Reincarnation Of The Legendary Sword Saint

Chapter 106: After the Demon’s Shadow

Meanwhile...

Every student was marched out of the building.

Parts of the academy were severely damaged. Cracks ran along the walls. Sections of the structure had partially collapsed. Dust still lingered in the air.

All the students stood outside in rows.

Tension filled the atmosphere.

An instructor stepped forward.

"After what happened today... we faced a major crisis. The academy has suffered heavy damage."

The students remained silent.

"We initially planned to move all of you to the Upper Echelon Building — the combat training facility."

He paused.

"But there are new students among you. Some of you still cannot properly release your aura."

Murmurs spread quietly.

"Even so, you will still be relocated there temporarily."

He continued,

"If you wish to participate in class-to-class battles or individual duels, you may do so inside the combat dome."

He gestured toward the damaged area.

"Part of the dome was destroyed. However, your dormitories — both male and female — were not directly affected."

A few students sighed in relief.

"You will return and pack your belongings."

"The main structure of the academy is not completely ruined, but it is no longer stable."

That was when Lisa raised her hand.

"May I say something?" she asked.

The instructor nodded. "Yes, Lisa."

She stepped forward slightly.

"Why didn’t the mages come to support us during the crisis?"

Her tone wasn’t aggressive — but it was firm.

"The Mage Tower isn’t far from here. Their building was also damaged. But we didn’t see a single one of them. We didn’t even hear anything from them. Why didn’t they try?"

A slight murmur followed her words.

The instructor’s expression changed.

"Who told you they didn’t try?"

The students quieted again.

"They wanted to join us."

His voice became serious.

"Especially one of the new teachers... Elian."

A few students exchanged confused looks.

"She tried to come out. She even argued with some of the mages. She insisted on coming to the battlefield."

He narrowed his eyes slightly.

"She kept saying something about saving her master."

The instructor shook his head.

"I still don’t understand what she meant."

The students stiffened.

"But the mages were given strict orders not to interfere."

He continued,

"The higher council determined that their involvement would not change the outcome."

His voice became heavier.

"Even if every mage here combined forces against that demon..."

He paused.

"...they would not have been able to defeat it."

Silence fell again.

"And there is another issue."

He looked toward the direction of the Mage Tower.

"Their building is close to the academy."

"Just from the aura that demon emitted... their structure began to crack."

"And it’s not just here," Lisa continued, her voice steady despite the tension.

"A lot of things were destroyed. Not only within the academy grounds, but even in the capital."

The students looked at her.

"Even the capital square — the central district where most of the major buildings stand."

A few gasps spread quietly.

"According to the reports we received, the damage there wasn’t catastrophic..."

She paused.

"But it was still significant."

Her expression hardened.

"The king will address it."

The weight of that statement lingered in the air.

Then Kyle stepped forward.

"Everyone."

His tone was calm, but firm.

"I’m sorry for what happened today."

Silence fell immediately.

"And one more thing."

He glanced toward the main gate.

"There are over one hundred carriages approaching the academy right now."

Murmurs spread again.

"You should prepare in groups of four per carriage."

He continued,

"There are also an additional forty supply carriages coming to transport damaged materials and essential equipment."

His expression softened slightly.

"So please, go to your dormitories and pack your belongings before the carriages arrive."

He gave a reassuring smile.

"We are relocating."

"The new building isn’t far. It will take about an hour to reach it."

The students nodded.

Then they began to disperse.

Girls moved toward their dormitory wing.

Boys headed in the opposite direction.

The courtyard slowly emptied.

Rowan lingered behind for a moment.

He looked at the shattered academy.

The cracked walls.

The debris scattered across the grounds.

And the massive crater carved into the school field.

His expression remained unreadable.

Then he turned and began walking toward the dormitory.

Oh...

He paused briefly.

I almost forgot.

Elian...

She must’ve been worried.

Rowan smiled faintly as he kept walking.

He slid both hands into his pockets.

"Ah... today was rough."

His voice was light.

"But I can’t say it’s the first..."

He glanced at the cracked walls around him.

"...and it definitely won’t be the last."

Students passed by him, murmuring, still shaken by what they had witnessed.

Some looked pale.

Some looked excited.

Some were still afraid.

Then—

"Rowan!"

He turned slightly.

Neville hurried to his side.

"Hey, wait. Let’s go together," Neville said, slightly out of breath.

Rowan smiled and nodded.

"Sure."

The two of them walked side by side toward the dormitory building.

Part of the entrance door was shattered.

Wood splintered.

Glass cracked.

But it still stood.

They stepped inside.

The hallway lights flickered slightly.

Dust coated parts of the floor.

Without saying much, they began climbing the stairs.

Footsteps echoed.

Up.

One floor.

Then another.

The academy might have been shaken.

The world might have changed.

But for now—

They were just two students.

Walking back to their room.

Rowan entered his room without wasting time.

He opened his wardrobe and began packing.

Clothes.

Boots.

Gloves.

Everything folded neatly and placed into a wooden box.

His movements were calm. Efficient.

Then his eyes shifted.

To the sword resting in the corner of his room.

For a brief second, his gaze lingered on it.

Unreadable.

He picked it up.

Attached it to his side.

Then lifted his box.

And walked out.

The hallway was busy now.

Students moving in and out.

Carrying luggage.

Voices overlapping.

Then—

From outside the dome—

The sound of horses.

Many of them.

Hooves striking stone in unison.

Carriage wheels grinding against the road.

Rowan stepped out of the damaged dome structure.
