Chapter 640: Double Side
After walking for a while, Lana finally spoke.
"Since we are going to stay here for some time, it would be better if we created a tent of our own. We should begin by creating a defensive circle around it."
Sophia nodded enthusiastically. "That sounds like a good idea."
However, after taking a few more steps, Sophia suddenly frowned.
"Lana, does it not seem strange to you that this entire Ghost Domain does not appear to have any ghosts?"
Lana laughed awkwardly. She almost wanted to reveal the truth.
’If I tell her that the blackness beneath our feet is actually made up of countless ghosts, she might become frightened.’
Sophia appeared strong and confident, but Lana could sense that she was not nearly as fearless as she pretended to be. Telling her that they were literally walking on ghosts would probably frighten her out of her mind.
Lana’s intention had been good. Unfortunately, the ghosts clearly had no intention of giving them enough time to relax.
The next moment, two pale hands suddenly shot out from beneath the ground and grabbed Lana and Sophia by their ankles.
Lana remained completely calm because she had already known about their existence. Sophia, however, had absolutely no idea what had happened.
She let out a terrified scream. Her scream tore through the darkness and seemed to awaken every sleeping ghost within the surrounding area.
In the next instant, countless shadows began emerging from the ground. Lana and Sophia were immediately surrounded.
"Do not panic!"
Lana quickly pulled out the exorcism talismans she had prepared and threw several of them into the surrounding darkness.
Sophia followed her movements and activated the holy shield she had previously shared with Lana.
The moment the exorcism talismans exploded with mystic energy, horrifying screams echoed throughout the entire Ghost Domain.
The cries traveled for hundreds of kilometers, accompanied by flashes of blinding white lightning that tore through the darkness.
One after another, the ghosts were purified. When the final ghost disappeared, the darkness beneath their feet finally became visible.
Lana looked down and discovered that the ground was made entirely of black obsidian.
’If all those ghosts had remained here, I would never have realized that this was actually the floor.’
The black surface was so dark that it had blended perfectly with the surrounding darkness.
Once the area became quiet again, Lana and Sophia found a relatively peaceful place and sat down.
Even though they had only used a few exorcism talismans, the sudden attack had already made both of them wary.
Sophia murmured, "Strange... why am I feeling like my body is becoming lethargic? Is there something that I don’t know about the ghost domain?"
Lana shook her head.
"Usually, ghost domains suck the yin energy from the surroundings. It just so happens that we are full of yin energy."
Sophia’s eyes widened.
"So you mean to say that we are destined to suffer more while the boys will have an unfair advantage?"
Lana nodded. Sophia’s expression immediately darkened.
"What were the organizers thinking? Surely they wanted the boys to appear as the winners."
Lana chuckled softly. "There might be some surprises waiting for us here."
Sophia looked at her strangely. "Do not tell me you divined about this round! Did you hire a divination master?"
Lana chuckled. "If I told you that I didn’t, would you believe me?"
Sophia nodded with a serious expression. "With all the strange things happening around you, I almost trust you."
Lana laughed softly. "Then you should worry about yourself, considering that I am blindly leading you through this place."
Sophia nodded. "You know what? You have a very sharp tongue."
The two of them began preparing their camp. They unfolded a specially designed spiritual tent made for the Ghost Domain.
The moment they flicked their hands, the entire tent appeared.
Everything inside the Ghost Domain was spiritual in nature.
All the items they brought into this place had to exist in spiritual form, which was why the organizers had specifically provided equipment designed for this purpose.
The tent was not an ordinary physical object. It was a spiritual body, much like the spiritual bodies Lana and Sophia were currently using.
Both of them knew that their real bodies were still standing outside the mirrors while their souls had entered the Ghost Domain. Because of that, even if their spiritual bodies were injured inside, their physical bodies would not immediately suffer the same damage.
Once they entered the tent, Lana and Sophia quickly lay down and fell asleep.
They knew that the first night was unlikely to be peaceful, and they needed to conserve as much energy as possible. Since they had already been drained by the earlier confrontation, wasting their strength now would be foolish.
Meanwhile, deeper within the Ghost Domain, another group was constantly moving toward the eastern direction.
Their objective was simple. They wanted to find the Ghost King before Lana did and eliminate it first.
As they walked, they eventually came across another camp. Danny glanced toward his companion and frowned.
"You should leave her alone. You sound like some kind of controlling freak."
Calix laughed. "I love her, and I only want her for myself. If she is playing both sides, I have the right to be equally evil and want her for me."
Danny shook his head.
"Since you already know that she is playing both sides, you should be smarter than this. A woman like that can easily manipulate anyone. Leave her to me."
Calix laughed again. "You know, you are just as pathetic."
Danny scoffed.
"You are pathetic as well. Even after knowing the truth, you still refuse to back out. I truly have no words for you."
Finally, Calix spoke.
"I will propose to her after I win this International Mystical Cultivation Competition."
Danny raised an eyebrow before laughing. "I thought you would help her win it."
Calix laughed as well.
"You know how girls are. It is important to make them feel superior. So, I will let her win the next few rounds. When it is finally time for the showdown, I will take control and show her who is more powerful."
