Chapter 391: The Old Corrupted Governor
Lee Zhen Ren’s Residence.
Ruo Zhi was planning for the harassment to be made on the partners and suppliers for the Sima Family with Lee Qing.
They went through a list with the names of their targets on it.
And on the top of the list was Lin Xuan Qi from the Lin Clan written onto it.
Lee Qing was eager to see Lin Xuan Qi and his men again.
She was still curious as to why they dared to go up against her previously when they were dispensing the charity porridge.
They were interrupted when a servant girl came into the room they were in.
"What’s the matter?" Ruo Zhi frowned and asked impatiently.
The servant girl bowed and said, "The Governor requests for a visit, saying that it was an urgent matter."
"Urgent matter?" Ruo Zhi mumbled and glanced over at Lee Qing.
Lee Qing shook her head and kept the list of targets they were discussing earlier.
She had no idea why the Governor would visit so suddenly.
"Maybe the Governor wants us to stop the tussle between the Hu Clan and Sima Family." Lee Qing said with a smirk, being proud of her handiwork.
"That old fool only thinks about his performance in front of the emperor." She added on and said, seeing how the Governor was busy with getting rid of corrupted officials all of a sudden.
Which was a waste of time in her view.
Cultivators like her rather spend their time and effort on their cultivation and grabbing all of the cultivation resources.
Ruo Zhi wasn’t so sure about what Lee Qing had said and she replied, "We shall see..."
They followed the servant and headed to the guest room where the Governor was waiting.
"It’s an honor to have you here." Ruo Zhi said and took her seat.
Lee Qing stood beside Ruo Zhi with her sword in her hand.
The servant girl quickly poured Ruo Zhi and Lee Qing a cup of tea each.
The Governor gave them a smile and said, "So sorry to intrude, but I have a request to make.
"Apparently there was someone from Bian Jing that got injured by a rogue cultivator in the mountains and I suspect the rogue cultivator might be someone involved in the rebellion."
Ruo Zhi nodded her head and didn’t think too much about it, "I will send some of my men to check on it in the mountains."
The Governor shook his head and said, "I think you didn’t understand what I’ve said.
"That someone from Bian Jing is rather important, and the emperor might not be too pleased if we can’t give the emperor a satisfactory answer."
He repeated what Lin Xuan Qi had said to him.
It worked well as it made him look like the old Governor who was corrupted.
The Governor of old would be fearful of the failure to please those like the emperor in Bian Jing.
Ruo Zhi frowned and asked, "Who is that someone?"
"Huo Fei Li from the Huo Clan." The Governor replied and there was silence.
The Huo Clan is one of the suppliers of the swords the Six Pulse Sword Sect used and their influence in the sect was huge.
They might not be too pleased if she didn’t try her best to apprehend the rogue cultivator in the mountains.
And besides that, she couldn’t drop the pretense of working for the peace and stability of Hong Feng City.
Ruo Zhi glanced over at Lee Qing and Lee Qing gave her a nod.
Finally, she glanced over at the Governor and said, "I shall see to it personally."
"That’s great. Do let me know if you need help from my men.
"I will also write a memorial to the emperor about your hard work and effort in keeping Hong Feng City safe." The Governor cupped his hands at Ruo Zhi and said.
"Don’t worry, I will get it done as soon as possible." Ruo Zhi said and Lee Qing nodded with a smirk.
"Then, I shall take my leave first." The Governor didn’t stay long for formalities and he left Lee Zhen Ren’s residence afterwards.
Ruo Zhi frowned and shook her head at the Governor leaving.
This sudden request didn’t seem to be something that Sima Ye would do.
It must have been from someone else.
She figured that the corrupted and useless Governor she had known wasn’t able to come up with something like this to distract them from their plans.
Lee Qing saw her frown and said, "Don’t worry, senior martial sister.
"I will take care of the partners and suppliers of the Sima Family myself."
"Be careful and hide your identity." Ruo Zhi gave out a sigh and said, "I’ve asked for elders from the sect to come as reinforcement to help us and the sect leader had agreed.
"The elders would be here soon and we just need to make sure that we don’t mess it up big time before they arrive."
That got Lee Qing excited.
She bowed at Ruo Zhi and said, "I don’t see anyone who can stop me, senior martial sister."
The suppliers and partners they were targeting were merchants without cultivators as their backing and Lee Qing didn’t see how it was possible for her to fail.
Ruo Zhi shook her head at Lee Qing and said, "Don’t be too arrogant like those young masters.
"You will never know who is out there."
She had a bad hunch as even the Governor was able to come up with such a request to draw her away so suddenly.
There was someone behind it and she couldn’t figure it out.
But she had made her first move and it was too late to retract it now.
Lee Qing didn’t think much of it and said, "It will be over before you return back from the mountains."
Ruo Zhi still wasn’t satisfied and felt that she had to do more in the time being.
Since she was about to hunt for a rogue cultivator, it might be time to up the ante and get rogue cultivators across the land to help.
Time for brawls and fights among the mortals was about to be over soon.
