Chapter 404 - 404: Final Moment
Mater and some of his people were in Leslie's laboratory, which was now located in the Dark Court of the Everlasting Wilds.
Thomas picked up the God Suspension and examined it.
"You really did it. You found a way to stabilize the Suspension." Thomas said.
"You know about this?" Leslie said.
Thomas nodded. "God Suspension. That thing was created by the Pantheon of Neilos to help us fight the hells back in the Great War. Back in that time, the God Soldier, James Fowler, was the first that consumed the God Suspension, allowing him to reach Rank-4 eventually."
"How do you know this?" Mater said.
"Because I met James Fowler before. He is alive. He was luckier than me and was able to escape the grasp of the hells and hid himself."
"Why didn't he return?"
"Because his blood has the GOD Suspension. Since you are a Warlock, you must know about Fate, right?"
The black cat nodded.
"Neutral Fate is fine. But the Fate in God Suspension was already influenced by Neilos, this hereby allows them to control those that consumed the God Suspension. Their power couldn't reach to realm filled with Chaos like hells."
"I see." The black cat stroked his whiskers. "So James Fowler hides in hell so that the Pantheon won't control him."
"Precisely."
"Is there any way for us to remove the Fate influence?" Iris asked.
"There is one way. We actually figured it out in the past." Thomas said. "Unfortunately, that piece of information was long gone. The last person who knew about it was kiled."
"Do you know who?" Mater said.
"A Bounty Hunter named Aaron Cage." Thomas said.
And everyone turned over to Crow.
"Why are everyone looking at him?" Thomas said.
"He has the memories of Aaron Cage." Selina said.
"I see. So that's the true." Crow said. "Everything makes sense now."
Crow touched his temple and pulled a small dot of light. "I keep this memory for quite a while but still didn't understand why Vic betrayed Aaron. But if the Union has always been corrupted by the Pantheon, then everything makes sense."
Crow let the dot of light to blossom, showing the last moment of Aaron Cage's life.
He and Victor Fontaine were tasked with retrieving a secret classified document from a 'terrorist organization'.
The memory showed the vision of Aaron Cage just like a movie in the first person points of view.
He and Victor Fontaine went into the jungle. They killed many people on their way. They were Platinum Hunter, killing people was what they're great at.
The two of them carved out a way inside the enemy base by blood. And when they arrived there, Aaron took the document.
But he disobeyed his order and opened up the piece of document.
He was appalled by it and decided to keep it hidden or release it.
Victor had another idea. He was a loyal soldier to the Union without reasons.
"Our government is just a puppet, Vic. We have to release this document. If people know..."
"Why the fuck did you have to open it, Cee?! Our mission is to get in, take the goddamn document, and get out. This mission alone is worth 25 million credits. Just think of everything we can get."
"Money isn't always the problem, Vic. This thing. This truth. Our entire life was a life. We need go tell people about it."
"It is none of our concerns, Cee! We are Bounty Hunters. We accept mission, we complete it. Simple as that. Why should we care if our government is run by gods, demons, or humans? It literally changes nothing about our lives."
"I... We can end this charade, Vic. My daughter is three years old now. Me and the other Platinum Hunters work our ass off to protect this world. Not the Pantheon. I want to make a better world for mu daughter."
Vic raised his finger. Chaos focused and became a large growling sphere.
"Give me the document, Cee. We can't let this go out."
"I can't, Vic. It's our moral obligation, Vic."
"Fine."
The Chaos Spheres turned into a bullet and burnt a hole inside Aaron Cage's head. He was killed by his very own partner.
The memory faded away.
Mater and the other sighed together.
"Aaron Cage..." Thomas mumbled. "What a man."
"He died too soon." Iris nodded.
"So we now know where we can start to lool for answer." The black cat stroked his whiskers. "Victor Fontaine. Does anyone know this guy?"
"Unfortunately, yes." Iris said. "Victor Fontaine is the current Director of the Department of Supernatural Interference. He is very alive and well."
"So that means the document was either destroyed or returned to the Pantheone. We can't know its content now." Thomas said.
"Actually..." The black cat grinned widely. "There might be a way. Did Aaron Cage have a good look at the document, Crow?"
"Only faintly. Not enough to do anything." Crow said.
"Do you think Victor Fontaine might have read it or know its content?" Mater said.
"You mean... To catch him and use Terror Break to read the content of the document?"
"That. Or maybe the document isn't destroyed yet and we can find out where it went." Mater said.
"That sounds like a plausible plan." Thomas nodded.
"Let's get ready to return to the Union!"
After that short meeting, the servants returned to their respective Shrines to prepare for advancement.
Mater had acquired a lot of Rank-3 Chaos Singularities from invading the three pocket dimensions.
First, he raised all the original three servants to Peak Rank-3 power.
Aurora returned to the ice throne above the Northern Lights.
Crow returned to his house within the dark tree, where Tanya was happily waiting for him every day.
Bash bathed in the lava pool within his Steel Flower again.
The three floor pulsed greatly. Each Shrine spread out Chaos Waves similar to Mater a few days ago.
Mater also put Forus into his Shrine in the Abyss Floor, the Abyssal Fortress.
Solarix, Erin, Kaera, Lucyna merged themselves with the shrines. These four were still only Rank-1, it was time to pick their pace up.
"Alright, everyone. Group Advancement incoming!" The black cat clasped its paw. The entire Chaos Realm was shaken.
