Planet Master

136- Planetary Modification Plan

Year Two Hundred and Fifty-Nine. Ten years had passed in the Cerulean Planet. There were dozens of spaceships that came and went to the mother planet.

The mining of the Asteroid Belt was done in its infancy, as some of the resources needed were slowly being filled. Although the progress was quite slow since they needed time to arrive at the Asteroid Belt, mining the resources, storing them in the transport spaceships, before sending them back to the Cerulean Planet.

The civilization had also managed to map out the shortest route from the Asteroid Belt ring to the Cerulean Planet. They even created a space station above the orbit of Bultar and Ghowul.

Thus, the resource gathering for the civilization’s advance toward the starry sky began.

“We need more time before we can go to the nearest plane with manned crews.” Tesna looked at the documents before him and could not help but sigh.

The resources gathered were not enough but the progress to go to the nearest planet had already been completed and was just waiting for the green light of the Federation.

But the Terraforming Module that could be installed inside the spaceship could only work on the regional level, not enough to change the entire planet’s condition.

The nearest planet had an atmosphere similar to the Cerulean Planet but mostly lacked water, creating a large surface area for the spaceship to land.

According to the calculation of the scientists, the regional-level Terraforming Module was sufficient to change the planet's environment in a couple of years with relentless use. But some rejected this since the Terraforming Module could not be used without rest, unlike most machines.

“Those people are probably brawling out with words. How shameful.” Tesna kept reading and found out that the resources gathered were only enough for a journey and the Planetary Modification Plan for one planet.

That was the main issue. What the civilization needed was another place to gather resources as well as living space for more people.

That was why the Planetary Modification Plan had to be executed. As for the planet, this was where the debate came from.

But Tesna knew that they would ultimately choose the nearest planet instead. The nearest planet was the easiest to be changed into an environment the races on the Cerulean Planet used to.

Then he looked at the report of the progress of the resources gathering once again and calculated the entire operation that he was aware of.

‘The result is that we need more time before we colonize the nearest planet. A few years are needed to fully transform the planet into a habitable one.’

-

Year Two Hundred and Eighty of the Father God Calendar.

The spaceship that would undertake the task of carrying the people to the nearest planet colony was actually North Heaven.

Currently in the Basset Space Center on the barge specifically made for it, there were quite a lot of people registering to be the first person to be able to go into another planet.

The Planetary Modification Plan was actually half successful and even that was enough to send the races of the Cerulean Planet to the nearest planet.

“Are we going to another planet?” a Lizardfolk with a white shirt and grey pants asked.

“Of course. The Hinon Federation has announced the partial success of the Planetary Modification Plan and some of the astronauts even stayed there permanently. If they can, of course, we can too.” A Birdman opened his beak and spoke.

“I am nervous. Give me the medicine.” A Human spoke up as he felt that numerous races on the Cerulean Planet had gathered and wanted to go to another planet.

“Right, here you go.” An Elf woman gave the human the medicine. After drinking it, he became calmer and his breath returned to normal while feeling warm inside his stomach.

The Human and the Elf were actually a couple. That was why the Birdman and the Lizardfolk took a surprise look.

It was rare for the Elf race to venture outside their territory, so they gave the Elf lady another look before returning to their main focus: entering the spaceship.

“Please enter the spaceship in an orderly manner. Then show your ‘permit to another planet’ to the staff in front of the entrance of the spaceship. I repeat…”

A loud voice echoed out, repeating the general instruction needed to be able to migrate to another planet.

Fortunately, the races of the Cerulean Planet had learned a lot about etiquette and exchanged cultures and worldviews, creating a harmonious relationship among the races despite previously being enemies to each other.

This caused them to understand each other at the deeper level and know that a tidy queue was necessary for everyone so that it would not disturb the others or cause concern.

At the bridge of the North Heaven, the commander of the spaceship sat on his seat overseeing the operation of the spaceship.

All the systems were checked and the passengers finally got on the spaceship.

“Close the hatch. We are initiating countdown to our launch.” The commander said.

The crews became busy since they needed to recheck the operational system to make sure that nothing was wrong before the launch, during the journey and when arriving at the other planet.

“Commander, all the preparations are complete.” After some time, the adjutant moved to the left side of the commander and announced it.

The commander nodded. He blinked a few times before giving the order.

“Since all the systems are fine, ready to launch. Preparing countdown.”

The countdown proceeded as planned and as the entire planet could watch the entire process, the commander was making sure that everything went as planned.

Then the North Heaven spaceship launched from its position, slowly ascended toward the starry sky, toward the nearest planet where the promise of the new world awaits the passengers.

