Are You Going to Tell Ye Sheng? (Chapter 8)
Due to the psychic link, even though Ye Heiya could only quack, under the influence of psychic power, its sounds immediately transformed into human-understandable speech.
'Of course, it's because you'll do something to make Master Ye Sheng sad later!'
Listening to Ye Heiya spouting nonsense, Gu Luoyu suppressed her irritation, knowing that even with psychic power, communicating with a pet that had just left its infancy would still have barriers. Thus, she tried her best to remain calm.
However, if Ye Heiya kept talking, Gu Luoyu wasn't sure she could stay composed.
Perhaps Gu Luoyu had 'accidentally' leaked a hint of killing intent, causing Ye Heiya, who had originally planned to seize this rare communication opportunity to scold her, to quickly lose its bravado and shrink back into its usual timid self.
It feels like if it kept talking, its little life would be over...
Eventually, the sullen Ye Heiya spoke up, explaining the vision it had foreseen: 'I saw Master Ye Sheng crying, she was heartbroken, and you were standing behind her with a terrifying expression.'
“Be more specific. Describe the surroundings.”
Gu Luoyu couldn't help but frown. Her relationship with Ye Sheng was good, and she couldn't imagine what conflict could have arisen between them... Seeing only fragmented glimpses of the future was more frustrating than knowing nothing at all.
It was like having a blade hanging over her head, a constant sense of looming danger.
Gu Luoyu raised her hand to rub her temple as a few strands of pink hair fell, faintly obscuring her cold, gleaming crimson eyes.
'The surroundings... I saw an endless sea. You were standing on a giant turtle shell? And the water around was stained red, with a broken corpse floating on the surface.'
Ye Heiya struggled to recall the vision, its words disjointed but still coherent enough to piece together.
Having grown up among humans from a young age, Ye Heiya had displayed remarkable intelligence early on. It could understand human speech, and even when Gu Luoyu and Ye Sheng were away on missions, it would stay home playing with a high-tech smart wristband, learning all sorts of things.
The only issue was its inability to speak human language, so Ye Sheng and the others remained unaware, only Little White, who was often by its side, knew.
“Was Ye Sheng crying because of that corpse?”
'I don't know. I only saw those images, nothing else.'
“What did the corpse look like? Could you see its face?”
'No idea. Couldn't see it.'
Further questioning yielded nothing.
After all, Ye Heiya had just left its infancy and couldn't compare to the abilities of an adult Calamity Swan. Plus, the precognition had been triggered, suddenly resulting in only scattered fragments.
Gu Luoyu wasn't too disappointed. Although the path ahead remained shrouded in fog, at least some of it had been cleared... Besides, Ye Heiya's precognition ability wasn't a one-time thing. She could always force it to use it more in the future.
However, she still couldn't resist mocking Ye Heiya's communication skills, “Ye Heiya, you really need to learn how to articulate better. That way, you can distinguish between important and secondary details when speaking.”
Initially, Gu Luoyu had been angry because Ye Heiya's first description suggested a grim outcome for her and Ye Sheng.
But after considering the surroundings, she felt somewhat relieved. Ye Sheng's sadness might not necessarily stem from a conflict between them, it could be due to something else.
Ye Heiya's confident claim that Gu Luoyu had made Ye Sheng cry was just its subjective speculation, not necessarily true. Facts will be the ultimate judge.
'Clearly, you're the villain here. Only Master Ye Sheng can't see through your disguise. I'll, '
"Oh? Are you going to tell Ye Sheng?"
With no one else around, Gu Luoyu couldn't be bothered to keep up pretenses. The corner of her lips curled coldly as a breeze swept past, lifting her scattered pink hair and revealing her intimidating crimson eyes.
A single glance was enough to silence Ye Heiya.
Apart from Ye Sheng, Gu Luoyu had always been indifferent, if not outright dismissive, toward others. She only put on an act in front of Ye Sheng.
Although, after all this time together, Ye Sheng should have noticed.
But since it hadn't been addressed, she pretended not to see it.
In a way, this was Ye Sheng's way of showing favoritism, choosing to be 'willfully blind.' Gu Luoyu accepted this blatant affection with joy, treating it as a little game between them.
But that didn't mean Gu Luoyu's nature would change just because she had been pretending for so long.
At her core, she remains cold and ruthless.
“Keep your beak shut. Otherwise, I wouldn't mind getting Ye Sheng a new pet. After all, accidents happen all the time, don't they?”
Seeing Ye Heiya cower in fear, not daring to make a sound, Gu Luoyu smirked and pressed further, laying her threat bare.
Truthfully, Ye Sheng's inability to use psychic power already severed any possibility of communicating with Ye Heiya. But Ye Sheng had that bizarre lottery space, who knew what strange items she might draw? It wasn't impossible for her to end up with something that allowed communication with polluted creatures.
So, to prevent any mishaps, Gu Luoyu gave Ye Heiya a clear warning to stay silent.
Ever since joining the expedition team, Ye Sheng's body had changed. Although nothing bad had happened yet, they still needed to be cautious.
Thus, Gu Luoyu didn't want Ye Heiya to blabber about this to Ye Sheng and make her overthink things.
With these thoughts in mind, Gu Luoyu didn't linger after learning about the vision. Instead of returning the way she came, she quickly headed off into the distance.
While Ye Sheng was resting, she wanted to gather more life-infused polluted plants and prepare some tasty jerky for Ye Sheng to snack on.
Although the jerky will only serve to fill her stomach and wouldn't help the unborn child's need for life force, it could at least ease Ye Sheng's discomfort and satisfy her growing appetite.
Meanwhile, Ye Heiya, watching Gu Luoyu finally leave, exhaled heavily in relief, that had been terrifying!!!
Originally, Ye Heiya had considered using its newfound abilities to convince Master Ye Sheng to ditch this evil woman and find a better, stronger partner!
But now, it has abandoned that unrealistic idea.
If it really spoke up, its swan head might not stay attached, instead ending up buried in the ground, sunk in water, or roasting on a grill... Sigh. All it could do now was work harder to see if it could trigger more precognitive visions.
With that thought, when Ye Heiya returned to the resting tent, Little White, who had been waiting by the entrance, immediately chirped excitedly and nuzzled against it delightfully.
It then spread its wings, about to cast a healing spell on Ye Heiya, but the latter stopped it. From now on, Little White's healing spells should be reserved for Master Ye Sheng!
After all, the little one needed to grow up strong and healthy~
