Chapter 399: Kazriel (2)
Kezriel’s purple eyes glowed slightly brighter.
"You think you could deactivate it while I am present here?"
Vetaal did not answer immediately. Instead, he started laughing softly again.
"Ahahaha... You sure are strong... but while possessing another body, you must be weak, Kezriel."
"Oh? I may be too weak compared to my true self... but even with this... do you really think there is anyone here who could defeat me?" Kezriel said arrogantly.
Then Vetaal stopped laughing and looked at him seriously.
"You think... I do not have any way to deal with you?" Vetaal asked quietly.
Kezriel took one step forward.
"I will stop you," he said.
The moment he said that, Vetaal’s smile disappeared completely.
The playful expression was gone. Now his face looked cold and emotionless.
"You can try," Vetaal said quietly.
Amon stood there, watching both of them, his heart pounding.
He had no idea who these two really were. But he was absolutely sure of one thing. If these two started fighting...
This entire forest would not survive.
"Vetaal... you just need to stay here for a few more years. After that your time to escape will truly come. So just give up... I do not want to kill anyone here," Kezriel still tried to talk calmly.
"Haha! What do you mean? After everyone gave their all to fight... some of them even lost their lives for it... and you are telling us to stop?"
"Oh come on, Vetaal... do not talk like you care about those people. It does not suit you. If it benefits you... you would not mind sacrificing every person here for yourself." When Kezriel ended his sentence,
Amon’s eyes widened. He turned to look at Vetaal. He knew that Vetaal was by no means trustworthy.
He had never truly believed in him. But still, after living with him for more than four months, it had made him slightly trustworthy.
"Hah boy, do not listen to him. For now, I just want to get out of here. And it has nothing to do with sacrificing everyone," Vetaal told him that Kezriel was talking nonsense.
Amon was now standing perfectly fine. His body still ached. But because of the tension that was currently going on, the pain was nearly gone.
His focus was on the two figures currently standing near him.
Kezriel slowly floated in the air.
"Well... you have failed. There is nothing you could do."
Just then Scarlett and Mark walked toward them.
"Who are you?" Scarlett asked, her body still battered and injured as she somehow walked with Mark supporting her.
He was slightly better in condition compared to her.
His face was filled with fear while looking at Kezriel.
"I am Kezriel... who actually I am? Where did I come from? You do not need to know."
Despite being so badly injured, Scarlett tried to form a weapon out of her blood.
Kezriel watched her in amusement.
"Persistence... even after being near death..." He moved his two fingers down.
Suddenly both Mark and Scarlett felt huge pressure fall upon their bodies.
They were pushed down heavily against the ground.
Thud!
Thud!
"Argghh!"
"Gahhh!"
Both of them screamed in pain.
Amon, who saw it, burst out in anger. "Hey! Do not hurt them!"
He glared at Kezriel. This time with anger. The fear instantly vanished the moment he saw Scarlett being hurt by the man in front of him.
Kezriel ignored his rageful comment.
Vetaal remained standing near Amon. Very close, and then in a low voice he said,
"Amon... what should we do? Should we escape this place... or just give up... and wait as he said..."
Amon did not look at Vetaal. His eyes were fixed on the floating Kezriel, who was currently looking at Scarlett and Mark.
What Vetaal was asking? Whether they should go or stay here for a few more years. After fighting for hours, after losing Malphas... and maybe more people on other towers.
Only for them to be stopped here.
Amon gritted his teeth. The words of Malphas came to him.
To get out of here no matter what. This was the only chance. They were so close to it...
So no. He could not give up here... after coming so close to their goal. No way in hell would he give up.
His eyes turned cold and serious.
"No... we will not stay here... we will get out of here today... no matter what it takes..." Amon’s words came out with determination.
Vetaal smiled widely. "Hehe! That is what I wanted to hear..."
"How to stop him?" Amon asked while looking at Kezriel,
Who was now staring at the two of them.
"What are you talking about? Not giving up? It is useless. You cannot go out... until I am here." Kezriel’s words sounded absolute. As if he knew there was no way they could defeat him.
Vetaal looked forward, and this time his voice sounded inside Amon’s brain.
’There is a way... to defeat him. I have recovered a very small amount of my power... but... there is a way... with that we could stop him.’
Amon looked at his face once more.
"What?" He asked in just one word.
’But... that way... you might die... your life will be on the line... and I could only ask you... others are too injured.’ Vetaal met Amon’s eyes.
’Are you willing to put your life on the line?’
Amon then looked at Scarlett and Mark, who were pressed down against the ground.
He exhaled. What Vetaal said was dangerous for his life. But there’s no way he was going to give up now. He would do anything to escape from here.
"Yes."
Kezriel, who was silently observing them, wondered what they were planning with amusement.
He was curious about what they could even do now. In his eyes, there was just no path that could lead them to win.
Suddenly Vetaal’s body shone in red color. He was trying to do something. That might help them to defeat Kazriel.
