Chapter 30: Sudden end of the test
Jake couldn’t react. The orc smashed through all his undead skeletons, and before he could even move, it punched—landing right in his guts. His body arched, blood pouring from his mouth.
His body flew through the air, no movement at all, but suddenly, a glowing rune appeared over his head.
[Death Loyalty Activated]
[Crypt has taken the attack on your behalf]
Jake felt all the pain vanish from his body. Just a moment ago, he felt as if he had been shattered into bits.
He flipped in the air and landed into the swamp with a splash. Jake looked up, his eyes on the orc.
"There’s no luck, only fate that we carve out ourselves," Jake said. He charged forward, running at top speed through the water.
Just a moment ago, he survived death because Crypt had risked his own life for him. Crypt couldn’t help now. Besides the fact that he was surrounded, he also took damage from the attack that he carried for Jake.
"I’ll do my best this time," Jake said. The orc saw that Jake didn’t die from that attack. It immediately threw another punch, wanting to take Jake out now, but this time Jake was ready.
Just when the punch was about to hit, he slid underneath it, dodging the punch by just a hair. I’ll not let what Crypt did go to waste.
He stabbed his sword into the arm that was above his head. The blood poured out like a fountain. He pulled the sword out and rolled in the water to get away, then he rushed toward Crypt.
