Chapter 725: Kai vs Mutants (Part 3)
As several more vines converged in towards me, I shot straight towards the Fungal King, putting on a burst of speed as I closed in and zipped into its body, the energy of Ravage carving through its large mushroom body.
I swerved and veered around through the inside of its body, carving tunnels inside it...but it was actively repairing the damage as I flew around, the parts of its body behind me closing up almost immediately after I carved it out.
I then flew straight up, propelling myself with jets of Negative Energy, before bursting out of the top of its head. Ira then began unleashing a flurry of Ether blasts as I simultaneously rained down a barrage of Negative Energy blasts.
Ira extended dozens of wooden vines towards it, starting to wrap them around the Fungal King’s body to try and restrain it in place. But the Fungal King was quick to rip them off with its own vines, freeing itself and snapping the vines towards Ira with immense force.
He quickly crossed his arms in front of himself defensively, letting out a grunt as the vines slammed into him with immense force, launching him back and sending him hurtling through the air at a breakneck speed.
Hm...how about Petrification?
Gula, come.
I glanced at the path Ira had cleared as Gula came rapidly slithering this way, weaving through the space as several vines whipped towards her as she began to close in. A deep green glow appeared over her eyes as she charged up, before firing out her petrifying beams at the Fungal King.
The Mutant intercepted her beams with some of its vines, before using the surrounding vines to tear them off as they began to turn to stone. I shot towards Gula, receding the energy of Ravage swirling around my hands, before grabbing her shoulders and lifting her into the air.
I carefully extended the energy of Ravage over her body as several vines shot towards us, converging rapidly. As the vines got consumed and I flew Gula closer to the Fungal King, she unleashed a rapid blast of petrifying energy, hitting the creature’s head.
As the petrification began to spread out across that spot, several vines extended out around it and tore off the affected area rapidly. I grimaced as I then began flying all around the Fungal King, weaving around its massive body as Gula hit it with petrifying beams all over.
But it was no use, the Fungal King’s vines tearing off the petrified spots well before they could spread too far. As my time limit with Ravage: Cloak began to run out, I swiftly retreated, getting some distance away from the Fungal King, several vines chasing after me.
I swooped down as I got out of the reach of the vines, which began to withdraw back towards the Fungal King as I descended and set Gula back down on the ground.
"<Ssssorry, my King. My ssssincccceresssst apologiessss for dissssapointing you>," She remarked remorsefully.
"You have no reason to apologize, Gula. I’ll take it from here."
"<But how...>?"
"I have one more option to try. You and the others get some distance, I’m going to need some room for this."
"<Undersssstood, my King. I wishshsh you the besssst of luck>," She replied, bowing her head as she slithered back, before I turned my gaze back towards the Fungal King, the creature forming more and more vines around itself.
I paused for a moment, relaxing my body as I let out a slow exhale, before zipping forward with a rapid flap of my wings, triggering bursts of Negative Energy from the soles of my feet to launch myself through the air.
I zipped around and weaved through the air as dozens of vines shot towards me, swerving across the air as they chased after me. As a vine began to close in and snare my ankles, I blasted it to pieces with a burst of Negative Energy from my foot, before whipping my tail across as I fired out a piercing beam of Negative Energy, slicing several of the vines apart.
I steadily moved closer and closer towards the body of the Fungal King as the vines regenerated and continued to chase after me, just barely staying out of their reach as I slowly but surely closed the distance.
As I shot up above the top of the Fungal King, I swooped down rapidly, landing on its head, a few hundred vines surrounding me and zipping in, converging in on me from every direction.
"Now...<Void>," I chanted, generating a massive black hole.
The vines got pulled into it, the powerful gravitational force drawing them in before the head of the Fungal King began to get dragged towards it as I expanded the dark mass of gravitational energy.
More vines extended out and shot towards me as the black hole swallowed up the Fungal King’s head, steadily drawing in the rest of its body, along with the extra vines. I steadily descended and lowered the black hole, the top half of the Fungal King disappeared into it with the rest of its body getting pulled in bit by bit.
The surrounding trees and dirt came flying in with immense force, disappearing into the black hole as it generated tremendously powerful gusts of wind, the immense pulling force drawing in the entire surrounding area.
As I lowered the black hole towards the base of the Fungal King, I ripped its roots out of the dirt, vines extending out and trying to tether it to the ground, but it was no use, as the ground promptly got dragged into the black hole too.
I then spotted a small spherical object attached to one of the roots as I got close to fully uprooting the creature, before it disappeared into the black hole along with the rest of the roots, leaving no trace of the Fungal King in sight.
I waited a few more seconds, before deactivating Void and disappearing the black hole in the blink of an eye, a massive shockwave exploding out as the force exerted by my Skill abruptly vanished.
The forest was almost completely gone, most of the trees having been pulled into the black hole, and the few that weren’t had been uprooted, laying sprawled across the ground, which was completely torn apart.
<You couldn’t have done that from the start?>
I’ve never used Void on such a large scale before, I’ve only ever used it in short bursts or in much smaller sizes, so it didn’t cross my mind initially. I suppose I’ve been underutilizing it, given that it’s one of the most powerful abilities in my arsenal.
Now, then...the Quest is complete, so I should head back and report it. Hm...so, this is what a Catastrophe Level Threat can do. But Fungal Kings are considered one of the weakest Catastrophe Level Threat, the main problem with them is how difficult they are to kill.
And according to the Union, this Fungal King hadn’t yet reached its full size. As troublesome as this creature was, it isn’t even close to the greatest threats in the world at present. A rather unpleasant thought.
