121- Smagenrog (2)
Long Wu used his blood manipulation skill to at least control the damage the Dragon had done to the Cerulean Defense Force’s Divisions.
Although it was somehow limited in how it worked, at least the soldiers managed to get away and even leave their anti-air guns before being destroyed by Smagenrog.
“Hu…I can’t keep doing this. The task of slaying the Dragon has to fall on my disciple since his offensive power increased dramatically the last time I sparred with him. Something about realizing the intent…that’s what he told me but I only have a faint idea about what it is.” Long Wu sighed as he exerted some mind power and transcendent energy for the blood manipulation skill to activate.
But the Dragon could not be contained for long.
He realized this, the Dragon realized this, and even Tatsumi realized this.
That was the reason why they needed to act quickly. When Long Wu used his mind power sweep to perceive things, he realized that his disciple was on the move.
The jade-colored transcendent energy on his disciple slowly turned purple, turning him into a purple meteor that struck the Dragon.
But when he perceived things closer, he realized that there was a small bullet passing right through Tatsumi’s feet, as if creating a stepping stone for him while also attacking the Dragon.
“If he even dares to attack the Dragon’s weakness, I too have to pull my weight around, do I?” Long Wu grinned while spitting a blob of blood from his mouth.
Overexerting using the blood-manipulation skill caused him to be injured internally and he needed time to heal. But now that Tatsumi was starting to attack Smagenrog, Long Wu knew that this moment needed him to control the Dragon from acting too much.
On the other end, Ame was aiming her Anti-Material Sniper Rifle at the Dragon while at the same time allowing Tatsumi to jump from bullet to bullet.
Even though they were at the peak of the Core Formation Realm, the way to fly in the sky was still out of reach for them. It was because to fly, an astronomical energy was needed, or to create an anti-gravity field around them, which could allow someone to float and even fly freely in the sky.
But so far, that method was not known to any of the people and transcendents in the civilization.
That was why Ame had to do this, to support Tatsumi as well as attack the Dragon.
“Husband, this is all I can do for you.” Ame said while still shooting with her bullet infused with her transcendent energy, which went berserk since she also opened the Gate of Opening for extra damage.
Tatsumi felt that his mind and body were slowly eroded but he resisted it fiercely as if a tiger had seen something that would threaten his rule in the mountain. His breath became ragged but his step was far from it; it was filled with grace and calculation as Tatsumi used his incomplete blade intent.
That intent, when pushed to the limit of what he could manage, changed his jade-colored transcendent energy to bright violet and that reminded Tatsumi of something he had often basked in but treated it as if for granted.
‘Right, the light of the violet sun which dawned on even me. This feels like it but it is born from my blade intent. Alright, let’s call this Violet Sun Blade Intent!’ Tatsumi thought as he took another step from the bullet that went to the Smagenrog.
“Smagenrog, Dragon of Ruin, right? Let’s see whether you can ruin everything, or I will bring an end to your presence here.” Tatsumi shouted out loud, even using his mind transmission to relay it to the Dragon.
Then Tatsumi unsheathed his blade. The blade which was made from Adamantium, now glowed with a violet color, and the transcendent energy became so sharp that when Smagenrog tried to look at it, its eye became blinded for a moment.
Tatsumi realized this split-second moment and then used the bullet being shot as a big stepping pedestal before aiming straight for the broken Inverse Scale.
Bright, violet meteor formed from the berserking transcendent energy but Tatsumi clenched his teeth and focused his eyes on the thing beyond the broken Inverse Scale, beyond the opened flesh behind it.
With his mind scan, he finally confirmed that the Dragon Heart was right behind it.
As for Smagenrog’s anger? That was actually a mask to hide its fear of exposing its heart to them. At least Tatsumi thought so.
But as he finally got so near that he could feel the palpitating heart, Smagenrog used its most versatile technique.
Calling the Wind, Summoning the Rain.
The weather changed as the wind screamed and kicked up to Tatsumi’s position. Ame felt the change in the weather as she was the most proficient in this technique and divided her mind into two things.
Shooting the Dragon and supporting the transcendents who also used the formation to strengthen the effect of the technique to counteract the Dragon’s.
This was not actually her own invention. No, this Parallel Thinking was actually thanks to Charlene's discovery and she shared it with Ame, causing her to be able to use it.
Actually, Tatsumi was also using it while giving half of his mind to execute the Violet Sun Blade Intent and the other to help him reach the injury that he had made, whatever the case.
Tatsumi took a step forward, and that was done with difficulty as the wind formed a wall around its broken Inverse Scale. Tatsumi had to spend more effort just to enter it.
The wound was quite large, enough for a person to fit. That was why Tatsumi was betting his all in this move so that the Dragon would not create another obstacle.
Then Ame aimed at the injury and shot her bullet. The bullet flew fast but was interrupted by the strong wind and its speed decreased. But then Tatsumi caught the change in the wind and penetrated the wind wall, reaching the broken Inverse Scale and penetrating deeper into the flesh.
