Chapter 270: Karma
King Ald was walking back and forth anxiously in front of his advisors, waiting for good news from his son about the war.
"What’s taking so long anyway? We deployed fifteen thousand elite soldiers with the help of the Jing Empire’s extra troops. Destroying that Beast Kingdom should be easy!"
He hadn’t been this anxious for a long time. The last time he felt this way was when his older brother, the previous Crown Prince, returned alive from Roc Forest and waged a civil war against him to claim his rightful throne.
Back then, King Ald had ordered the assassination of his older brother, Crown Prince Elduin, and the assassin reported that the Crown Prince had bled to death.
Elduin was so close to winning the civil war. Thankfully, his older brother was always so kind and naive. King Ald pretended to surrender and then assassinated his older brother himself, successfully claiming the throne in the process.
Everything was smooth-sailing... until now.
He sent his son to lead the army because that would boost his popularity, and once he took the crown, everyone would be hailing him as the hero who cleansed Roc Forest from beastmen infestation.
The door to the courtroom was suddenly knocked, and a civil officer came with a box.
"Your Majesty, there is a box in front of the courtroom. Another officer outside has checked it, and he... vomited on the spot. But he told me that Your Majesty needs to see it, because... because it’s news about the Crown Prince."
King Ald had a terrible feeling about this. He didn’t want to open the box, but at the same time, he was also desperate for news about his son.
"Put it on the table and open it for me," King Ald ordered.
The officer obeyed. He put it on the round table right in front of King Ald and the rest of the advisors.
Then, he opened it—
Loud gasps filled the air, followed by retching and vomiting as the advisors couldn’t help themselves.
Meanwhile, King Ald was petrified on the spot, because he saw his son’s severed head, alongside a small note written beautifully in their language.
-*
His severed head is repayment for killing my father. You took the throne from him, so you shall never inherit it to anyone after this.
Sincerely,Crown Prince Elduin’s Daughter.
-*
King Ald was unable to handle the shock in his heart and fell on the spot.
He gasped for air as the sharp pain in his chest was too much for him to bear.
But the advisors were too weak to check on him, and the officer who brought the head smiled upon seeing the fallen king.
He took off his official hat, showing a pair of bunny ears, and said, "Queen Sisi sends her regards."
That was the last word that King Ald heard before everything turned dark as he breathed his last.
**
"And he must’ve had a heart attack by now," Sisi said as she talked with Kael, who had just finished taking a long bath to cleanse the scent of blood coming from his body.
Jojo had already fallen asleep after having dinner, while Kael and Sisi sat on a chair with her being straddled on his strong thighs.
If only this wasn’t the night after the war, everyone who saw this scene would’ve thought that the Beast Kingdom was in a good situation right now.
However, they had a landslide victory, and those who died on the Beast Kingdom’s side would be honored as heroes, and their families would be well fed until their children were able to fend for themselves.
Thus, despite some losses, nobody in the Beast Kingdom was demoralized.
"With Crown Prince Ludwig and King Ald dead, and their army being completely destroyed, I think it’d only take a while until a neighboring kingdom conquered it and turned it into a vassal state," Sisi added. "King Ald killed my father and stole his throne, so I might as well burn it all to the ground, because the nobles mostly supported King Ald back then."
"And how did you know all this, Sisi?"
"I worked in the streets back then. I knew a few things about Crown Prince Elduin and the civil war. I just didn’t expect him to be my late father..." Sisi replied. "I resented him for taking me out of the faerie land, but at the same time, it was also my mother’s dream to make me see the world rather than being stuck with the faeries for the rest of my life."
Sisi rested her head on Kael’s naked chest and asked, "Kael, do you think that I’m cruel?"
"Cruel?" Kael raised his brows. "You’re the softest woman I’ve ever known in life."
Well, that was not wrong, because female beastmen were not exactly soft.
"Even if you didn’t order them to kill that cowardly Crown Prince, I would’ve done it myself and tossed his head into the Barion Kingdom’s palace," Kael said. "What you did is called karma. He stole the throne from your father, and you destroyed his future."
"Mm, I also think it’s karma. I heard from street rumors that the commonfolk were in favor of my father as king; that’s why most of his supporters were common people. But in the end, he still got betrayed by his own little brother."
"Alright, enough talk about him. Barion Kingdom will cease to exist soon enough, and no other kingdom will dare to challenge us after this," Kael said. "I’m just glad that you and Jojo are safe."
He wrapped his arm around her belly and pulled her closer into his embrace.
Sisi held her breath as she could feel the throbbing thick stick right under her butt.
She knew that Kael must’ve been eager to do it, but she had never been intimate with anyone before. So it was still scary to feel something so thick and big having to enter her for the first time.
