"So what if your brother killed someone? He was no one. Why are you acting like his life is more important than your brother’s?" my mother screamed at me as I stood in front of her, tearing up.

My brother had just killed my best friend, and my mother did not seem to care.

I had realized my brother was a danger to everyone, but she would not see it.

Robin was just a fourteen-year-old like me.

He had a father who would be waiting for him at home, but he was never going to come back.

I started to cry hysterically in front of my mother.

"Justice should be served," I said.

As soon as I said that, she smacked me hard against my chest once again, and I swallowed.

"This is why you will never win in life, because you’re a weak, pathetic woman who tries to be so good that she does not understand there is a thing called loyalty. You need to stay loyal to your brother. Forget about that Robin. We will pay his father. He will never have to work again. But stop talking about justice. Your brother did not do anything wrong. Any brother would have killed someone if they had seen that someone come to see their sister," my mother said.

I began to grunt at her.

Instead of choosing what was right, she was now accusing Robin of his own murder.

"Your son did not kill him to protect me or anything. He killed him because he’s a monster. That is what he does," I screamed.

As she spoke, I looked at her and then up, as if to challenge the moon goddess.

Everything happened so quickly, but I was back home.

Lady Vivian had begged me nonstop when she came to see me in prison.

I knew she had wronged me, but she had mostly been influenced.

Of course, I did not forgive her entirely, but the bigger problem was Lara.

As for Vivian, she just hated me, but Lara created situations that made others hate me and even put me in prison.

Zoe had become unsteady in herself.

As for Lara, she was the one who planned everything.

"My mother pressured me. She wanted a child. You know that, right?" Markus continued, trying to explain himself.

Then he began piling up more lies.

Zoe chuckled softly and shook her head.

"You were not ready to have a child with me. For a very long time, I thought something was wrong with me." Zoe let out a sarcastic laugh.

"But the moment I told you I wanted to try another doctor and run some tests, you became scared. And from that moment, I had a feeling you had something to do with my previous results."

She spoke in a calm and confident tone.

It seemed that in the past few weeks she had convinced herself that he was not the right man for her.

So she was no longer crying for him. And Markus seemed to notice the change.

"I made a huge mistake. I was an asshole. I thought you were mine and that I did not have to try too hard."

He tried to soften his words again, reaching for her.

But the moment she slapped his hand away, he realized this was real.

He had pushed her so far that she was no longer interested in him.

"The car is here," Walkin announced loudly, his hands clasped in front of him.

Markus looked at him, then turned back to Zoe.

"Zoe, please do not do this to me," he begged.

Markus tried to grab her hands, but she pulled away.

Then she did what she should have done a long time ago.

She slapped him.

She slapped him again and again, and he took it like a champ.

He did not complain, and he did not stop her.

After a while, Kash had to step in and hold her back because she finally broke down.

"I wasted my life with you, you fucking asshole," she hissed at him.

"I’m really sorry. I’m telling you I’m sorry. You can hit me all you want. You can hit me nonstop, but please don’t leave me."

Markus began begging while Kash held Zoe back as she tried to attack him again.

"You seriously want to apologize to her now? You fucking asshole. She is not the only one you tried to play. To hide your own disgusting acts, you dragged Iris into deep distress too."

Walkin stepped forward and slapped him hard.

I noticed Markus glance at Zoe, as if reminding her that a stranger was now hitting him.

But she had every right to ignore his pleas.

Then he turned to me.

Markus looked at me and started to cry.

"I’m really, really sorry. I will never make that mistake again. Please tell her to let me stay here. Please ask her to give me a chance."

He had the nerve to beg in front of me.

I shook my head in disbelief and gestured for Walkin to take him away.

"Take him. Throw him into prison," I ordered, watching his eyes widen in shock.

Did he seriously think I would take his request and convince Zoe to give this asshole a chance?

"No. Why? Why prison? I’m saying I’m sorry," Markus cried, even louder this time.

"I did not plan to play the Alpha King or get his mate kicked out. That was all stupid. Lara threatened me. She scared me. Please."

But nobody cared anymore.

Anyone who crossed the Alpha King ended up in prison for a very long time.

Zoe freed herself from Kash’s arms and rushed inside to be alone.

My children quickly followed after her.

I knew they were the only ones who could calm her down.

At the same time, Markus caused another scene.

He began fighting the arrest.

He rushed into the mansion and locked himself inside the guest room bathroom.

We all walked back into the mansion and sat in the living room, waiting for him to come out.

The warriors tried to convince him to open the door, but he refused.

She sat down with us and gave a small nod to her brother.

He understood that he could drag Markus out.

She would not object.

"Okay, that is enough," Kash grunted.

He walked to the door and kicked it down.

The door broke open so quickly that we were all surprised.

Kash stepped inside and dragged Markus out.

It looked like he had punched him a few times.

Markus was bleeding from several places.

Kash grabbed him by the neck and dragged him like a stray dog.

We stayed inside while Kash dealt with him.

He threw Markus into the police car.

Markus was going away for a long time.

For assaulting me in the cabin and for manipulating the Alpha King and his sister.

Once everything was over, we sat together in the living room in silence.

"Why wasn’t Lara arrested?" Zoe asked softly, breaking the silence.

Kash sat beside me with his arm wrapped around my shoulder, pulling me closer.

Walkin stood behind Zoe’s couch, watching her.

His eyes showed that he wanted to comfort her.

I had seen the way he looked at her.

He definitely carried hidden feelings for her.

"Because she has committed bigger crimes that she will be punished for," Kash said hoarsely.