Red blood flowed from the Dragon’s chest area as Smagenrog was roaring in pain. Long Wu, Ame and the people in there all had to seal their hearing as well as cover their ears for fear of losing their hearing.
“Damn…it!”
Smagenrog then used its front limbs to tear at its chest area, instinctively trying to get anything out from there. But it was a bit too late as Tatsumi used the blade as an instrument to thrust its sharp part to penetrate not only the broken Inverse Scale and flesh but also its heart.
The Dragon realized a bit late and then used a physical strengthening aspect of the transcendent energy to give his flesh some additional toughness. This was actually its last-ditch effort to make sure that Tatsumi was trapped inside its flesh.
But Tatsumi had gained a foothold inside its body and therefore unleashed everything he had to penetrate its heart.
“Ha…ha…ha!”
Tatsumi’s breath became more and more ragged as he forced himself to open the Gate of Opening while using Violet Sun Blade Intent to penetrate deeper into the Dragon’s flesh and reach its heart.
‘Just a bit more.’
Tatsumi thought and was obsessed with it.
Each step he penetrated the flesh, he thought like that. With a step closer to the heart, his obsession to slay the Dragon from inside intensifies.
‘Penetrate! More!’
‘Just a bit more!’
His vision slowly grew blurry, his hearing grew distant while his sense of smell was starting to be blocked. Whatever the case, Tatsumi was starting to lose himself, being eroded by the intent.
But the obsession he had with slaying the Dragon by penetrating its heart remained steady in his heart. He could feel where the Dragon’s heart was by now, and there could be no mistake.
‘I have my wives, teacher, children and others who I treat as family. Even if this is the last thing I would do, I will do it without hesitation!’
Tatsumi penetrated deeper with each step but it was also taxing enough that he did not realize that blood slowly flowed from his orifices. The sight was quite ugly but Tatsumi persisted in his obsession.
‘Slaying this Dragon will put an end to the Lizardfolk’s advantage!’
He kept thinking about his family, his close ones, the advantage of doing that, etc.
Tatsumi also realized that the blood the Dragon had in its body flowed strangely, as if being affected by outside forces.
‘Teacher’s Blood-Manipulation Technique is superb as always.’ Tatsumi kept thinking about his priority in life.
He linked it with the obsession of slaying the Dragon and then took another step.
*cough*
Tatsumi coughed up a mouthful of blood as he felt that his body was at the limit. Anymore and he would feel the consequences of using the Violet Sun Blade Intent with the Gate of Opening.
But he could feel the beat of the heart right beyond the wall of flesh that was in front of him. With another thrust, Tatsumi made another big hole inside Smagenrog’s body.
At this moment, the Dragon thrashed itself into the ground, rolling, jumping, clawing at its chest as if that was the only thing that mattered.
Ame felt that her eyes were a bit teary. She knew that Tatsumi had spent everything on this and felt his presence inside the Dragon. She hoped that whatever he did, he could do it successfully.
Then tears came from her eyes as she felt that Tatsumi’s presence in her mind scan became weaker and weaker. But with it, the distance between him and the heart became closer and closer.
‘Please, I beg of you Father God! Please let him succeed!’ Ame even begged in her mind for Dian to let Tatsumi succeed.
Of course, Dian had activated his Active Auxiliary Card the moment Tatsumi attacked the Dragon’s broken Inverse Scale.
[Name: Strong Luck
Rank: E
Type: Auxiliary Ability Card (Active)
Effect: Whenever the card is activated, it grants the Core Race strong luck in the moment until ten minutes later. Does not consume the destiny of the civilization and the fortune of the planet.
Note: Only the civilization with the Fortunate Achievement could buy this card. Enter a twenty-four-hour cooldown after use.]
Dian smiled as this was the game-changer card that he needed and he played it to the fullest effect. The moment He revealed His intention to Tatsumi, he knew that activating this card was the most absolute thing he had to do to change the tide of battle.
Truthfully, the Lizardfolk Planet Master was great in that he even managed to get the rarest Summoning Dragon Auxiliary Ability Card. But the rarest and strongest did not mean invincibility.
To me, luck is the greater force in running the world. Proof of that is the human race I have to handle!
When the luck was in the important moment, you would feel it felt like fate had played a hand but really all it needed was one lucky break to change the fate of not only one person but also a civilization.
Dian now realized that the Fortunate Achievement was not a joke for him and others to make. But it was a heartfelt reaction from the Planet Master System to Dian’s civilization as well as others who also had it.
Go forth and defeat the Dragon, my Star Child.
Dian sent his wishes to Tatsumi even though Tatsumi was on the verge of collapsing, barely heard this message when he was kneeling, trying to tie up the emotions that went away with the blade intent eroding him.
‘What? What is that?’ Tatsumi thought in his hazy mind.
He remembered why he did this reckless gambit. His eyes cleared for a moment as he tried to stand up. His body was shaking so much but he managed to stand up and walk to the beating heart of the Dragon.
