Rose Blumen ~ Exogignesthai

534. Living again, 2

(Rose)

The time of Spring for Eldorado was very short but very intense.

Days have now passed.

We’re making our way to the edge of the world together.

My sister and us, we quietly hike and climb our way ahead and forward. She often helps me, for she was made in this world.

And at times, I help her and it’ my hands that pull her up; for I live well in it too.

I have a shy smile. The wind brushes my stray hair around. Nightmare is expressionless at first as I hold her hand, keeping her from falling from that edge she just slipped from.

Then she gives me one of the warmest smiles I’ve ever seen in my life, while still dangling there above the void. I pull her up and help her climbing back to our level.

I...

I feel a little overwhelmed.

The landscape around us is the largest of paintings. It’s too big, too wide.

Nightmare is smiling as if she’d always been there and human now. Blume peacefully flows through my heart, my veins and my mind.

I even like how my strands of hair have turned mostly grey now...

I...

It’s hard to voice out, so for now, I just let my melancholic smile shine to them.

The wings of them draw the ropes for us to climb on the next levels. To the next giant claws in the air. We climb on them like ants between trees. The space and landscapes are so immense, but magnificent.

Altitude doesn’t get to me. Actually, it’s funny to see Nightmare less able than me against the thinner air of altitude.

R – I feel like I can really breathe fully on the contrary, like nowhere else.

N – I feel sick and my heart is panicking.

I smile and grab her hand. I noticed the dark tans on my hands has become gradually lighter over time. Not hers though. She’ll remain black, and I’ll return to chalk slowly.

We could still catch a few mice to roast and eat on the level below, but now it’s barren. The oily grass is reduced to its minimal and shortest attempts to grow.

It’s too cold up there. Even for us it becomes hard.

But we’re getting close to the absolute summit of this wondrous sculpture of Eldorado.

The land and its numerous green claws below us are shining at night. They look a little prismatic during the days, now that we’re above most of the scattering air heights. When we take a break to catch our breath or drink, we can admire the land.

It is beautiful, and a flirtatious mix of skyline and otherworldly landscape.

It’s the new world.

R – Not that new anymore I guess. I even was late for the party.

B – Still all is naught but an insignificant event in geological times.

R – You mean against millions of years? It’s far beyond the scale of time I can grasp...

Just like I will never get close to another star and relate to the distance between them, time is too wide before me.

R – Have many of beings-like-you... Memories of a previous era?

N – ?

B – No. It’s true that some of us were already spores long before that time, but I don’t think there’s been another instance in the past when T.I. flooded the planet like that... But I cannot ascertain it for sure.

R – Maybe like ice ages cycles, T.I. might?

B – It might from now on. It’s hard to see how the fluctuations behave on a global scale. I guess... We could theorise that at other times in Earth’s history, there were rising levels of T.I, but it’s pure speculation.

R – I could see it... Magic helping life to evolve and spread faster than normal occasionally. Then magic being consumed as it happened, cooling down.

B – Until another alien object brings more on Earth.... I don’t think it happened twice.

R – You’re surprisingly sceptical for a being-like-you.

B – Eh. Look what you’ve made of me!

We giggle. It’s a recursive joke between us. Once in a while, we play at blaming the other for what she made of us.

We’ve twirled around each other for so long and in so many ways, that we can’t say anymore whom influenced the other the most.

R – I guess it’s right that we’re slowly becoming one.

N – Rose Blume! Come and look at this.

Blume and I grin in amusement as one and go to look where she called. I, we, climb a rock and reach another edge.

Around where Nightmare points out, all I can see are clouds and the structures of Eldorado spreading like wires out there.

Then I notice it. Something big is in flight out there.

R – A bird?

N – A dragon of some sort. I’d be surprised to see such a bird that I wouldn’t have created.

A dragon... Wait, what?

R – A dragon?

N – Maybe. We’ll surely see it closer when we finally fly from the summit, don’t you worry. I’ve seen some movements around that northern area. I think it’s above a lusher jungle, with bigger animals than where we arrived.

The possible dragon is a distant bolt in the sky, far away. Nightmare wants to get closer and study it. Me too!

So we continue climbing.

Meanwhile, I wonder about that thought of previous ages of T.I. I wonder if it happened in distant past.

And I wonder if there’s in the end a collapsing or growing variety of life since the white day occurred.

One thing for sure is that new things find their way and room into that immense world we’ve left.

Every year, humanity is one step closer to its irremediable extinction. It’s unavoidable now.

I’ve made my peace with this twilight a long time ago. I feel a little sad about the culture vanishing along, but it’s alright.

For we may be gone, but everything dies, and it’s far from being the end.

B – There will be no end. Even if all that were left were bacteria and similar organisms, everything would restart. On geological scales, humanity itself was but an event.

I smile. It’s not the first time that Blume’s overly pragmatic views sound unwillingly nihilistic to me. That’s not what she is exactly.

She has the perspective of a thing that isn’t human after all. So I understand what she means behind these words that sound cold.

All may be gone human-wise, but there will still be beauty and violence in this world.

Humanity was a bright singularity in the galaxy.

Humanity was a bright rose. It eventually withered. But it’s not the end, for new things are growing even now.

There will be more horror, sadness, joy and beauty in the world.

We’re already witnessing the budding future of life on Earth everywhere.

Eldorado is a garden from the future time of Earth beginning to emerge.

It’s very far from the worst. It’s a pleasant sight really.

I want to see more.