With the Warp Engine, the North Heaven spaceship needed five full hours to arrive at the nearest planet. As to why it was called the nearest planet, it was because the name of the planet had not decided yet due to different opinions.

That was why the Hinon Federation decided to let the first people who migrated there the honor of naming it themselves.

Five hours later, the North Heaven spaceships finally arrived at the destination planet.

“Prepare for landing. The landing place is confirmed to be Arkham.” The commander ordered the crews to change the direction of the spaceship.

“Dear passengers, we have arrived at the orbit of the planet. Please prepare to disembark. I repeat…”

The announcement was spread to the entire spaceship. The passengers who heard that then prepared themselves to disembark.

After half an hour, the spaceship finally landed. The people had been waiting to go outside.

Arkham was a place where the Planetary Modification Plan originated, meaning the environment there was the most similar to that of the Cerulean Planet.

When the hatch was opened, the people saw some greenery along with the red landscape further along the horizon. They could see the dome right in front of them, isolating the environment from the effects of the outside.

There were large words of “Welcome to Arkham” near the spaceship, placed there by the first pioneer. Those pioneers now stood in front of the words as they greeted the newcomers.

“Everyone, you are the first migrant from the Cerulean Planet that we have received. Once again, welcome to Arkham.” The blue coats of the pioneers were obvious to the newly arrived people.

“Your residents are already processed. Now, if you all can follow us to your designated residence first before everything else.”

The migrants had to follow the blue coats since they were the pioneer that they all respected.

After the migrants were settled, it was time for them to get something to do. A job, one should say.

-

Those who watched the livestream of the North Heaven spaceship departure until its arrival at the planet were stunned by the disappearance over the five hours.

But when the feed returned, they finally could see the planet live through their devices.

“Right, what should we name this planet?”

“I don’t know. Ask an expert at naming so that the name will not be so cringeworthy.”

“Where do you think we can find someone who is authorized to name that planet?”

Comments flooded the livestream as the main theme for the chat was the name of the planet.

“Ultimately, the people there will be the ones who named the planet.”

One comment stood out and was pinned to be visible to everyone.

That was the truth. The name of the planet would be decided by its first community there, not them. After seeing the pinned comment, most of the viewers agreed that it was the case and commented their support so that the name would not be strange.

At least, they hoped that the name could be better and remembered with good intentions.

-

“Welcome to the important meeting of naming our new inhabited planet. I wonder what the people here think about this.”

At the meeting where the name of the planet would be decided, all of the people were gathered in an auditorium, which was created from the best construction material available on the planet. At least it made sure that the structure could handle a quake.

Dozens of people had gathered and their expression was one of curiosity and trepidation.

“We have received numerous suggestions of the planet’s name. Let’s read it one by one.”

Then the screen in front of the audience changed to that of the numerous suggested names given by them. Some of them were laugh-worthy, while the others induced cringes among the people.

Whether it was Lizardfolk, Birdman, Humans, Dwarves and Elves, they were going to decide the name of the planet.

Then it was time for them to cast their vote to the name they liked. The process was a bit long due to some indecisive individuals but no one forced them to be quick as this decision would affect not only the present but also the future.

After that, the entire vote was shown on the screen in real time.

“Wow, look at this. The most voted name is actually something we have considered for quite some time.” The emcee said a fact to the dozens of audience members.

As for the people, they gasped in surprise but soon cheered at the name. They even raised their hands and waved it. Their expression was cheerful and happy.

“The name of this planet will be Futuro. Since this has been decided by everyone, you all need to accept it and spread its name to our mother planet’s residents.”

Since then, Futuro Planet gained its name.

Not only that but the entire process was broadcast and livestreamed to the people at the Cerulean Planet.

It showed that the people there had decided on this name and were happy about that.

-

For the Hinon Science Institute, the naming of Futuro Planet was not a big thing. What they were currently trying to do was to create a fighter in the void capable of attacking the spaceship.

This was because they made a theoretical enemy that could do spacefaring like the current civilization but more exaggerated.

This project was called “Silpheed Project”, trying to create a fighter that could move in the void of the starry sky.

Along with it was the creation of the Starfighter Carrier. It was a spaceship designed like an aircraft carrier that operated on the sea. Instead of the sea, the spaceship carrier operated on the void in the starry sky.

“What is it that we lack? It is definitely an affordable space for the Starfigther.” Charlene pursed her lips as she explained the main problem in a few sentences.

“We indeed lack the space but we also need to mind the cost of expanding the internal space of the spaceship. If we increase it, the resource needed will be bigger.” One of the scientists said.

According to the theoretical data, the increase of the internal space would affect the entire spaceship structure and also increase its cost.