He had to admit that the heart of the Dragon was so big that he was not sure penetrating it fully would work. But his obsession was overwhelming his fear at this moment.
Tatsumi took a step forward in the large space that contained the Dragon’s heart. Tatsumi thrusted his blade which shone with violet light.
It felt like a sword immortal, thrusting his sword at the heart, undisturbed, unperturbed and unchallenged.
Tatsumi did not care that another mouthful of blood was filling his throat; he also did not care whether his senses had gone awry because of him using the Violet Sun Blade Intent.
What he cared about most was that he put an end to this Dragon.
A lot of blood sprayed from the flesh that was penetrated. The beating of the heart kept the blood flowing out and Tatsumi gritted his bloodied teeth as he pushed his blade deeper into the heart.
‘More! Once more!’ Tatsumi screamed in his mind, grasping every emotion he had at the moment.
Remembering everything that felt distant and strange made him remember about the faces of his family, his close ones, his teacher.
He also remembered the face of the three forefathers who had guided him; now their voices were only faint background noise, unimportant.
But he still remembered his obsession, to penetrate the Dragon’s heart and slay the Dragon.
Whatever the reason behind it, it was not important. What was important was that he needed to pierce deeper and make sure that the Dragon was utterly killed.
“Slay…the…Dragon!” Tatsumi muttered unconsciously.
His eyes were cold, as cold as the blade that pierced through the Dragon’s heart. Now, Tatsumi was practically drowned in the Dragon’s blood.
He moved another step, and the blood of the Dragon now formed a vortex under his feet, which started to climb up into his body. The Dragon’s blood was actually quite invasive as they tried to invade Tatsumi’s body.
But Tatsumi was becoming one with his blade. All he cared about was penetrating the Dragon’s heart to slay it. Anything else was inconsequential.
As the Dragon’s blood filled Tatsumi’s body, it gave him more power which was almost exhausted when Tatsumi finally arrived in front of the heart.
Empowered by the Dragon’s blood, Tatsumi easily pierced deeper into the heart, which caused the blood to spray out more and flow into Tatsumi’s body, empowering him.
This formed a virtuous circle in which Tatsumi was the beneficiary. Contrary to that was the Dragon Smagenrog.
To it, this was the vicious circle that drained him of his essence blood and used it against him. Sadly, he was only an Infant Dragon, which was not complete.
He had no complete power over his own body, which was the cause of this.
‘Am…I…going to die?’
That thought finally surfaced inside the Dragon’s mind. It did not even believe that the enemy he had to face was capable of doing this. Then he saw something which started to make sense.
It felt something intangible that tied him like a domesticated beast. On the other hand of the intangible thing was actually the very human that it looked down upon.
‘I see…so this is luck. How foolish of me to fight against this kind of enemy.’
Smagenrog finally made sense of so many things with this enemy. They were capable of injuring him, minimizing their casualties, dealing the most severe damage to his summoner’s race, and many more events it could see.
It was foolish to fight someone who was blessed with fortune from the planet as well as destiny from the civilization. Furthermore, it was even augmented by something beyond its perception, probably the God of the humans.
‘All…this…time, I…am…fighting…against…a…Star…Child.’
That realization came too late as its heart was finally pierced through and the blade intent caused more damage, to the point of totally destroying its heart.
Its right eye was slowly dropping low, before closing completely as the mouth of the Dragon finally let out a mouthful of blood.
Then it stopped thrashing around as its wing was even retracted and its limbs were stopping from moving around.
Ame was the first one to get closer to the Dragon. To be precise, to the wound it had on its chest.
She wanted only one thing: to see her husband safe and sound. The fact that she could only feel a faint life force meant that he was in a dangerous situation.
She stored her Myriad Manifestation Umbrella as a twin dagger sheathed on her waist as she entered the wound and tracked the path that Tatsumi had tread.
Soon, she saw a scene that almost made her scream. She saw that Tatsumi was fully covered in red; she did not know whether it was from his own injury or from the blood from the heart. But she knew one thing: the injury Tatsumi had was not only external but also internal.
“No!” Ame quickly supported Tatsumi as he began to fall from overexerting himself to the point of regarding everything else other than his obsession as inconsequential.
She used her transcendent energy properties as a supplement of life to heal his wound. But she found out that his injury did not heal and instead caused her hand to be in pain.
Ame sobbed but tried her best to find another way.
‘The blood! It’s rejecting my transcendent energy. But…’ Ame thought about it and started healing his body, other than the blood veins, as it contained the blood of the Dragon.
Ame had noticed that the Dragon blood had invaded Tatsumi. She did not know how to treat that, so all she could do was isolate the blood from invading further.
Actually, almost all of Tatsumi’s body was invaded by the Dragon’s blood so her achievement was actually great.
It was lucky for Tatsumi that Ame was so skilled in healing. This was also one manifestation of strong luck.
Tatsumi had managed to penetrate the Dragon’s heart in less than ten minutes. The remaining time was on Ame finding and healing him.
