Chapter 604: The Apostles’ Reward (Part 2)
"<Y-Yes...yes, yes, yes, YES, YES!!! F-Finally, you’re touching me again, Daddy>!" Moaned Luxuria ecstatically.
"Keep talking like that and I’ll never do it again," I sighed in exasperation.
"<Oh, sorry, Daddy, couldn’t help myself. I just haven’t felt this turned on in ages>!"
From just headpats?
"Alright, that should be enough. I should go check on the others, anyway," I remarked, a disappointed look appearing on her face as I took my hand off.
"<Fine, I guess I’ll have to be satisfied with this much for now>," She sighed, as she headed back to the rec room.
Okay, let’s see, Acedia and Ira are in Aria’s place, I think Acedia is listening to music in her guest room, and Ira wanted to binge an action anime. As for Invidia, he went out to a club with some of his old friends. Oh, and Superbia decided to go hang out at the Union.
I glanced at Avaritia as I began to head for the front door, her eyes glued to her screen. I paused as I passed by the training room, opening the door slightly and peeking in. Woah...Gula’s already eaten her way through about half the food I laid out, where does she even fit all of it?
I gave her enough food for about ten people at the very least, and it doesn’t look like she’s slowing down at all.
I quietly shut the door before heading for the front door and stepping out, closing it behind me as I headed for Aria’s door, unlocking and opening it before stepping inside.
Ira was laying on one of her couches, a bright gleam in his eyes as he watched a fight scene intently, not even noticing me. I quietly walked past him, making sure not to interrupt his fun, before approaching the guest room door, opening it and poking my head in.
Acedia was on the bed, a relaxed look on his face. He had earphones plugged in, his head bobbing slightly as he hummed, before reaching for the bedside table, a lit joint burning away in an ashtray. He’d asked me for a pretty sizeable pile of joints when I summoned him, looks like he just wanted to get high and chill with some music.
Based on the rhythm of his head bobbing, he’s listening to slow, calming music...well, I suppose that’s a bit redundant, those kind of songs are the only ones he listens to.
He doesn’t like upbeat or loud music, he prefers more depressing songs. According to him, he just likes the vibes of those songs, the lyrics don’t actually matter to him.
Huh, looks like he’s already finished most of the joints, he’s only got two left, not counting the one he’s currently smoking.
Hm...hey, Ai, would it be possible to give the Apostles access to the occupied slots of Treasury, to let them make copies of the stuff they want?
They each have access to one slot for their personal use, but that’s the limit of their access to Treasury at the moment.
<Yeah, I can do that, and I can make it so that they can only access the occupied slots to make copies of the contents>
<That way, they won’t be able to accidentally modify or delete the contents>
Cool, sounds good. I’ll let them know about it later, I shouldn’t interrupt their fun right now. By the way, you sure you don’t want me to summon you too?
<It’s fine>
<I don’t dislike being in my physical form, but honestly, I feel a lot more comfortable in here>
Well, alright, if you’re sure. But if you feel like stretching your legs at all, just let me know.
<Sure, will do>
Cool.
Hm, wonder what Invidia’s upto out there? Hope he isn’t causing any trouble...

Point-of-View: Invidia

"<Woo! Yeah, chug>!" I exclaimed with a grin, as one of my friends guzzled down a large mug of beer.
"Hell, yeah! Let’s get wasted and celebrate our survival to the fullest!"
"Yeah, that’s what I’m talking about!"
"<Ahh, this is the best! And what makes it sweeter is the fact that I really feel like I’ve earned this. I was a crucial part of the strategy to take down the Demon Lord, after all>," I grinned smugly, as I refilled my mug and took a deep gulp.
"Yeah, you mentioned that already. A lot," Responded one of my friends with a wry smile.
"Still, gotta say, think you’ve really changed for the better, dude, ever since you got all glowy. You’re for sure way less of a dick these days."
"<Heh, yeah, can’t deny that. And, for the record, I definitely prefer being undead over being alive. I feel so much more free when I fight, I can be as reckless as I want with minimal consequences>," I remarked with a chuckle, before adding, "<Oh, and there’s also the fact that I can’t age, or even get out of shape. I’ll be at my absolute peak forever>!"
"Yeah, that’s pretty dope. Don’t suppose we can get in on this whole undead Apostle thing?"
"Yeah, I want a cool, new, edgy Latin name too!"
"<Sorry to disappoint, guys, but the Boss is at capacity with the Apostles, we won’t be getting any new additions>," I informed them with an apologetic smile.
"Ah, that sucks."
"I guess it’s maybe for the best. We ain’t Hunters like you were, after all, and I’m not particularly keen on fighting Monsters."
"Well, I mean, the Monsters are gone for good now, aren’t they?"
"Woah, careful, dude, you’re gonna jinx us."
"<Yeah, don’t do that. Fighting is fun and all, but after the Final Dungeon, I’m good to take a nice, long break from combat. So, I’m really hoping this peace lasts for a while>," I sighed wistfully.
The Boss had to push himself beyond his limit to kill the Demon Lord, and even with the help of all the other X-Aces, not to mention the X-Ace level Apostles, he barely pulled it off.
He’s made no secret of wanting downtime for the foreseeable future, and I feel the same way. Here’s hoping things stay chill for some time...
