In the original story, for reasons unknown, Selene deceived Faris, the White Witch from another parallel world called Elentia, causing her to control the Water Dragon God’s power, leading to a complete rampage and destruction.
Ultimately, it was only after Natsu devoured Ignia’s flames that the rampaging Mercphobia was defeated, regaining his sanity and expending all his magic power.
However, this time Selene didn’t cause so much trouble. Drake had initially thought the trip to Elmina would smoothly lead to sealing the Water Dragon God. But the butterfly effect had indeed occurred.
Just before Natsu and the others arrived in Elmina, two slender women appeared at the Water Dragon God’s palace.

The sisters were ordered by Ignia to investigate the Gold Dragon God but were instead manipulated by him.
Of the two scents Mercphobia detected, one was naturally Ignia, the Fire Dragon God and president of Ignis Temple.
The other was Viernes, the Gold Dragon God, who had conceptualized himself and become the alchemist guild Golden Owl.
Since Mercphobia had never met the Gold Dragon God, he found the scent unfamiliar.
The Water Dragon God, unaware of the full story, spoke, "You shouldn’t be heroes sent by Elefseria, right? After all, you carry the scent of more than one dragon.
Elefseria doesn’t get along peacefully with dragons."
Mercphobia’s understanding was clearly outdated; he didn’t know Elefseria had reconciled with Selene. However, his conclusion was correct.
Rousseau, the younger of the Signor sisters, spoke, "Elefseria, I think I’ve heard that name from the Master, but we don’t know that guy."

This was a new development. In the past, Elefseria had explored various methods for the war against dragons, including seeking help from his disciple, Duke.
Duke was the strongest alchemist of that era. Using alchemy, he created a powerful dragon-slaying weapon—the alchemical puppet Athena.
Athena was also the dragon-slaying weapon Selene had desperately sought by destroying numerous parallel worlds. However, Athena in other worlds had all been destroyed, and only this world retained her.
In reality, Athena was indeed a weapon powerful enough to slay dragons and had killed many dragons during the war. But the problem was that as a puppet, she lacked human emotions and the ability to think.

This was an ability that could freely adjust and manipulate the target’s magic power. In the original story, Faris, who possessed the same ability, had almost wiped out Fairy Tail single-handedly.
However, the Signor sisters’ target this time was indeed a dragon bearing the name of a god.
Even Mercphobia himself couldn’t control his increasingly powerful strength. How could the power borrowed from Athena possibly achieve that?
But there was still an effect: it caused the Water Dragon God to completely go berserk.
