Chapter 334: Voluntary Blood Donation
A group of mid-tier savages wearing leather clothes and sporting fangs charged at Lin Ye. They brandished their bone weapons, letting out savage roars.
'What the hell are all these things?'
Lin Ye used the Compressed Spiritual Energy Blade to backstab the charging savages. However, the blade only penetrated a short distance into their bodies before shattering.
As the savages closed in, they hurled bone spears at Lin Ye with tremendous force. The power of these spears was absurdly high;
they could directly pierce through Lin Ye's spiritual energy shield, posing a greater danger than those sniper rifle bullets.
Lin Ye could only rely on prediction and his legs to dodge the spears, then counterattack with Dark Dawn.
Boom boom boom boom boom!
Each bullet blew apart a savage's head. The defensive method these savages possessed seemed only effective against energy attacks and couldn't defend against physical attacks carrying energy.
To conserve bullets, Lin Ye took out the Dragon Fishing Rod to deal with the remaining savages. Each swing of the rod hooked a savage's heart.
It didn't take long for him to kill off all the remaining savages.
Lin Ye collected the savages' bone weapons, then sucked their blood into the Blood Sphere before heading towards the soldier base not far away. At that moment, some stitched-together creatures composed of numerous human organs were attacking the base.
The soldiers used standard-issue large-caliber firearms and metal greatswords to hack down the stitched creatures that had breached the base. Their movements were concise and crisp, and they cooperated seamlessly.
Lin Ye glanced at the fishing rod in his hand. He wasn't entirely sure if he should still go and join those soldiers, as his attack methods were completely different from theirs.
If those people considered him an enemy, it would be troublesome. He couldn't possibly fight both sides simultaneously.
But thinking back to the soldier who had passed by him earlier, he felt it shouldn't be a problem. That soldier had only glanced at him then and hadn't attacked him.
Moreover, the system giving him this uniform definitely had a reason.
Lin Ye approached the base. The soldiers inside didn't attack him or show any excessive reaction. They were like machines, dismembering the stitched creatures that had broken into the base.
Some stitched creatures pounced at Lin Ye, only to have their vital points pierced by Lin Ye's Compressed Spiritual Energy Blade. Even seeing Lin Ye take action, those soldiers showed no reaction, as if wearing that military uniform made him one of their own.
Seeing this, Lin Ye stopped hesitating. He integrated into the team, using blood control to kill nearby stitched creatures. He would extract the blood from within stitched creatures wounded by the soldiers and merge it into the Blood Sphere.
The stitched creatures hid their vital points in the most concealed locations. As long as those points weren't touched, they could freely swap body parts and wouldn't be injured at all.
Lin Ye's blood extraction could directly destroy their bodies and effectively prevent them from reusing body parts.
With Lin Ye's help, the soldiers quickly dealt with the stitched creatures that had invaded the base. They didn't pursue the fleeing ones but instead set up defenses and rested within the base.
Up until now, Lin Ye hadn't heard any of these people utter a single word.
'Don't these people need to talk? Telepathy? Mental energy communication? Then wouldn't I be pretty awkward here?'
Lin Ye collected some decent spiritual energy materials. Just as he was considering whether to speak first, a soldier approached Lin Ye and handed him a map.
It was a complex warzone map with many locations marked on it.
The soldier pointed at a red circle located at the edge of the map. There was an enemy structure there.
"You want me to deal with this enemy base?"
Although Lin Ye wanted to follow local customs and remain silent like the other soldiers, such important matters still needed confirmation. It would be bad if, in their perception, the red circle meant allies.
The soldier didn't speak, only nodded.
"Does nodding mean yes or no?"
Lin Ye confirmed again.
The soldier took out a pistol and fired a shot at the map. Now the red mark was gone.
"Alright, this is the first time I've encountered allies who can't speak."
Lin Ye left the base and moved towards the marked direction. He had already memorized the entire map and all its markings. The red circle base wasn't far from Lin Ye, and he could use this operation to determine the map's scale.
Before long, Lin Ye found the enemy base. It was a savage camp. Outside the camp hung some bone decorations and beast flags resembling totems.
'No wonder I ran into several savage squads on the way. So this is a savage camp.'
Lin Ye lay on the grass, inching closer to the savage camp. He needed to first sense the situation inside the camp before considering how to deal with this enemy base.
While approaching the camp, Lin Ye discovered many insidious, deadly traps. If he weren't a trap expert, he might have died on the way to the camp.
Bypassing one deadly trap after another, Lin Ye sensed the camp's internal structure. A strange object appeared within his perception.
'What's that? It looks a bit like the portal I sensed before?'
At that moment, Lin Ye sensed a squad of savages walking out of that thing.
'It really is a portal... So these monsters were all teleported here. Do I have to close these portals to end this war?'
Lin Ye had never learned how to close a portal.
'Forget it, I'll clear out the savages inside first and think about other things later.'
Lin Ye continued approaching the savage camp. Then, some beasts lying around the camp climbed up from the ground, emitting fierce cries. They had smelled blood.
'Sigh, these savages really counter me.'
Boom!
Lin Ye drew Dark Dawn and blew apart a beast that had leaped out of the camp. These beasts looked somewhat similar to wild dogs, only much fiercer.
Over a dozen beasts roared as they charged out of the camp, pouncing at Lin Ye. This alerted the savages inside the camp.
Lin Ye stood his ground without moving. The Blood Sphere and spiritual energy compressed in his hand, and various runes appeared on the surface of the Blood Sphere.
When the fastest beast got close to Lin Ye, thick blood spikes grew from within the Blood Sphere, instantly piercing through all the approaching beasts. Withered corpses fell to the ground one after another, and the Blood Sphere beside Lin Ye gained a bit more luster.
A group of savages appeared on one side of the camp. They hurled their long spears at Lin Ye.
Lin Ye had already predicted their actions. As they threw their spears, Lin Ye suddenly charged towards the camp. With the boost from spiritual energy and speed runes, those spears could only bite the dust behind him.
Thick blood spikes grew from the Blood Sphere, stabbing at nearby savages. These savages were much harder to kill than the beasts;
even when pierced by blood spikes, they could pull them out and continue fighting.
Lin Ye certainly wouldn't just stand by and watch. He extracted the blood from within the savages through their wounds, merging it into the Blood Sphere. A certain power within the savages' bodies resisted Lin Ye's blood extraction, but the savages close to Lin Ye still had their blood drained completely, turning into withered corpses.
