Chapter 615: Spiritual Magic
"Okay, with that settled, tell us more about Spiritual Magic," Aria prompted them, as I let go of the Mage, who collapsed onto his knees and coughed hoarsely.
"It’s quite simple, everyone is capable of using Spiritual Magic. We use a Ritual Scroll called the Spirit Link Ritual. It requires a drop of the individual’s blood and some of their Mana as a catalyst to activate, it then sends a signal to the Spirit Realm, and a compatible Spirit responds.
The Spirit is then summoned and forms a link with the Summoner. Once the link is formed, the Spirit resides within the Summoner, and only returns to the Spirit Realm after the Summoner dies, there is no other way to break the link.
Every individual is capable of forming links with at least one Spirit, and the upper limit is five, there has never been a case of anyone forming links with more than five Spirits. I assumed you were already using Spiritual Magic, but it seems to be something different," Remarked the Knight, as he glanced at the Apostles.
Hm, are they similar to the Spirits of this world in some way?
<I’ll have some useful info to share soon>
<I just need a bit more time to finish my analysis of this world>
Cool, keep at it, let me know once you’re done.
"What about the effects of Spiritual Magic? How do you use a Spirit after forming a link with one?" I inquired curiously.
"Most people have their Spirits fight alongside them or on their behalf. But some are capable of an ability called Spirit Fusion, which allows them to merge with their Spirits for a short period of time.
During that time, they gain the abilities of the Spirit, display some physical features of the Spirit, and have their own power boosted significantly. Spirit Fusion requires an innate aptitude, as well as compatibility between the user and their Spirit."
Hm, interesting, I wonder if we’ll be able to use Spiritual Magic? While the way this world’s Magic works is a lot different, it might not be totally incompatible with our own Magic.
For one this, the Mana of this world seems to be quite similar to ours, otherwise we’d at least struggle to cast our Magic here. But we haven’t had any issues with that so far.
"Okay, think that about answers everything I want to know. Got any more questions for them, Aria?" I asked her.
"Hm...yeah, just one more. The scroll you used to summon us, do you have it on you?" She inquired as she glanced at the Mage.
Oh, good thinking. Ai might be able to reverse-engineer it or something.
"Yes, I do...but it’s only one of the eight such scrolls. A single scroll wasn’t enough, the ritual requires an octogram formation. All eight scrolls are identical," He informed us.
Luxuria reached into his robe and pulled out a scroll, before approaching and handing it to me.
Ai, once you’re done with your current analysis, analyze this too.
<Got it>
<My ongoing analysis should be complete soon>
Nice, that’s good to hear.
"By the way, where can we get the Spirit Link Ritual Scrolls?" I asked them.
"You can find them at any scroll shop, they’re easy to come by," Answered the Mage sullenly.
"So, uh...if you have no further questions for us, could you let us go?" Spoke up the Knight nervously.
"Yeah, alright. But tell anyone anything about us and I’ll hunt all of you down, along with everyone you love. Got it?" I warned them.
"You haven’t told us anything about you, so we couldn’t say anything even if we wanted to," Responded the Noble with a grimace.
"True. Alright, then...<Command: Knock Yourselves Out>," I chanted, the three of them swinging their heads down in unison, passing out as their slammed their heads against the floor.
Hm, we’re probably going to need some money, let’s see here...ah, here we go!
I pulled out a pouch from the Noble’s coat, which was full of coins...hm, no idea how much these are worth, but I’m willing to bet this is a decent amount.
And if it isn’t, well...I can just make a ton of copies through Treasury.
I then summoned Invidia and had him drag the unconscious trio out of the Pocket Dimension after turning invisible, instructing him to toss them in a different alley away from this one.
The location in which we enter the Pocket Dimension is also where we exit out of, we can’t just open an exit wherever.
Though, if Aria and I enter from two different locations, we can exit out into either of those two locations.
It wasn’t too long before Invidia returned. I closed the Pocket Dimension and took a seat, pondering my next move.
"<Emerge, Apostle of Greed: Avaritia>," I chanted, before addressing her as she appeared before me, "I’ve got a job for you, Avaritia. You too, Invidia. I want you guys to track down the others while keeping a low profile. And while you’re at it, get us some local clothes. We’re going to need to blend in. Also, try to get a general idea of the currency here, how much these coins are worth. Oh, and if you can, get some of those Spirit Link Ritual Scrolls too."
"<Understood, Master, this actually sounds like fun...a whole new world, I’m quite curious to see how different it is>," Replied Avaritia, an intrigued gleam in her eyes.
"<Won’t let ya down, Boss>," Added Invidia, before grabbing Avaritia’s arm.
"<Hm? What are you doing>?"
"<If I want to share the effect of my Stealth Skill, I need to be making direct physical contact>," He explained.
"<I see. Hm, in that case, get on my back, I’ll carry you. Otherwise, we’ll have to make an effort to match each other’s pace, and there’s a greater chance that you could lose your grasp over me if, say, someone bumps into you or something>."
"<Yeah, guess you make a good point there. Alright then, up I go>," Responded Invidia, as he hopped onto her back, before adding, "<Wow, you’re so soft and fluffy>."
"<Thank you. Alright, Master, we’re off>."
"Good luck, you two," I nodded, opening the Pocket Dimension to let them out, before chanting as I closed the portal, "Now, then, <Emerge, Sinner’s Aide: Ai>."
