fallen Archangel."

"The Fallen Archangel descended into the Demon Realm and eventually took control, becoming the Demon Lord."

"He despised humans above every other race."

"At that time, demons were considered one of the weakest races. They ranked below humans, demi-humans, elves, dwarves—almost everyone."

"But after the Fallen Archangel took control, the Demon Race grew stronger than anyone had imagined."

She took a deep breath.

"Later, the Fallen Archangel had a child with a demon."

"That child became the current Demon Lord."

A wave of whispers spread throughout the classroom.

"He’s half Archangel... and half Demon."

"That’s the reason no Hero has ever been able to defeat him."
