Chapter 191 - 190: Staying at the frozen land 4
Ryzel planned to keep researching about the things related to the sea creatures that they saw, and it might take him a few days to have some basic understanding of it.
And to research more things about it, he would probably have to devote more time to it than just a few days.
So, most of the time he also had to use the samples that they got. He couldn’t just let Layton accompany him every time he would use those samples, as it would just waste Layton’s time.
Layton also had to be busy with some things, so he couldn’t just delay him because of what he was doing, as it isn’t cost-effective at all.
He had also told Layton before when he was researching some poisonous plants, but Layton still stayed to watch over him whenever he was researching some poisonous plants.
But at that time Layton wasn’t busy and was even helping in some of his research, as he didn’t have anything to do, so Ryzel just let Layton watch over him without saying anything.
However, this time, they had already seen a lot and they even found a source of energy, so Ryzel knew that Layton also had some things to be busy with, especially in the next few days.
Layton had just nodded to what he said, but Ryzel knew that he would probably still come over to watch him from the side, so he also had to take note to remind him later if he continued staying beside him despite having something to do on his own. So, after seeing Layton nod in agreement, he didn’t say anything further.
After eating the dishes that Layton had prepared, Ryzel immediately began preparing to start his research.
He properly wore his protective clothes and even made sure that a layer of his protective cover was turned on before starting his research with Layton watching at the side.
Ryzel started running his experiment early in the morning and he only managed to finish the basic analysis of the liquid that they got in one of the islands from some of the sea creatures after lunch.
He hadn’t even gotten an in-depth analysis, but just from the result of trying it out on some plant and animal parts, it became even more obvious how poisonous it was.
The plant parts and animal parts were being corroded over time. It’s even more obvious when looking at them closer.
From the image that was magnified many times over, it was more observable how the plant and animal cells were dying.
Aside from that, he also slowly analyzed all the components of the poisonous substance to get a basic understanding of it.
In the evening, he finally got a better understanding of it based on his trials and data that he had managed to collect.
"This liquid from those sea creatures is really poisonous to those that were living on land, as they could kill plants and animals with the poison they have.
However, its effect on water-based plants and animals seemed to be less," Ryzel answered after Layton asked him about his findings after they finished having their dinner.
He had been focused on his research again and Layton had to ask him to pause his research again to have their dinner already.
"How long does it take before it could truly affect the plants and animals that would kill them?"
"It would still depend on the quantity of the liquid that they absorbed; if they were thoroughly covered with the liquid, they would probably die within the day.
The liquid is slowly corroding everything around it, so it would take longer for it to affect the other living things in proportion to their size and the amount of the liquid that they had absorbed."
"I see. You also mentioned that they weren’t that effective on water-based living things. Why?"
"I’m still studying it. But it seems that the liquid doesn’t work on water because the water on the lands where we got the liquid doesn’t have any poisonous substance from the liquid that we got; it’s also the same on the seawater around those lands. It’s unlike the land area, which seemed to retain the poisonous substance for a longer period of time."
They had collected different samples of some things after he said that he would study those things, which includes the land and water around those areas.
He had also run a data analysis on the land and water that they had collected in different areas, and he hadn’t found the traces of poisonous substances in those waters at all.
He still had some traces of the liquid on some water that they had collected, but those traces weren’t poisonous any longer, unlike those that had remained on land.
"Have you found the reason behind it?"
"Not yet. I’m still going to research it. I haven’t finished researching the specific substance in the liquid that causes the poisonous reaction because there’s some content that wasn’t in the database and marked as unknown.
It seemed that it’s something unique to those sea creatures here, as they weren’t found in our database yet.
After I finish studying it, I will start researching the reason why there are no traces of poisonous substances on the water any longer."
He had only started researching for a day, so he only found some basic things about the liquid that they got.
He still needed to continue studying it before he came up with a good result.
If the connection with the Federation is still working, then he could probably speed up his research, and he could do more for just a day because they could use a lot of help from the AI in his lab.
Storm is still working, unfortunately; Storm was programmed as a combat mech and supports Treyton in battle, so its focus isn’t like those AIs in their labs that were structured to help in making the progress of research faster.
