Chapter 102: You Go Cooperate:
Shen Wuxiao took a few bites of his noodles and set down the bowl and chopsticks. Liu Ruyan quickly poured him a cup of tea, grabbed a tissue, and handed it to him. Shen Wuxiao wiped his mouth, then turned to look at her.
“I came here today to talk to you about something,” he said.
Liu Ruyan nodded, silently waiting for him to continue.
“Do you know that your circumstances are extremely rare? One in a million,” Shen Wuxiao said.
Liu Ruyan looked puzzled. “I don’t understand.”
“I’m not joking,” Shen Wuxiao said, speaking seriously. “You’re one in a million. Think about it— I killed your whole family, you wanted revenge, you failed to kill me, and then ended up sleeping with me, again and again. You’re completely obedient to me—whether it’s because of tolerance or something else, that’s just how it is.”
Hearing those words, Liu Ruyan felt a wave of unease. It sounded like a final confession… the kind people make before killing someone.
“I’ll give you a suggestion,” Shen Wuxiao said. “If someone like Lin Fan ever shows up again and tries to kill me, I’ll let you know in advance. You can reach out and discuss cooperation with them.”
“Given how tragic your background is, they’ll definitely believe you. After all, who would doubt the hatred of a woman whose entire family I massacred?”
“Of course, I’m not asking you to be some undercover spy. That’s unrealistic. Just stick to your revenge plan. Hate me, plot against me, do everything you want to do—just as long as you don’t die, I’m fine with it.” Liu Ruyan’s heart sank.
So he had already known she and Lin Fan had worked together to try and kill him.
Then why hadn’t he acted?
She had thought she hid everything well, especially after pulling out of the plan when Lin Fan got in trouble. But clearly, Shen Wuxiao knew everything.
Still, she couldn’t figure out what game he was playing.
“I… I really don’t understand…” she said, shaking her head.
“I never care about who my enemies are,” Shen Wuxiao said, “but do you know what I fear the most?”
Liu Ruyan shook her head again. What could someone like him possibly be afraid of?
“I’m most afraid,” Shen Wuxiao said slowly, “that once people realize how powerful I am, they’ll stop trying. Instead, they’ll just run and hide.”
“But if someone like you is involved, you’ll stir things up. You’ll give them ideas and push them to act. That’s what I want.”
Liu Ruyan was stunned.
She suddenly felt like her mind wasn’t enough to keep up.
Seeing her confused look, Shen Wuxiao sighed. “To me, you’re like Ma Su from the Three Kingdoms.”
“Let me explain it clearly—you’re a natural at sabotaging your own allies. If you work with them, I won’t have to worry at all. Get it?”
Liu Ruyan finally understood—and felt completely humiliated.
Was he calling her stupid?
Shen Wuxiao wasn’t joking.
He knew very well, and even the system had confirmed it: the people he had encountered so far weren’t truly strong protagonists.
This was a world of high-level martial arts. People like Ye Qingfeng or the brothers Lin Fan and Lin Chen were ordinary at best.

And that’s where Liu Ruyan came in.
She had intelligence, though not enough to be dangerous to him. But she was extremely useful—smart, hard to find, and most importantly, trustworthy.
He even arranged for a few experts to appear around her, making others think she had built her own power. It was all for show.
To others, she looked like a hidden agent who endured humiliation while biding her time beside the enemy.
All she had to do was memorize a set of lines like a tragic monologue:
“My father is dead, my mother is dead, and my sister too. My whole family destroyed—I’m heartbroken!”
“The beast came to my home the next day and violated me!”
