Chapter 390: Lin Xuan Qi’s Plan
Lin Xuan Qi waited for a response from the Governor but he didn’t get it while the Governor weighed his options.
Finally, when the tapping on the table stopped, the Governor glanced at him and said, "I can try to put up a memorial to the emperor but there’s no guarantee of what will happen in the time being.
"My men can only go around maintaining the order for small skirmishes but they can’t do much if it was the cultivators fighting among each other.
"I hope you can understand, or maybe even better, give me a suggestion like what you did previously."
He had let Ruo Zhi be the counter power to the Sima Family’s influence in Hong Feng City and it was a mistake on his part.
It was an overestimation of his ability on his part.
As Lee Yi Hong, he was much better at fighting for the Dark Lord’s dream rather than making all these power plays.
Lin Xuan Qi took a sip of the tea while he thought about what the Governor had said.
It appeared to him that the Governor had chosen to be hands off when the cultivators started exchanging blows.
That made him wary about what was about to happen soon.
He might have to continue and make more preparations to protect the mansion and factories.
As for the suggestions, he knew that the Sima Family was waiting for the Nascent Soul Ascension Pill from Lu Ting.
So, the best he could do was to suggest to stall for time until the pills arrived and let the Sima Family become much more powerful with hopefully more than one cultivator ascending to Nascent Soul Level.
That might tilt the balance of power and ensure that Sima Ye and the Sima Family would have the advantage over the Six Pulse Sword Sect.
Hopefully, it would be enough to let the Six Pulse Sword Sect back off from whatever they were planning to accomplish.
He was more interested in building up his Clan in peace if he could help it.
Lin Xuan Qi put down the teacup he had in his hand and said, "As a lowly merchant, I don’t know much about what or how the cultivators think.
"All that I know about is that to be prosperous, it is best to be cordial among each other.
"It might be best for you to tie the cultivators down with something else and distract them first.
"Since the cultivator from the Six Pulse Sword Sect is assigned here to protect Hong Feng City and the surroundings, make them do so."
When the Governor heard what he had said, the Governor raised an eyebrow and asked, "What do you mean by that?"
"I have a friend, young master Huo Fei Li, from the Huo Clan in Bian Jing.
"And I suppose that you should know that they are pretty influential with the imperial officials.
"He was heavily wounded in the mountains nearby by a cultivator dressed in a dark robe and long black flowing hair not too long ago.
"I think that person might be involved in the rebellion earlier.
"It would be the responsibility of the cultivator from the Six Pulse Sword Sect to investigate, right?"
Lin Xuan Qi said and the Governor froze for a moment.
From the description of the assailant, it was the Dark Lord.
Lin Xuan Qi’s blind guess wasn’t too far off and the Dark Lord was indeed heavily involved in the rebellion.
If he did what Lin Xuan Qi had said, it might work to have some more peaceful days for the peasants in Hong Feng City.
Which was the best he could do.
Lin Xuan Qi’s plan was great in its own way.
Putting up a memorial to the emperor telling about the investigation in pursuit of the Dark Lord would have support from those imperial officials close to the Huo Clan.
And he might be able to successfully ask for resources and manpower from the emperor.
In the meantime, the Six Pulse Sword Sect would have to go into the mountains to look for the Dark Lord.
Knowing the cultivation level of Ruo Zhi, he was more than confident that the Dark Lord could take them on all by himself.
The Governor lifted his teacup and proposed a toast to Lin Xuan Qi.
"You never fail to surprise me with your ideas and suggestions."
"You flatter me, Governor. I’m only just a merchant wanting peace and stability to make money." Lin Xuan Qi said and returned the Governor’s toast.
He wasn’t lying about the latter part.
Lin Xuan Qi needed to deliver the orders for the Lin Clan Taste Transcendent Essence within a month.
"I shall see to it and as for the case you are interested in, I will make it a priority and you should know about it very soon." The Governor said with a smile.
Lin Xuan Qi quickly cupped his hands at the Governor and said, "Thanks in advance, Governor. The case is about someone called Liu Ju Zheng who was a colleague of Chen Liang."
The Governor took note of the name and said, "I will let my men take care of it right after you leave."
Lin Xuan Qi took the opportunity to quickly stand up from his seat and said, "That reminds me that I should be going. There’s much more work for me to be done."
He cupped his hands at the Governor and turned around to leave.
The Governor gave out a sigh as he saw the figure of Lin Xuan Qi going further into the distance.
He wondered what could be accomplished for the Da Qian Dynasty if Lin Xuan Qi joined the imperial office or joined the Dark Lord’s rebellion instead of being just a head of the Lin Clan.
It’s unfortunate that it was not to be. The Governor thought.
He put down his teacup and glanced at the servant girl by his side.
"Let the representative from the Six Pulse Sword Sect know that I request for a visit.
"And also let the men check on the case about Chen Liang and Liu Ju Zheng as soon as they can do so."
The servant girl bowed to him and got out from the study room to get everything ready for the Governor.
