Chapter 360: Dr. Hill
Lin Ye walked into the treatment room.
Inside sat a female doctor whose appearance strongly resembled a fox. She had a petite figure, short black hair, and pitch-black eyes that held a certain transparency.
The doctor's sitting posture was very proper, even giving off a somewhat obedient feeling.
"Please have a seat, what should I call you?"
The doctor revealed a gentle, amiable smile. In a different environment, she would likely be someone patients could easily trust.
"Lin Ye. My mental state is not problematic."
On a nearby bookshelf were various books related to mental health. On the slightly raised left side of the doctor's chest hung an old, worn name tag.
Psychiatry Department, Dr. Hill.
"Although many patients have said the same thing, I've never before met a patient with a condition as severe as yours, Mr. Lin Ye. However, you are correct, your mental state truly has no issues."
Dr. Hill agreed with Lin Ye's statement. This wasn't medical jargon;
she genuinely thought so. "I was once a doctor too. Although my field of treatment was different, I'm not likely to develop mental health problems."
Lin Ye sat opposite the desk, looking directly at Dr. Hill. Just by looking into her eyes, he naturally felt a sense of trust toward the doctor.
This situation wasn't normal, but Lin Ye didn't find it particularly unpleasant.
"Doctors with mental health issues are not uncommon. After all, being a doctor is not an easy profession."
Dr. Hill said with a smile.
"I think it's alright. For me, it was relatively easy."
For Lin Ye, working outside was far easier than back in his hometown.
"Mr. Lin Ye is quite special. Ordinary people wouldn't think that way."
Dr. Hill said, still smiling.
"Why does a doctor stay in a place like this?"
Lin Ye didn't think the prisoners here had any need for psychiatric treatment.
"The reason is probably related to why you came here."
Dr. Hill stood up and walked to Lin Ye's side, reaching out to touch his right eye.
"You know how to deal with the Abyssal Eye?"
Lin Ye didn't dodge. After being in the Black Prison for so long, he had finally encountered information related to the Abyssal Eye.
"I also have an equally troublesome eye. That's why I stay in a place like this."
Lin Ye looked up and met the doctor's gaze. A spine-chilling abyss appeared deep within the doctor's left eye.
"...You have a method to control the Abyssal Eye?"
Lin Ye finally understood why the young girl had sent him here. It was to learn from a senior about coexisting with the Abyssal Eye.
"I do, but the effect is mediocre. Otherwise, I wouldn't need to stay in a place like this."
The abyss in Dr. Hill's eyes quickly vanished, leaving only those amiable-looking eyes.
"Can you teach me this method? I can exchange other valuable knowledge with you."
Lin Ye only needed a temporary method to control the Abyssal Eye. With the system's help, his advancement speed would be fast. Once he became strong enough, the Abyssal Eye wouldn't be much trouble for him.
After all, he needed to solve the problem of the Abyssal Evil God. If he couldn't even handle the Abyssal Eye, he might as well go to the Rest Area and idle away his life waiting for death.
Falling asleep on a park bench was also a unique life experience.
"That won't be necessary. The knowledge to control the Abyssal Eye, I can teach you for free. However, before that, I have a proposal. A pair of Abyssal Eyes has an automatic aggregation property. You could hand your Abyssal Eye over to me for handling. Since I have to stay here anyway, one eyeball or two eyeballs doesn't make much difference. Mr. Lin Ye, you are a system Survivor, right? The Abyssal Eye will let you see things others cannot, even see some Abyssal scenes. This is extremely dangerous, both for you and for other Planes."
Dr. Hill said sincerely.
"Wouldn't that cause some negative effects for you?"
Lin Ye stared into Dr. Hill's eyes. He didn't believe there was no difference between one eyeball and two. If one eye was affected, the other could still observe things normally. If both eyes were simultaneously affected, he wasn't sure what would happen.
"Of course not."
Dr. Hill calmly met Lin Ye's gaze.
"Your lying skills still need improvement. Please teach me the knowledge to control the Abyssal Eye. Since you don't require corresponding knowledge in exchange, then when I can fully control the Abyssal Eye, you can hand yours over to me for handling."
Dr. Hill probably didn't lie often. Lin Ye easily saw through her falsehood.
"Then I'll thank you in advance."
Dr. Hill taught Lin Ye the method to control the Abyssal Eye. The method wasn't complicated, but each step was crucial. This was clearly the result of Dr. Hill's long-term research, not as simple as she made it sound.
The Abyssal Eye control method belonged to a type of mental energy application. Lin Ye memorized all the steps of the control method, planning to try it later after returning to the Shelter.
"Mr. Lin Ye's learning ability is astonishing. If I had such learning ability back then, I wouldn't have worried about various medical licensing exams."
No teacher dislikes a student who understands immediately upon hearing. Teacher Hill was no exception.
"The teacher taught well."
Lin Ye's purpose for coming here was already achieved, but the young girl hadn't pulled him back. This indicated Lin Ye had to rely on himself to escape the Black Prison.
"Mr. Lin Ye, are you planning to leave the Black Prison now?"
Dr. Hill asked.
"I haven't found a way to escape the Black Prison yet. Do you know how to leave this place?"
Lin Ye felt escaping through the dark area outside the prison gate wasn't reliable. In the darkness, the Giant would be more dangerous, and the darkness likely held more enemies than just the Giant.
Dr. Hill didn't answer directly. Instead, she shifted her gaze to one side of the room, where there was a door leading to another room.
"...Can I leave the Black Prison from here?"
Lin Ye said in surprise.
"Mhm. Inside is a passage I opened when I entered the Black Prison. You can leave through there. However, it's my bedroom inside, so please close your eyes when you enter."
Just like when giving the Abyssal Eye control method, Dr. Hill very readily provided the method to escape the Black Prison.
"That's really troublesome you. Can I bring a friend along to leave?"
Lin Ye hadn't forgotten to bring the nun.
"Opening that passage utilized the power of the Abyssal Eye, so only you can pass through there."
Dr. Hill shook her head, rejecting the idea.
"Then are there other methods to leave the Black Prison?"
Lin Ye hadn't anticipated this kind of problem.
"To my knowledge, you can only leave the Black Prison through the prison gate at night. However, that darkness holds many dangerous guards, and that path doesn't lead to the outside world, but deep into the Dreamrealm. That place isn't much safer than the Abyss."
Dr. Hill understood the Black Prison far better than Lin Ye.
"If the friend you mentioned is that nun who likes fake smiles, then I suggest you leave the Black Prison directly. Because she is not a prisoner of the Black Prison. She had already been here for a long time when I arrived."
