Chapter 681: Farewell Fairyland.
"Are you leaving... Lia?..."
Lyria, Miria, and little Bela all looked at Lia with a look of reluctance as Lia and the others decided to leave.
Although they were just recreated memories and were unable to comprehend the fact that their world, this dungeon, was about to fade away into nothingness, they were still capable of feeling sad.
Lia not only saved Lyria and Miria; she saved thousands of fairies, she helped Bela and Nova, and she stopped entire armies by putting her life on the line.
Lyria and Miria, who were scared of humans after seeing the video from Nova and the cruelty of the humans in the previous battle, mustered up their courage and asked Lia for forgiveness.
"We ran away and avoided you because we thought all humans were bad... but you are a good person Lia..."
"Can’t you stay in Kenorland with us? The human world is so cruel and sad-"
Before Lyria and Miria could finish their sentence, Lia interjected and spoke.
"The human world is indeed filled with cruelty and sadness, but that’s not all there is to it... if there is darkness, then there will always be light too..."
"And if I run away just because the human world is bad, then who will help correct it?"
"Instead of running from it, I would choose to correct it; I would choose to change it and make it better so that someday, innocent people like you can also visit it..."
Although Lyria’s and Miria’s understanding of the human empire was still stuck in the past and today’s human empire was completely different, that didn’t mean it was entirely free of all problems.
Even with a powerful SS-ranker Ashtel Rex personally working day and night, there are still many problems in the nation.
Crime, rogue awakeners, frequent dungeon breaks, etc. There were many problems that needed to be suppressed and outright eliminated from existence.
But that didn’t mean Lia would run away from them.
In order to actually solve a problem, instead of running away, it would be more effective to confront it head-on and find a solution!
"We are friends, and will always be... In future, whenever you encounter troubles, I will be there to help you..."
At Lia’s reassuring words, the little fellows finally stopped being sad and smiled.
What they didn’t know was that saying those words cost Lia a lot of her own determination.
She knew that this dungeon was about to be erased from existence; giving these words of comfort was meaningless.
Just when Lia felt like she could not handle this stress, Rio held her hand tightly and gave her the strength she needed.
Nova, who had been silent until now, brought out a strange-looking crystal from her space ring and gave it to Lia.
"Take this... you helped save everyone... it was supposed to be my job to keep them safe, but you did it better than I could have ever hoped for..."
"This is a broken part of the ’Fountain of Elemental Life’... you can use this to upgrade that sword of yours to the next level..."
Lia’s sword, ’Ambient Silver,’ was a peak S-rank weapon; it was her family heirloom and a perfect match for her current S-rank strength, but Lia’s limit was not rank S anymore.
She had the potential to go beyond this realm; thus, she needed to enhance her sword someday eventually.
Nova solved this problem for Lia on the spot.
The ’Fountain of Elemental Life’ is a mythical artifact, and using a part of it to enhance ’Ambient Silver’ will definitely upgrade Lia’s sword to a much higher level!
"Thank you..."
Lia put the item in her space ring with a smile on her face as she waved her hand to say goodbye to her new friends.
Kai returned to his small cat form as he jumped on Lia’s shoulder, and Rio took ’RJ’ on his shoulder.
James slightly bowed his head at Nova and the others before saying,
"Thank you for treating my daughter so well and being friends with her! We are pressed on time or we would have loved to spend more time here..."
Rio also nodded his head as a way of showing his appreciation.
After saying farewell to Nova and everyone else, Lia patted little Bela on the head.
"Grow up to be a beautiful happy girl..."
Although Lia knew Bela’s fate was ’tainted’ by miasma and she had died with many regrets, Lia still hoped that in some other timeline, in some other universe, perhaps little Bela would not heal that flower on that day.
And she would go on to live a normal happy life without anyone ever finding her real powers.
As Astra said, ’At least some hope must exist... the world cannot exist without hope...’ Lia wanted to hold some hope in her heart that a reality where Bela got to live happily also existed somewhere out there.
After bidding farewell to everyone, Lia and Rio clenched their hands and flew straight towards the dungeon’s exit portal with James and the others.
’Farewell Fairyland...’
As Lia bid farewell to this place, she exited the portal with everyone and arrived at the underground cave system outside.
With that, the dungeon portal that had been there for centuries finally closed and ceased to exist.
The ’laws’ of the ’world’ inside a dungeon work with their own set of rules; it’s impossible to bring out recreated people like Nova and the others from this kind of history-mimicking dungeon.
If it was any other type of dungeon, Rio could have broken the connection of their soul to the dungeon and would have brought them out easily.
But as Nova and others were just a memory and not real beings, it was impossible to bring them out.
"Are you going to the association headquarters first?"
Hearing James’s question, Rio remembered that he was actually on a mission and had abandoned it midway.
"Well, I will leave you all off to the Silver mansion first; I will go the association afterwards..."
At Rio’s words James nodded his head, looked at Lia who had sad look on her face and spoke,
"That’s good... stay by Lia’s side for a while..."
