Chapter 41: The Trial begins
Now that Jake was suddenly ripped away from Rion and Seer, he needed to find his footing and also gather some information, especially about his path.
So, the first place he headed to—well, that was the adventurer guild. After asking a few questions, taking a few carriage rides, he finally arrived.
The building he saw was by far more stunning than the one from Lumerg. It was three floors, but it was far more massive than the one at Lumerg, made from beautifully crafted marble.
Adventurers of different shapes and sizes walked into the guild, but that wasn’t what shocked Jake—it was the other races that he spotted going in. He definitely saw a dwarf, standing just about four feet, and he saw a male elf, ears long as if it was depicted in the books.
He ignored all of that though and walked into the guild. It was as rowdy as the one from Lumerg, but the inside was better, properly illuminated with crystals finely lining the wall.
The inside of the hall felt oddly cold. He looked around to find the source but couldn’t. He decided to push that thought aside and head toward the counter. He only made a few steps before the system sent out a message.
[Something is coming, Jake]
"What is it? An enemy?"
[No, I don’t know why, but this feels like something beyond anything that we have had to deal with—ever.]
