Chapter 312: Demanding Captain
"They are so impressive." Becky said.
Loretta nodded.
But that wasn’t the end. Selina was also sparring with Evelynn. They were using techniques that Loretta and Becky didn’t even hear about.
Selina’s eyes turned red as she shot out the two bright red lasers at Evelynn.
The Siren was fast and easily dodged her attack. She replied with her own Psionics.
Evelynn had an earring similar to the rest of the female members. She flicked the earring, causing it to release a high-pitched ringing noise.
The Siren, of course, couldn’t use her own spells because that would expose who she was. Instead, she used a Psionic that she learned from the Institute. This Psionic was Wave Displacement.
This skill was very similar to the skill that the Diver of the Atlas Seven once used. The Psionic could release shockwaves into the world and damage the enemy.
But Evelynn had a different way of using it.
After the Psycho Program registered in the ring, her Chaos formed into a specific matrix.
The earring shined brightly as Evelynn whispered, "Blow."
Instead of spreading the shockwave, Evelynn constricted it into one single straight line. This way the shock wave would be much more destructive. The area of effect was smaller however.
The invisible wave beam distorted the air and shot toward Selina.
Selina ducked down and let the wave beam went over her. It collided with the ground and dug out a massive hole that made the other members of the class pale.
"There is no one normal at all in our class." Astrid finally gave up and fainted.
Oscar was responsible for her. As soon as her body gave up, she brought her to rest, woke her up, then dragged Astrid to the training facility once more.
Astrid cried like a baby. Her fingernails clawed at the ground.
"Please! Please! I just want some rest!" She begged.
"Get back on your feet, soldier!" Oscar shouted.
The grueling training didn’t end. It kept on going. Selina’s classmates learned to live with it.
The Psychosmith Astrid and the Mechanic Miles were the ones who objected to her training regime the most. But they soon ignored it when they found out how strong they could become.
They were so focused on heighten their crafts that they didn’t think they could also hone their Psychic power.
The mid-term came closer and closer. But it wasn’t there yet.
Erin’s eyelids fluttered open. She found herself in a strange place that she couldn’t recognize. The ceiling contained an ancient symbol and every piece of furniture was made of stone and wood.
The room didn’t even look like the modern world even. It looked like a medieval world that Erin had somehow transported to.
"Was I transmigrated or something?" Erin spoke to herself.
The last thing she remembered was warmth. She went crazy again in her dorm when she heard that voice.
The voice that belonged to the Queen of the Moon Court.
Erin knew about her heritage. Her father always told her that she was a Half-Fae. But she thought the old man was just crazy.
But things started to change the older she got. Dreams of a distant world. Voices of those she had never met.
It had happened many times before. Each time, she felt more disconnected to this world and her body changed.
Erin grabbed her platinum hair. The reason she dyed it in so many colors was because she wanted to get away from the truth.
Her hair wasn’t always this color. But it changed.
"Someone hugged me that night... They didn’t wear anything. It wasn’t Selina though."
Erin hugged Selina to sleep many times. She knew her smell too well.
The girl noticed an IV inserted into her arms. Someone had been caring for her.
The door suddenly opened. Solarix came inside with a tray of food.
"Ah. Miss Eggington, you’re finally awake."
"Who... Who are you?" Erin said.
"I am Selina’s servant. You can call me Sol. She has entrusted me to care for you." Solarix said.
"Care for me? Why?"
"It is a long story, Miss Eggington. I’m afraid it would be best if Selina explains it to you. But you will have to wait for a bit. She isn’t here now."
"Where is she?"
"She’s taking care of some business at the moment."
Selina and the black cat visited the AE Forges. Rowan had shortlisted a lot of people that could participate in Hymn of the Battlefield.
To be precise, Selina announced a mini battle reenactment with very good pay. She called it the Battle of the Courts. That’s why there were so many applications.
Since the day she and the black cat took over the Dark Syndicate, money wasn’t really their problem anymore. So they could afford a grandiose event like this.
When they arrived at the AE Forges, they were surprised at how crowded it was. It wasn’t just from the people that came to apply but the amount of pure enthusiasts and blacksmiths were several times more.
She parked her bike in front of Rowan’s office and went inside.
A girl almost slammed into her when she got out.
"Terribly sorry." The girl said.
"It’s alright." Selina smiled.
"You’re here for the audition, too?" The girl said.
She scanned Selina up and down. Selina had that gothic vibe and an undeniable presence. She was too pretty to be just any girl.
Selina shook her head. "I’m not here for an audition. I am the producer of the event."
The goth girl walked inside, leaving the girl staring after her.
Rowan and Sparrow were interviewing the participants. There were too many people then they thought.
Rowan felt exhausted from everything. LARPing was his hobby but he never thought that it would be this difficult.
Sparrow, however, didn’t seem to be tired at all. The man just worked and worked through all the interviews.
"Where did Selina find you anyway? You’re one tough son of a bitch. If I didn’t know you, I would have thought you were weak." Rowan said.
Sparrow smiled mysteriously. "Well. She actually picked me up in a forest."
Selina found him in the haunted lakeside of Ines Sota. He wasn’t lying.
One of Rowan’s employees came inside.
"Rowan. Selina is here."
"Finally! We can finally move on to the next step!"
