Chapter 66 - 66: ROUND TWO
My anger was caused to rise due to Igiris' incessant mocking of my inability to save those who need it. "Well, Amelia is safe for now," he uttered smirking. "But a friend of yours has something to say. Don't you?" He lifted Marcus up by the head, he was mutilated and looked like a different person.
Not a word came from his mouth, his eyes tightly closed. Igiris was losing patience and asked him one more time, but he didn't utter another word. I called out his name. He looked at me and said, "It's time you kill them, Captain." After those words were said Igiris decapitated Marcus and blood gushed out of his neck rhythmically.
I didn't show emotion and slowly walked toward. He smiled thinking he has me where he wants me.
Ben noticed my actions and lunged himself toward me past Igiris. Before he could land his hit with his left hand, I cut it off, ducked and hit him square in the chest, launching him in the air. Watching Ben fly up, Igiris was surprised and took a stance to fight.
Dashing toward him with the façade of no control of my movements I attacked him with a slash of my sword however he caught it effortlessly with his right hand. He gave off a soft chuckle, severely underestimating me. Letting go off the hilt of my sword I followed with a right hook and my gauntlets fastened on my fists.
Flying toward the diner, I intercepted him with a devastating but weak left jab changing his direction along the street into another. He crashed into a building and Ben ran toward me. I jumped above him and spun in the air with my sword in my hand. As I fell back down to the ground, Ben being slow to look up and once he did, I stabbed him in the back driving my sword into the pavement beneath.
Pinned to the ground he struggled to free himself from his new trap. I calmly stepped beside his head, held my gun in hand and shot him five times in his head. He stopped moving and he transformed back to human.
'One down, one to go.' I thought in my head.
Rubble fell on to the ground in the building ahead, I looked and Igiris was stepping out of the rubble. He placed his left hand on his head, visibly in pain. His eyes darted around looking for me, and once they had found me, he found the corpse of his co-worker by my feet lifeless.
A fierceness seethed from him, he wanted blood, however I remained calm. I managed to get my anger under control, and it was time to use his against him. He dashed toward me, screaming, "I will kill you bastard!" I walked onto the road giving him a chance to hit me. I am not that stupid! I pushed my right leg back and bent a knee on my left leg, turned my torso to the right. My right hand behind my left and my gauntlets on them.
Igiris was fast and when he stepped close enough, I gave him a to where his liver should be, using less force to hit him. Shot after shot, I stunned him enough for a close line into the tarred road. Not giving him a chance to breathe, I dragged him along the road, hoisted him in the air and punched him square in the chest.
His chance to live was coming to an end. A bullet hit the ground stopping me from moving forward. Instinctively I took cover behind the corner of a wall of a nearby building. I peeked to find where the shot came from, but another bullet was shot. Barely dodging it, I had my pistol out in my hand and it at another building.
I had an estimate of the origin of the bullet, but I had to be quick. Aiming at a good angle, I pulled the trigger and bullet ricocheted off the building at a sublime angle. Hopefully it would stop the shooter. Or it would kill them. Nonetheless I didn't want to wait and find out.
Igiris tried surprising me with an aerial attack while I wasn't paying attention to him. 'He recovered faster than last time!' I thought surprised. Barely able to jump out of the way I dodged his attack and he destroyed the wall.
"You aren't going to get away with this! I have friends who are on the way to help us." He spoke and laughed maniacally.
Before I could react, his hand was a few centimetres away from. In the last second I ducked and hit him with a fast but weak right to the gut. Then I followed up with a powerful left hook, crashing into a wall right beside us.
After incapacitating him, I took out my sword and drove it straight through his head. His body stopped moving and his breathing stopped as well. I wasn't sure that I killed him, so I went for his heart.
Driving my hand through his gut, I made a large enough laceration so I can push my arm further into his body. He was bleeding and his entrails were wet and slimy. Blindly digging through his chest, I grabbed an organ that was still beating. I held tightly in my hand and crushed it. Afterward I ripped it out of his body.
My sword no longer in his head, I left his corpse to rot in the wall for all I cared.
Moments later I was in the diner washing my arms and Amelia came up to me. She stood beside me and asked me, "Well, what's next?" I placed my hands on the edge of the sink and looked at her, turning my head toward her.
"What's next is that I relinquish your status as my slave and let you be free," I spoke.
She looked at me confused. I stood up straight, grabbed the chains that no one else but her and I could see and ripped them off my arm. She was perplexed and placed her arm in the middle of her chest. "I-I don't understand," she said. "I am no longer chained to you?"
I could feel the hurt in her voice. "Yes," I responded. "Aren't you happy, that you are no longer forced to be mine."
"No! I didn't want this! You took that decision from me, and now you ask me if I am happy with it. What the fuck do you think of me, a little kid who can't make her own fucking decisions. I am not a fucking kid Captain! And you had no right to do that. For once I wanted to remain the way we were because I slowly fell in love with you!" she protested, tears streaming down her face.
"If that is what you want, just tell me… that you want to be devoted to me and only me. Once you do, the chains will come again, and shackles will be around your neck once more."
"I have given you my body once Captain. I don't know if I am willing to do it again. But I know that my love can't be contained, so, I give you myself and my whole for whatever you wish, master."
Once she spoke those words, new silver shackles appeared and wrapped her neck, and it was followed by silver chains that wrapped around my arms. 'What are these chains?' I asked myself. I had not once seen these before, but I didn't have the time to find out.
Back at the safehouse Henry and Carla were mourning Cordina. Marcus was the only one who kept her alive and now that he was gone, she went away as well. "Ravedos, you have done all that you could. She is no longer your responsibility," Aro spoke. I looked at her disheartened that I couldn't do anything.
Carla managed to utter words, but she choked on some of her words. "Your time should be able to wake up in any moment now." She said fighting back her cries. "We are going to take her and leave. Thank you for trying to help us."
"I am sorry I couldn't any better than this." I said sorrowfully.
They picked up the corpse and left with it.
Left there thinking to myself, I wasn't sure if Ito was dead or if she was the shooter. But as for Igiris and Ben they were gone but there remains several of those in the underground network to take care of.
It wasn't about saving the city, it was about killing the disease that caused all of this.
