What are ’Strings of Destiny’?

They are an amalgamation of a person’s future, their ambitions, their goals, and their link to the ’world’ itself!

They are almost equivalent to a person’s life as they represent a person’s very existence!

If that is true, then a change in the strings of destiny means a ’change’ in the person that was connected to them.

The ’change’ could be mental, soul-related, and even physical!

If you can interfere with a person’s body or soul through the strings of destiny, that means you can ’create’ a ’weakness’ in the target’s body, mind, or soul at your own desire!

You can make them vulnerable to physical, mental, or soul-related attacks in such ways that it would be easy for you to target them, as there would be easy-to-notice weaknesses.

While speaking those words, Lia interfered with Ivy’s strings of destiny and messed up the harmony she had created in her healing magic, mind, and soul to suppress miasmic rot and corruption.

Ivy’s body became completely disbalanced from the very depths of her soul as she lost all control over her entire body in just a matter of a fraction of a second!

Without wasting a single moment, Lia thrust her sword forward with such force that Ivy didn’t even see it coming!

The sword thrust hit Ivy precisely in the abdomen where all the disharmony created by Lia was going out of control, and using that weakness, Lia won the battle in just one go!

The sword thrust was so powerful that aside from Ivy’s head, her entire body disintegrated from the sheer force of Lia’s mana and strength!

The weak Lia that could not even break a mere practice doll was no more; she was now the ’Master of Absolute Precognition.’

The title ’Mad Demon Sword’ that was given as a joke was now no longer enough to do justice to Lia’s immense strength; thus, the ’World’ had to grant Lia a unique title to show its acknowledgement of her strength!

Ignoring the useless system notifications, Lia stepped forward and caught Ivy’s severed head and took it in her embrace as her sword sheathed itself with Lia’s telekinesis.

"How was it? Did you like it? You are the first person who has witnessed my full power..."

Ivy, who still had a bit of consciousness left because Lia purposely left her head intact in that final attack, smiled, and a satisfied look appeared on her face.

"Thank you... Friend... It was very beautiful..."

With a happy and satisfied smile on her face, Ivy spoke.

"In the next life... I hope I can be friends with you, Lia..."

And with those final words, Ivy’s head slowly disintegrated into nothingness.

Until the very end, a satisfied smile hung on her face as she was happy and relieved that she didn’t have to become a pawn of miasmic corruption; she was free, and she could go to the afterlife peacefully.

That final smile of satisfaction was all that Ivy wanted, and she got it at the end, but for Lia that smile was anything but happy.

It only made her feel more sad.

Ivy inside this dungeon was just a memory of a long-gone past; even though she achieved a happy ending in this dungeon, it meant nothing at all.

In reality, in that distant past, Ivy Constantine likely never got to die a prideful death of a warrior.

She was likely forced to watch her people die and was forced to bear all the disgrace and mockery of miasmic corruption till the very end, as there was no Lia to help her back then.

Thinking about Ivy’s final words, thinking about her hope to live a better life next time, Lia couldn’t help but feel sad, as she knew that miasma had likely already crushed that hope long ago.

"I hate the sea of miasma..."

Thinking about Ivy’s satisfied smile and her ’Tainted Fate,’ Lia found herself hating miasma even more than before!

The portal leading to the outside world finally appeared after Ivy’s death as the dungeon started to shrink and crumble into nothingness.

"If you are feeling sad... you can lean on my shoulder and cry to your heart’s content; no one will dare laugh at you..."

Rio’s familiar voice entered Lia’s ears and helped her snap out of her sadness and depression-filled mood.

Hearing Rio’s gentle words of comfort was the last straw that finally caused all the tension and stress to come rushing, and Lia immediately hugged him tightly.

She buried her face in his wide, muscular chest as he hugged gently.

"I tried my best you know... I-I almost died... for a moment... I thought I would never get to see you again..."

Rio smiled at Lia’s words and spoke with a gentle tone.

"Yes, you did... you are the most hard-working person I know of..."

"Also... even if you died, I will drag you back out from hell and the afterlife, so there’s no need to worry about that..."

"No matter how far apart we are in the future... You will always be able to meet me again as long as you wish to..."

Rio kissed Lia’s forehead as he spoke in a rare, gentle voice.

"I will always be there for you... after all, I am your boyfriend..."

Lia tightened her hug as if she wanted to bury herself in Rio’s arms and spoke.

"I-I want to go home..."

Rio also nodded his head as he looked at James and Kai who were flying towards this direction from afar and replied,

"Yes... let’s go home..."
