Chapter 518: Uneasy Suspicion
On the Abundant Continent, in the western Dawn Federation, inside the Saint's secret chamber at the headquarters of Scholar’s Den in Arcanopolis.
An old man collapses to the ground and violently spits out a mouthful of blood.
Then, trembling, he opens the mechanism on his desk, revealing the exceptionally precious potions stored inside.
The old man no longer has the leisure to feel heartache. He pours the potions into his mouth all at once.
Only after nearly half an hour does color return to his face.
Recalling what had just happened, he knows that if he had not reacted quickly and withdrawn the Bloodmark in time, he would probably already be thoroughly dead.
Just now, one branch of his bloodline had been destroyed, and his soul had followed the connection to search for it.
As a result, he saw a young man. At first, he did not take the young man seriously.
But then, when he released the Bloodmark, a change occurred on the other party's body.
First, a powerful and incomprehensible law enveloped that young man.
Then, a pair of eyes appeared above the young man's head.
They were very calm, very ordinary eyes, no different from those of a mortal.
Yet it was precisely that pair of eyes, ordinary to the extreme, that glanced at him and almost caused his soul to scatter.
Even now, lingering fear grips him. What had he done just now?
He had actually exchanged a glance with a god!
And not some ordinary god. At the very least, that being was at the level of an upper chief god.
It is only because the other party did not deliberately target him. Otherwise, he likely would have died on the spot.
After calming himself slightly, he carefully considers the entire matter.
He has many bloodlines. Morris is a decent descendant, but he cannot be considered the most important one.
He knows Morris is on the Abandoned Continent and is serving the remnants of the old gods.
To him, Morris's death itself is not important. What the matter represents is what matters.
That person claimed to be Ruined Spear Dias. Of course, he does not believe that.
What level is Dias? He is an existence not much weaker than himself.
For a professional of that caliber to kill Morris would be a matter of raising a hand. There would not even be time for bloodline revenge to trigger.
Dias also has plenty of methods to make Morris die without explanation, leaving no trace for him to find.
Then why did the other party use Dias's name?
Was he Dias's enemy, or truly Dias's subordinate?
What role does Dias play in this matter, and what relationship does he have with the old god lineage?
Could it be that the Keystone organization is preparing to place its bet?
Or has the Old God Faction already found a turn for the better and begun to move?
Every one of these questions is of vital importance and related to the future development of the entire plane's situation.
A planar war is about to begin, and this time humanity will act as the main force. Many organizations are dissatisfied with the gods' decision.
Everyone is making arrangements and fighting for their own interests.
Is this the Old God Faction sending him a message? Or is it a warning from the gods?
This matter has to be investigated clearly!
Thinking of this, he lightly taps the desk, and a spell message is sent out.
A moment later, there is a knock at the door. He raises his hand and removes the secret chamber's protection.
The visitor bows to him. "Saint Fekir, Remian awaits your orders!"
Fekir nods slightly. "Send someone to the Abandoned Continent to investigate one matter."
"One of my bloodlines has been killed. I want to know who did it, how they did it, and who stands behind them."
"Investigate the entire matter clearly. Do not miss a single clue, and report everything to me."
Remian's heart tightens, and he immediately agrees. "My lord, rest assured. I will personally make the trip now!"
Fekir shakes his head. "No. You are the chairman of Scholar’s Den. There are many matters that require your handling."
"Moreover, the Abandoned Continent has the gods' seal and interference from the residual Godrealms of the old gods."
"As long as someone is not born there, even those of the Radiant Burst rank will be suppressed to varying degrees."
"You are a domain professional of the Brilliant Star Arrow rank. Going there will not give you much advantage. With the slightest carelessness, you may suffer a serious setback."
"This matter does not necessarily require force. The main thing is to find someone clever and reliable. They must act carefully."
"The waters behind this matter run very deep. They must not act rashly, must not be arrogant, and absolutely must not expose us."
Hearing Fekir's solemn warning, Remian immediately senses the gravity of the matter. "My lord, rest assured. I will find someone at once and make sure this is handled properly!"
Fekir nods. "Go handle it. I will not meet the person. You arrange it yourself."
Remian says solemnly, "My lord, I understand. I will set up proper isolation and will not let anyone realize that we are the ones doing this."
Just as Chairman Remian is about to leave, Fekir speaks again. "Also, have the people below check what Keystone has been doing recently."
"Be equally careful. Do not draw their attention. You do not need to investigate anything else. Just check whether they have recently sent anyone to the Abandoned Continent."
After Chairman Remian leaves, Fekir opens a portal and returns to his home.
Looking at the sky that has only just begun to brighten, Fekir falls into a daze and murmurs, "Which god is preparing to enter the field..."
At the same time, Henwell has just finished simple treatment of his wounds.
Morris's corpse on the ground has already disappeared. He has fallen into the abyss and is no longer tolerated by the main plane.
By rights, he should have been able to be reborn in the abyss and become a thorough abyssal creature.
But he has been slain by Henwell, and with the additional power of civilization, everything about him has been directly annihilated.
Now his abyssalized body has also been expelled by the main plane and has vanished into the cracks between planes.
It is a pity to lose such a fine material. Otherwise, Henwell could have carefully studied the body structure of an abyssal creature.
However, this is also a good thing. Morris leaving no corpse or bones gives Henwell more room to maneuver.
After more than half an hour of recovery, Henwell now has nearly forty percent of his combat power.
At the very least, if he encounters an Iron Knight of the Veil, he can kill him in a normal fight.
Henwell had made multiple arrangements: Morris's Abyss Familiar had been cleared away in advance, Morris had been abyssalized, and Henwell's Shackles Of Civilization could suppress him more heavily.
This battle still cannot be called easy. Several times, Henwell faces situations where he is a hair's breadth from death.
After all, Morris is a Radiant Burst rank professional equivalent to a Glory Knight. Although Henwell's dual lock power has many advantages against such opponents, there is still an entire major rank between them.
For Henwell to win is already the best possible result.
Not to mention that Henwell is now only heavily injured and has not reached the point where his life is drained away.
Once his mobility is no longer restricted, Henwell begins the next step of the operation.
He starts clearing the entrance to the shelter chamber in the royal hall. It has already been blocked.
The earlier Thug box bomb has already blown down the entrance.
Later, the battle between Henwell and Morris worsened the damage here.
As a result, the entrance is piled full of stones, and Henwell has to clear and dig through them bit by bit.
By now, through some strange twist of events, the operation has returned to its original track.
Henwell feels it is necessary to capture Ulysses, the culprit behind everything, and put an end to this chaotic operation.
