Chapter 355: Prison Guard
"Then I'll wait for you to take me out."
The nun said with a smile.
"It shouldn't take too long."
Lin Ye casually found a spot to lie down, and in the blink of an eye, he was already back inside the prison cell.
The cell opposite was empty;
the nun hadn't returned immediately.
Lin Ye stared at the door lock. His current state was quite similar to when he had previously received the mysterious blessing Spirit Supreme and transformed into a spiritual creature.
'Are you there? Come out and help me control the rune concept.'
Lin Ye tried to summon the illusion created by that Mushroom Man.
"Why do you always end up in such strange places?"
A small blue mushroom person suddenly appeared next to Lin Ye's head. "What is this? I've never seen a mushroom like this."
Lin Ye poked the little mushroom person. It burst open, transforming into the nun holding a blue mushroom.
"It's all pretty much the same. Hurry up and finish whatever you need to do. Staying here consumes mental energy every single moment;
I can't hold on here for long."
The nun grabbed Lin Ye's left hand.
"Can't you use my mental energy?"
Lin Ye asked curiously.
"Not here. And the Abyss is right inside your eye right now. Using your mental energy would be very dangerous."
The nun looked disgusted as she avoided Lin Ye's right eye.
"Molding."
With the nun's help, Lin Ye utilized the Molding rune concept to unlock the door.
Lin Ye pulled the nun out of the cell. At the end of the corridor, a prison guard in uniform turned to look at Lin Ye, then quickly walked over.
"Can you handle it?"
Lin Ye could retreat back into the cell at any time. He didn't know how to gauge the strength of spiritual creatures.
"Yes, this one is quite weak. Slash its neck."
The nun said with a fierce expression.
"Cut."
The prison guard's head slid off with a sound, and its body tilted and fell to the ground.
"How should I distinguish the strength of spiritual creatures?"
Lin Ye wanted to examine the prison guard's corpse, but it quickly disappeared, leaving only a set of keys on the ground.
"By feeling? I'm actually not too sure either. You'd better go ask the woman who sent you here."
The nun's wording was very cautious.
"Trash."
Lin Ye picked up the keychain, which held the keys to all the cells on this corridor.
This keychain was useless to Lin Ye. This corridor seemed to only have Lin Ye and the nun as prisoners, and neither of them needed keys to open their doors.
Based on the prison layout information the nun provided, Lin Ye quickly left the cell block area.
He didn't encounter any new prison guards on the way, but some cells did hold prisoners. However, those prisoners were busy with their own affairs and didn't pay much attention to Lin Ye.
"Where are we going?"
The nun was being pulled forward by Lin Ye. She had been consuming mental energy the whole time.
"First, to the Cafeteria to get you something to eat, then go take a look at the prison exit."
Lin Ye walked on the exercise yard outside the cell block area. The sky was overcast with dark clouds. There were five prisoners sitting together on the yard. Noticing Lin Ye, they stood up and walked towards him.
"I've seen similar scenes in prison-themed movies. I never thought I'd experience such a scene in person."
Lin Ye said, somewhat moved.
"Then you should know what happens if you lose."
The nun seemed to think of something happy and suddenly started giggling foolishly.
"Hey, new guy, who brought you in? Didn't they teach you the rules here?"
One of the prisoners questioned.
"No. She probably doesn't care about your rules here, so I don't have any need to care either."
If the nun had mentioned rules related to these prisoners, out of respect, Lin Ye would have listened to them for a bit.
"Collapse."
"Ahhhhhhhhh!"
That prisoner suddenly clutched his head and let out a blood-curdling scream. After a few screams, he disappeared. The collapse rune was unexpectedly effective here.
The remaining four prisoners backed away from Lin Ye in shock. They certainly didn't want to leave this place due to mental collapse.
"The rules were made collectively by many prisoners. If you don't follow them, someone stronger will naturally come for you."
Another prisoner spoke up.
"Then you'd better have him come quickly, otherwise I might already be gone from here."
Lin Ye walked past those prisoners, pulling the nun towards the Cafeteria. As long as he could use rune concepts, these prisoners were nothing to fear.
There wasn't a single person in the Cafeteria. Lin Ye pulled the nun into the Back Kitchen. Various ingredients and cooking utensils were placed here.
"What do you want to eat? I rarely cook for others."
Actually, this didn't really count as 'others' either.
"Egg fried rice. I really like the egg fried rice you make."
The nun said, propping her chin on her hand.
"...I like it too. Too bad there's no leftover rice here."
Lin Ye first cooked the rice, then quickly stir-fried a large plate of egg fried rice in a few moves.
"You added too much egg."
The nun ate the egg fried rice with a spoon. The large plate was soon empty.
"I prefer it with a bit more egg."
Lin Ye also ate a few bites. He was very satisfied with his creation.
"So you're the one not following the rules?"
A group of prisoners barged into the Cafeteria. The leader was a woman with a twisted smile.
"That's right."
Lin Ye grabbed the nun's left hand and stared at those prisoners.
"Wait a minute. Do you know why we made the rules?"
Seeing Lin Ye preparing to act, the woman immediately spoke up.
"Because having too many prisoners outside will attract powerful prison guards?"
It wasn't hard to guess.
"...Since you know, then it's easy to talk..."
The woman's words were cut off halfway by Lin Ye.
"So you gathered these trash to threaten me? If I don't follow the rules, will you come bother me every time?"
Seeing so many people, Lin Ye guessed their purpose.
After all, no matter how many cannon fodder there are, they're still just cannon fodder. Numbers are meaningless to Lin Ye.
"Even if you know, it's useless. When they left their cells, a stronger prison guard was already triggered. If you're willing to follow the rules, no one will bother you next time."
The woman said with a confident expression.
"Berserk."
Lin Ye used the Berserk rune concept on the prisoners behind the woman.
Since a prison guard was coming, he might as well leave more prisoners for the prison guard to deal with.
Berserk isn't Collapse. These people wouldn't leave this place;
instead, they would fall into madness.
The woman let out a scream, clutching her head as she fell to the ground.
"...She was also affected by the rune concept? I was mainly targeting those prisoners. Is she faking it?"
Lin Ye looked at the woman, puzzled. This method of faking an injury seemed rather crude.
"That woman seems to have tampered with the minds of those prisoners, which is why they listen to her. There's some kind of mental connection between them, so the Berserk rune concept affected that woman too."
The nun looked at the woman in amazement. This was the first time she had seen someone so good at courting death.
"No wonder those trash could get in;
they were brought in."
A prison guard who looked very tough appeared at the Cafeteria entrance. Lin Ye pulled the nun and left the Cafeteria through the Back Kitchen window.
