Chapter 611: Paying Respects (Part 4)

"Damn...what a day, guys, this was an absolute blast," Sighed Jaden, laying down and staring up with a smile.

"Yeah, I had a lot of fun too," Nodded Ciel in agreement, stretching her arms out.

It was almost 6 PM now, we’d been here for nearly six hours at this point.

After finishing the food, we smoked, drank and chatted, played some games too, and we got into the snacks after a few hours, once we’d digested our heavy lunch a bit.

We finished all the snacks, along with the alcohol and weed, about half an hour ago, we were all pretty damn stoned and wasted.

We’re getting ready to head back soon, so we sobered ourselves up a fair bit, leaving just enough intoxication to keep a nice buzz going.

We were planning on packing up and heading back in about fifteen to twenty minutes or so, it won’t be much longer now before we take our leave.

"Don’t think I’ll need any dinner tonight. I’m stuffed to the absolute brim," Remarked Jaden, as he picked up a water bottle with one of his whips and carried it over towards him as he sat up.

"Same here, another bite and it’ll all come back out. Actually, any sudden movements might trigger it too," Muttered Cleo, her face a bit pale.

She’s the smallest of the five of us, which probably also means that she has the smallest stomach, but she ate and drank just as much, if not more, as the rest of us did.

"Well, if there was ever an occasion to over-indulge, I’d say this was it," I replied with a wry smile.

"Plus, we have no real reason to be reserved in general. Our regeneration keeps us in peak condition, it’d be next to impossible for us to get out of shape or gain weight," Pointed out Aria.

"Yeah, that’s true," Nodded Cleo thoughtfully.

The opposite would be a problem though, malnutrition and dehydration can make us weaker, though we’ll quickly bounce back to our physical peak once we do get some food and water.

"I mean, I know that goes for you three, but it’s not quite the same for us. Our healing factors aren’t in the same league as your regeneration, so we have to be more conscious of our health," Ciel sighed wistfully.

"That said, our healing factors are still good enough to keep us in peak condition for a while, we can stay fit a lot more easier than anyone except you three, we just need some occasional training and exercise. In short, we can maintain top form so long as we don’t get too neglectful and lazy," Explained Jaden in response.

"Yeah, and unlike you guys, we aren’t immortal. We’ll age a hell of a lot slower than other people, but we’ll still age," Added Ciel.

"I’m going to age too, I’m not immortal," Chimed in Cleo.

"Oh, yeah, they mentioned that at the hospital after we all woke up. You’re going to have a longer lifespan than the two of us will, though, right?" Jaden asked her.

"Yeah, it was estimated that I’ll live somewhere between six to seven hundred years," She nodded in response.

"And you two were told you’d live to about five hundred, right?" Inquired Aria, as she glanced at the other two.

"Yup, so that’s four hundred and sixty-six years to go for me," Replied Ciel with a smile.

"And four hundred and seventy-three for me," Grinned Jaden.

"Huh? Wait...you’re thirty-four? I just assumed you were in your twenties," Remarked Cleo, staring at Ciel in surprise.

Wow, that makes her older than my mental age...probably shouldn’t say that out loud though.

"Yeah, I’ve always looked young for my age, and since I’m barely going to age for the foreseeable future, that isn’t going to change," She responded wryly.

"Guess we’ll all look the same for a while. And you two will look this way forever," Mused Jaden, glancing at Aria and I.

"I mean, we can change up our hairstyles and stuff, at least," I pointed out with a smile.

"Are you guys really planning on living forever? Like, what if there’s an apocalypse or something in the distant future?" Cleo asked us.

"We have our own dimension, remember? So, if the world goes to shit, we can just live out our days in there. And if we get sick of living a few millennia down the line or whatever, we can just destroy our Cores and end it," I replied with a shrug.

"That’s kinda bleak, but at least it’s not something you have to worry about anytime soon," Responded Ciel thoughtfully.

"Yeah, we’ll cross that bridge when we get to it. And on that note, I think it’s time we wrap things up, it’s starting to get pretty dark," I remarked, as I stretched my arms up.

"Sure, sounds good."

"Same, let’s get going. This was a lot of fun, guys."

"Agreed. Let’s meet up again soon, everyone, we’re going to be stuck with each other for the next five hundred years, so we might as well make the most of it."

We all got up and began packing everything away, before I folded up the blanket and put it into Treasury.

"Wait, guys, before we go...what do you say we cap this off with a bang?" Suggested Ciel, forming a ball of explosive energy with a smile.

"Sure, but, uh...make sure it blows up in the middle of the air, don’t hit the dome," I replied warily.

"Don’t worry, I’ve got this. Now...BOOM!!!" She exclaimed, the explosive energy expanding sharply into a large sphere before she launched it straight up into the air.

The sphere shot up with a bright red glow, before erupting with a deafening bang several meters above us, an intense shockwave bursting out and triggering powerful gusts of wind, our hair fluttering as it hit us.

"Nice, that was-...," Began Aria.

"Okay, one more!" Grinned Ciel, starting to charge up another one.

"Come on, don’t-...hm?" I frowned, as I spotted a sudden shimmer around the space where we’d been sitting.

What the...?

My eyes widened before I instinctively stepped back as the shimmer intensified, cracks appearing in the space around that spot, spreading rapidly as an ominous wave of energy burst out, my blood running cold...
