Chapter 314: The Revelation
At the training camp, Kate and the other recruits had once again gathered in front of the main building of the training camp. This was the same place that they had gathered when they were informed about the combat assessment.
The previous day, after the combat assessment was completed, a total of 5 recruits were eliminated. This was something that everyone already knew about, so they were not that surprised about it.
The thing that left most of the recruits shocked was the efficiency of the medical facilities of the training camp.
First of all, the person that Evan had injured, he had been able to return to the dormitories on the evening of the same day of the combat assessment.
That was despite his injuries being quite serious, with some broken bones. But that guy, he came back to the dormitories, as if he had not been injured at all.
Of course, despite him spending the night in the dormitories, early this morning, he and the other four that had been eliminated both left the training camp.
As for Evan, that guy had been beaten senselessly by Lina. It could be said that the injuries that he had suffered were way worse as compared to those that he had inflicted on the opponent that he faced after losing to Kate.
But even then, it was just about 3 hours later, after the first guy came back, that Evan came back as well. And just like the first guy, he was completely healed, with no signs of injury at all.
He would have looked perfectly normal, had it not been for his expression that looked as though he wanted to kill someone. And of course, that was to be expected, considering that he had been defeated twice.
With the combat ability that he possessed, he should have been able to win all five matches, if he had not encountered Lina and Kate.
But unfortunately, he encountered the two ladies, and each one of them was strong, and the other one even sent him to the infirmary.
At this point, his reputation was already ruined, and it would be very difficult for him to be able to raise his head in front of others.
Therefore, he of course held resentment in his heart, though he dared not act upon it. Not to mention that he could not beat the two ladies, this was the training camp.
Previously, because of his misconduct, he had ended up being dismissed from the training camp. Had it not been for his brother, who had spent all the merits that he had accumulated over the years, Evan would not have returned to the training camp.
Anyway, Lina and Kate just heard about all those events the next morning, just before they were summoned in front of the administration block.
After all, there was a division of the dormitories, in such a way that men had their own dormitories, and ladies had theirs as well.
Additionally, they had seen Evan with their own eyes, and the guy was perfectly fine. This was something that made them wonder, just what kind of equipment and technology was used to heal Evan and the other guy?
But of course, Kate had another thought. That was, she remembered what Michael had asked her a few days ago.
She believed that Michael could not have just asked that question out of the blue. It meant that there was something related to supernatural abilities that was bound to happen.
So, she speculated that there was a probability that the healing of both Evan and the other guy was related to someone with a supernatural ability that was related to healing.
Of course, she could not be too sure about this, as there was a possibility that the government had somehow managed to develop a high level medicine that could heal the injuries in a short time.
The government after all kept quite a number of things confidential, not revealing them to the public. So, that was still a possibility, though she had her own doubts.
Back to the present, as they stood in front of the administration block, waiting for Peter and the other higher ups of the training camp to appear, Kate’s mind continuously wondered.
She was quite curious about what was the reason behind why they had been summoned here. But in the end, she did not manage to think of anything, apart from making some wild guesses.
Just about a minute later, finally, Peter and the others emerged from the building. It was the same lineup as the other time when they were being informed about the combat assessment. Alex, who had overseen the combat assessment, was not present at the moment.
Kate noticed that Richard was still there, but this guy, he had been acting as though he did not exist in the same plane as them.
He was mostly playing the role of an observer, and this entire time, she had not seen him talk to anyone. And apart from the glance that she received from him the previous day during the combat assessment, nothing major involving him had happened ever since.
Just like 2 days ago, Richard just stood together with the other higher-ups of the training camp, as Peter took a step forward, to address the group of recruits.
With a serious expression on his face, he observed everyone for quite a while, before he began speaking.
In a calm but loud voice, he said, "Congratulations to all of you for avoiding the elimination in the previous round. But this time, we are getting serious.
Let me give you a warning in advance. The next stage can be or I should say, is life-threatening. There is a high probability that most of you will end up dying, if not all of you.
Therefore, I want all of you to think, are you willing to take the risk? If you take the risk and you succeed, you can directly be recruited into the organization.
But if you don’t want to take the risks, you are free to give up, and you will be dismissed from the training camp, just like the other 5.
You have one minute to think about it, before making your decisions. And let me warn you, after making a decision, you cannot change it. So, think wisely."
Immediately after he finished speaking, Peter remained silent, standing in the same place, observing the group of recruits.
As for the recruits, they were all shocked by the revelation from Peter. They began wondering, could it be that they would be required to fight against each other to the death?
Or was it possible that they would have to take a mission that would need them to deal with some dangerous criminals? Otherwise, why would it be that the next phase was life-threatening?
At this point, most of the recruits immediately decided to leave. When they were invited, they were of course tempted, understanding that this was a chance for them to gain something.
But now, it was clear, it was not that easy to be able to gain what they wanted. They had to take some risks, and if they were unlucky, they would end up dying here.
But almost every person here had a dream that they had yet to fulfill. So, they were unwilling to die, and leave that dream hanging.

Therefore, within the 1 minute time frame that they had been given, they became determined, believing that there was no gain without taking risks.
Hence, with their hearts filled with resolve, they decided, they would take the risk. If they die, then so be it. But if they succeed, then they would be able to achieve what they wanted.
Kate’s thoughts were also in turmoil. The moment, she was completely puzzled, wondering what Peter was referring to.
Previously, before she accepted Richard’s invitation, Michael had already given her the information on NEXUS. Therefore, among all the recruits here, she believed that she was the one who understood this organization the most.
But in the information that Michael provided, there was no mention of something like this. According to the information that Michael had provided, it was clear that after the combat assessment, they would enter another phase.
That would be where they would be training how to use different types of weapons. And after a duration of training, they would begin taking missions, starting with the low-risk missions.
And only after they had completed a certain number of missions, would they be qualified to be able to join the other teams of the combat branch, or the other two branches.
Yet, despite her confusion, she decided to trust Michael. She believed that Michael already knew about this, and might not have informed her about it.

And suddenly, she thought about Alex’s actions the previous day, during the combat assessment. The jumping ability that he had demonstrated was definitely beyond what was to be expected of a human.
So, she wondered, could it be that this time, the next phase that they would have to deal with, would be the chance for them to be able to gain abilities like Alex’s?
If that really was the case, then she could not give up at all. And maybe this was why Michael had contacted her A few days ago, to ask her about what type of ability she would like to have.
But apart from the trust that she had in Michael, Kate was willing to take the risk. It was not that easy for her to be able to take revenge for the death of her father.
If she could become as strong as Alex was, and joined this organization, she would definitely have a great chance of getting her revenge.
Just as she was still thinking about this, Peter’s voice suddenly interrupted them.
"Alright, I believe that you have all made your own choices, and have decided on what to do! So, starting from the lowest number in terms of your recruit number, give me your decision!" Peter shouted.
