Rehab
We moved slowly but made it to the teleporter and I punched in my office on Promethea before hitting the activation lever to take us there. We weren't in the clear though as we still needed to get the tracking and remote control tech out of her. I had prepared for this so the moment my house showed up in my office Tannis and Atlas hurried in along with a few bots carrying surgical gear and various scanners. I never left Angels side even as she was laid down on the surgical table within my house and scanned deeply so Tannis knew where she needed to work in exacting detail.-
Angel was then sedated and the areas cleaned before Tannis and Atlas assisting her got to it. The first piece taken out was the remote control bit sticking out the side of her head that was a series of prongs that shocked the brain directly in a soft way to force the part of it that was suggestive to get to the forefront. This basically forced the person with it to do whatever they were ordered and suffered a LOT of pain if they resisted.-
Thankfully the prongs weren't too deeply attached to the brain tissue so they didn't damage the brain much when taken out. Tannis complained about how fast angel was healing which was forcing her to move quickly but there was nothing for it as I was waging a war against Angels powers that were trying to drain her lifeforce dry. It was slowly starting to adapt to the lack of Eridium but it was a slight thing. Still soon enough Tannis removed the last of six trackers Jack had left implanted in his daughter including the incredibly dangerous one literally inside her spine.-
I had to give it to the man he really did not make freeing his daughter an easy task. Unfortunately for him I had a Tannis who was an expert in things most people would consider next to impossible, once properly equipped for it at least. All that was left was rehabilitation and as Angel woke up screaming discovered, it wasn't going to be fun. I had to teleport us somewhere without electrical signals of any kind before she woke up because I knew her powers and long ingrained habits were going to search for them. -
Without Eridium or that inhumane setup Jack had her in though those habits were going to give her the worst case of withdrawals ever. A fact I had proven right when she awoke and looked around with the sort of desperation someone kidnapped might. It took a few moments for her mind to catch up with her memories and to calm down a bit though she struggled in my grip with whines and groans from the instinctual desire to return to that familiar electrical hum. I just held her tightly in silence as I funneled lifeforce to her to slowly let her body adapt to the lack of Eridium it was constantly trying to make up for.-
She bit me, clawed at me and struggled like an animal backed into a corner with screams, cursing and even begging for death to release her but I sat in place immovable and unharmable. I didn't need much sleep so the few fitful moments of rest she got that I took to do so were enough. Getting her to eat was not an easy task without hurting her as I had to force the food down her throat. The same to water. -
After close to six solid days of this I started to get worried I actually didn't have enough lifeforce even as the drain went down the further she got to adapting to her new situation. Of the nearly three trillion lifeforce I started out with I was down to only about three million and change. Yes it had taken nearly an entire planets worth of energy to get her ALMOST stabilized. The withdrawals were also receding as she was finally able to sleep deeply for the first time since we started.-
Thankfully her body simply stopped burning through it's own lifeforce the next morning but I still bolstered her up an additional 12,500 just to make sure she had the extra for fast recovery. I didn't dare bring her away from this area though as she was still only barely stable and any twitch of her powers could destabilize her again. She woke up and lightly tapped me on the arm.
"I think i'm okay now." she said lightly.
"Alright but take it easy, theres a a small pool of water over there you can use to get clean once I heat it a bit." I said as I released my hold over her for the first time in over a week.
After a week of less than pleasantly sitting in her own waste she was likely desperate to get clean. I didn't say anything though as I heated the water and walked away but kept an ear out on her. I turned on my echo for the first time in over a week and took out a few sets of bagging clothes and a towel that I quietly set near the pool for her. She took well over forty minutes to get clean to a degree she could accept and clumsily stumble my way in a set of clothes a size too big for her.-
"So what now?" she asked a little lost.
"Now you recover. You are stable finally but any stressing of your powers might undo that. My part is done, only time can mend that problem I'm afraid. Something you now have plenty of being ageless and all." I said honestly.
