There wasn’t the same array that restricted their perception in this place, which meant that they were able to move quickly on the route that Lin Fan devised.

From time to time, they would pass by a few others that were also exploring.

When they came across them, it seemed like they recognized them as they moved in the opposite direction.

The ones that Ye Qing Huan allowed to escape had clearly done their jobs and spread the rumours as they were supposed to. Ye Qing Huan had even made sure that it was one for each of the righteous sects that she allowed escape.

Since there was no array that blocked them, they were able to use the normal methods to share information with each other.

Which made it even easier for the rumours about them to spread.

That just meant that no one would be bothering them.

Once they arrived at the place that was marked on the map, the two of them had to wonder if this was the right place.

After all, it looked like this was the site of an accident...

Seeing Ye Qing Huan looking at him with one brow raised, Lin Fan just said, "This is certainly the right spot, so I’m sure that there’s a reason that it was marked. I’m sure that we’ll be able to find something here."

The building that was in front of them had clear marks showing that it had suffered from fire damage. While the building itself was still standing, it really didn’t look like there was anything that might be stored inside.

With the way that the burn marks were spread, it really looked like the inside of this place had been burned away a long time ago.

Still, they went in since it was where the map led them.

The moment that they entered, the first thing that hit them was the burning smell that pervaded this place. It was as if they were stepping into the site of some kind of fire disaster.

The burn marks that could be seen from the outside was nothing more than a fraction of the total amount of burn marks that were in this place.

Once they stepped in, they found that it was hard to find a place that didn’t have a burn mark.

Not only that, the flames that had caused these burn marks had seeped so deep into the building itself that it left his perpetual burning smell in this place.

From earlier, the two of them knew that this place was maintained by some kind of array that made sure that none of these buildings collapsed. It didn’t even seem like there was any decay of the buildings with the way that it was maintained with the array.

So that meant that this should be the original appearance of this place.

But for this place to be filled with burn marks like this, they had no idea just what this place was.

That was until both of them found some clues as to what this place could be.

For Ye Qing Huan, it was because of her sharp senses that she was able to find the clue that told her what this place was.

Amidst the burnt smell, there was this faint smell that was also there that seemed to be clear. It was a smell that she couldn’t be more familiar with since she had encountered it many times since she was young.

After all, she was the young miss of a large family and the Heavenly Demon’s disciple. It was only natural that they would bring these things to her.

For Lin Fan, it was because of his Appraisal Eyes.

When he looked at the burn marks on the wall, he found that there was actually a notification from his Appraisal Eyes. They didn’t appear before, but they appeared the moment that he approached them.

Those notifications told him exactly how these burn marks came to be.

"This is the alchemy hall."

Ye Qing Huan and Lin Fan said at the same time.

After looking at each other with surprised looks, smiles crept onto their faces without them saying anything else. They didn’t know how the other had figured this out, but that also didn’t matter right now.

Since they knew that this was the alchemy hall, that meant that there was only one thing that they had to do.

"Time to look for treasure."

As this was the alchemy hall, there was no doubt that there would be a stash of pills. Not to mention that these were pills that would have come from the Dao Sect.

Pills that came from the Dao Sect, there really was no doubt that they would be special.

But of course, they had to find it first.

Both Lin Fan and Ye Qing Huan immediately knew what they had to do, so there was no need for words from them.

Following the clues that they found, both of them went looking for the pills left behind by the Dao Sect.

Only when they reached where the clues led them, they found that it wasn’t as simple as it seemed. There was something there that was keeping them from reaching the prize that they were after.

Both Lin Fan and Ye Qing Huan were caught off guard by this large cauldron.

Lin Fan was about to follow her, but she raised her hand to stop him as if she wanted to check this out alone. Lin Fan saw the way that she looked at him and knew that there was a reason for this.

Though this reason did fill him with a bitter feeling.

Even if he were to go forward to help, it wasn’t as if he would actually be able to do anything to help her. In fact, he might even get in her way if something did happen since he was weaker than her.

Once Ye Qing Huan approached the cauldron, there was something that seemed to stir from inside of the cauldron. It was as if there was some kind of fuse that was lit as there was a flame that appeared in the center of the cauldron.

Only this wasn’t any normal flame.

The moment that this flame appeared, it wasn’t just Lin Fan that felt a chill run down his spine.

This flame was strong enough that even Ye Qing Huan felt pressure coming from it.

"So you’re the ones that want to take this trial."

Not only was this flame powerful, it seemed like this flame even had its own sentience.

This thing was anything but a normal flame.

"Then which one of you is more skilled at alchemy?"

Lin Fan and Ye Qing Huan were caught off guard by this, but they were even more caught off guard when the flames came out of the cauldron. After coming out of the cauldron, it took the form of a human.

Though looking at it, this was a human that was completely made out of flames so they weren’t able to see its appearance.

The one thing that they were certain of was that the aura given off by this man made of flames wasn’t normal. This was the kind of aura that showed that the flames that made up this figure weren’t just normal flames.

Since this was a sentient flame that was guarding this alchemy hall, it should be related to alchemy in some way.

A flame that was able to give off aura at this level would certainly have a special status.

"Heaven and Earth Flame?" Ye Qing Huan muttered under her breath.

The Heaven and Earth Flames were very unique flames that were considered natural flames. They weren’t made of pure elemental energy, but rather the energy that came from the very foundation of this world.

Which meant that they contained a trace of laws.

The heat that Heaven and Earth Flames could release were on a completely different level compared to normal flames.

Which was why they were considered the best flames when it came to alchemy.

It was also why it made sense that there was this Heaven and Earth Flame that guarded this place.

It also went to show the power that the Dao Sect possessed that they could trap a Heaven and Earth Flame in this place to protect it.

Only what was this trial that the Heaven and Earth Flame mentioned?

"Why do you care which one of us has the better alchemy skills?"

The Heaven and Earth Flame turned to look at Lin Fan, but it didn’t seem offended by this.

All that the Heaven and Earth Flame said was, "This is an alchemy related trial, so wouldn’t it be for the one that has the better alchemy skills?"

It said it in such a natural way that Lin Fan couldn’t help feeling like a fool for asking this.

However, at least this gave them a bit of information about what was in this place.