But Charlene knew that was necessary. Carriers were meant to be the main firepower of the space fleets so increasing their cost was naturally within the scope.

“Isn’t it normal for carriers to be expensive? They are the backbone of the fleet, whether on sea or in the starry sky.” Another scientist knew the thought that Charlene had and interjected.

“Furthermore, creating the first Starfighter Carrier will be significant in our future Star Battle. Don’t forget about this when you want to cut some budget.” Charlene narrowed her eyes at those who wanted to do so.

She realized that building this carrier would be expensive and resource-draining, but they still needed to do it.

The scientists there furrowed their brows. Although they were just the ones who had to plan things but their expertise was still relied upon before doing a major thing.

“Alright, don’t be so tense. What Miss Charlene said is true. A carrier spaceship will be more costly than the other types of spaceships and we should accept that fact. Now, would you all like to discuss the optimal ratio for the resource used to make a single carrier?” Tesna said.

They realized that Tesna was right. All of them were not just scientists but also transcendents who had reached the early stage of the Core Formation Realm and thus lived long enough to know that this person was decisive and created many practical technologies.

“Let’s just discuss it. If you are this insistent, then we have no choice but to cooperate.”

“Of course. We want to know whether the carrier will be effective in future battles.”

All of them agreed to this and decided to find the optimal resource and utility ratio. The idea was already from long ago but could only be realized now.

There were many types of spaceships. Frigate, Transport, Cruiser, Battleship and Carrier. That was the standard for the spaceship that was being produced.

North Heaven was actually closer to a transport rather than a cruiser. Actually, it was a mix of both as it was the first spaceship the civilization produced.

But from then on, the civilization decided to specialize in creating a spaceship.

The current priority now was mixed between creating more mining spaceships as well as some other types of spaceship for security.

Although there was no indication whatsoever about any other living being in the vast universe, but the civilization decided to be cautious.

Year after year, the resources gathered were enough to do one Planetary Modification Plan. The Hinon Federation planned to send the resource to the Futuro Planet first so that the residents would not have to live inside an artificial environment dome.

“Hmm. Looks like those at the Futuro Planet are preparing for their planet to be turned into another life planet.” Tatsumi sat on the edge of the bed when he received information about the situation of the Futuro Planet through the Library of Consciousness.

‘Although there is a difference in time but what I relay to you is in real time.’ Kudungga commented.

‘Yes. I want to know all the progress since it cannot be shown on the media for some reason.’ Tatsumi actually knew the reason why.

Planetary Modification Plan relied on the Terraforming Machine. Like the saying goes, whatever can create heaven can also create hell. Tatsumi realized that the device could be used to make the environment inhospitable for most living beings except for microscopic ones.

‘Currently, the atmosphere on the Futuro Planet is being changed through the machine. The gradual progress of the Terraforming has been going on for years and now we have reached the final stage.’ Goto added.

For Tatsumi, it was good news. It meant that some of the previously uninhabited planets could be transformed into a life planet.

While Tatsumi waited for the results, synchronizing with the Nafs in the Library of Consciousness, Dian looked intently at the new Technology Tree in the system.

[Name: Terraforming Machine

Rank: 3

Description: This device can change the environment of a region up to the point of changing a planet’s condition. It can create a life planet but the reverse is also true as it can also create a dead planet. This is the result of countless research and development of the civilization.

Further Possible Technology: Planet Creator]

Although the description was short, Dian knew that the shorter, the stronger the effect. Terraforming Machine was something that Dian did not expect his civilization to have this soon.

Despite his estimation, this Technology was in the early part of the T3 Technology Tree.

It should be in the middle of the T3 Technology Tree. What changed?

Dian was wondering about it when Leif came to him.

“Master, there is something I need to tell you.” Leif said.

Dian raised his head and looked at Leif. He wondered why Leif came to him but he assumed that it would be something important if Leif personally came to him.

“What is it?” Dian asked.

“It is about the newly developed technology. Do you think it is strange?” Leif explained.

Dian knew what Leif meant, as some of the Technology that was supposed to be in the middle of the T3 Technology tree had appeared in the early part instead.

“You mean some of the technology that appeared in the early parts?” Dian tried to get clarification.

“Yes! Those things are supposed to be constant, never changing.” Leif exclaimed.

The difference between the Technology Tree and the Transcendent Tree was in the case of whether one change or not. Transcendent Tree could change its position depending on the development of the transcendents.

But Technology Tree was something gradual and progressive, meaning it should not have changed much. But from Dian’s observation, the position of the Terraforming Machine changed along with some technologies.

This warranted further observation.
